The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 721: Chapter 721: Brotherhood is Just an Illusion

Song Lingzhao and Song Lingjie, the twin brothers, didn’t hold a grand birthday banquet, just celebrated with the family. However, familiar faces like Wan Yicheng also came to the residence to join in the fun, along with cousins from the Lin Family, creating quite the lively gathering of young lads.

Song Lingsu, the eldest brother, was studying with Grandmaster Fu in the Academy and couldn’t make it back for the celebration, but he sent well-chosen birthday gifts to the two.

The married sisters Song Ruqian and Song Ruqi did not forget their cousins’ birthday either, and they also sent birthday gifts through their people. This was a way to maintain connections since their family, particularly the father and brothers, were their backing. Being on good terms was a must, not to mention these siblings were quite close due to the scarcity of children in this generation. Celebrating their brothers’ birthdays was quite normal.

Overall, the brothers’ birthday gathering was quite lively, even featuring fruit wine to liven things up.

Song Ci said, ”You are at the age of growing. Although this fruit wine is easy to drink, too much of it can go to your head, so don’t get carried away.”

”Grandmother, we know,” Song Lingjie replied with a smile.

”Mother, don’t worry. I’ve made all the preparations, just two cups each, no more, so there won’t be any excessive drinking,” Jiang said with a cheerful smile.

Song Ci: ”You’re underestimating them.”

Too naive, these young boys have more tricks up their sleeves than you think. Believe me, once we’re out of sight, they’ll start bringing out the hidden liquor from all corners to start the party.

Well, as the saying goes, you devise a strategy, I’ll find a way over the wall.

But seeing Jiang’s confident demeanor, it’s better not to burst her bubble, lest it hurts her pride.

Song Ci looked at Song Lingjie meaningfully and said, ”Jie’er, you’re the most steady among them. I’m leaving these boys to you. Remember, overindulgence harms the body, you should be aware of this.”

Song Lingjie’s eyes flickered, feeling inexplicably guilty, as if his grandmother had seen through him. He quickly responded respectfully, ”Please rest assured, Grandmother.”

Song Ci called everyone to leave, leaving behind the group of boys.

Song Lingzhao crouched on the wall to make sure the coast was clear, then deftly jumped down, raising his arm and shouting, ”They’re all gone. Boys, take out the liquor and let’s drink.”

The crowd cheered, each pulling out a small gourd that could hold about a pound of liquor from their sleeves.

”Fruit wine is boring. Let’s mix it up. If you’re a man, drink this strongest liquor with me,” declared Song Lingzhao, revealing his cherished Li Hua Bai with great bravado.

But Song Lingjie said, ”Zhou, you all better stick to the fruit wine. The strong liquor you can only taste, just lick and try it.”

”Old third, you’re being such a killjoy. It’s rare for the brothers to gather and drink; why stop them?” Song Lingzhao complained.

Song Lingjie responded calmly, ”Grandmother has already warned us. If they really end up drunk, Mother won’t cook you bamboo shoot meat, but there’s no way your swords and knives in your room are safe.”

Song Lingzhao instantly caved, ”Well then, Zhou and Xiaocheng, you guys should stick to the fruit wine.”

No joke, his treasured collection in his room is his life.

After all, it’s just alcohol. What do these little kids know about flavors?

Song Lingzhou and Wan Yicheng: ”...”

The bold camaraderie usually displayed was all fake. When it came down to crucial moments, they were the ones to be abandoned, not even as valuable as his swords, knives, and bows.

Truly tragic!
