The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 726: Chapter 726: The Destined In-laws

”Madam, just as you anticipated, the young masters ended up drinking themselves under the table.” Hong You entered Chunhui Hall’s main room with a smile to report.

Song Ci raised an eyebrow, looked at those present, and said with a smile, ”I told you I was right. These young lads are quite cunning. Once we left, they surely indulged and, indeed, drank themselves down.”

Madam Jiang’s face turned green as she said, ”I must give those two rascals a thrashing when I get back.”

”Let it be. It’s their birthday today. Let them enjoy themselves a little. After all, it’s not a frequent occurrence.” Song Ci stopped her and then looked at Hong You to ask, ”Make sure the kitchen prepares some hangover soup for them. Don’t let their drinking upset their stomachs.”

Hong You replied with a smile, ”The Third Young Master has already ordered the servants to serve them. They’re all asleep now.”

”That’s good then.”

Song Zi laughed and said, ”Mother, you truly have foresight. When the boys wake up, they ought to come and kowtow to you. If it weren’t for you holding back, Second Sister-in-law had a bamboo shoot braised pork waiting for them.”

”As long as it’s not excessive, on such joyful days, letting them indulge a bit is fine, but not every day. They’re still growing.” Song Ci sipped her tea and said, ”And you, why didn’t you bring Zhihui over?”

The Madam of the Song family raised an eyebrow, gently sipping her longan tea.

Song Zi replied with a smile, ”To let Mother know, Zhihui has reached marriageable age, and her father and I have arranged a match for her. We’re just waiting to exchange betrothal gifts in a few days. The young girl is too shy to come.”

Upon hearing this, the Madam of the Song family relaxed her demeanor and asked with a smile, ”Which family is it settled with?”

”It’s the legitimate second son of the Shen family from Huai Tree Lane, named Shen Zixiang.”

Spurt.

Song Ci, upon hearing, was choked by her tea, and looked up at Song Zi, ”Shen family? Which Shen family are you talking about?”

Song Zi replied, ”The one belonging to Vice Minister of Rites Shen’s family.”

Song Ci: ”...”

The Madam and others also felt a bit emotional. Isn’t this too dramatic?

Seeing everyone’s expressions, Song Zi was somewhat puzzled. Concerned about her daughter’s marriage, she cautiously asked, ”Mother, is there something wrong with this young man from the Shen family?”

There couldn’t be anything wrong, right? She and her husband had carefully inquired. Although the boy had some typical official’s child bad habits, he was quite okay. He is only sixteen this year, already holding a position in the Five Cities Military Department, and had an attractive appearance.

Most importantly, it was introduced by Qi San, who was Song Ruqi’s husband. He mentioned that the boy was intelligent, there were no messy affairs in his house, and he had a good character.

If they didn’t trust others, they should trust their relatives. Song Zi and her husband checked thoroughly, and the Shen family was interested, so they arranged a meeting. The two youngsters had a good impression of each other and met a few times, so it was about to be settled.

But could there be something they were unaware of?

”There’s nothing bad about it. The Shen family has a good family tradition. I’ve met Madam Shen, and she’s a pleasant person. In fact, our family almost became in-laws with them before. Old Fourth nearly got engaged to Madam Shen’s niece, but it ended up...” Song Ci sighed, ”Who would’ve thought that after all this, our family would still become in-laws with the Shen family? It’s fate after all.”

Song Zi suddenly understood. She had overheard something about this before, but as those involved were already married with children and there hadn’t been any bad rumors, she didn’t take it seriously.

”So that’s how it is. I thought there was something wrong with the Shen young man.” Song Zi patted her chest, utterly relieved, as it had really frightened her.
