Naruto: Zanka No Tachi

Chapter 97: NZNT: Chapter 97

”This body contains a high level of Wood Release kekkei genkai, and his affinity for Wood Release is far beyond anyone else. He’s almost the perfect vessel for me!” White Zetsu’s voice echoed, skipping and jumping.

Hearing White Zetsu’s words, Obito also understood that White Zetsu wanted to capture Yamato and then possess his body.

Although White Zetsu was currently possessing Obito’s body, he could actually leave Obito and act independently.

The vessel he possessed would affect the power White Zetsu could unleash.

In the original story, after possessing Yamato, White Zetsu could use the Wood Release technique almost comparable to the First Hokage. He made the Allied Shinobi Forces in the Fourth Great Ninja War helpless.

It wasn’t until Madara completed the ”Infinite Tsukuyomi” jutsu that White Zetsu felt his combat strength was no longer necessary. He voluntarily released Yamato.

”Okay, then after we take care of the Third Hokage, we’ll take this guy too!” Obito said calmly. His tone was flat, clearly not taking the Third Hokage seriously.

The Third Hokage and Yamato could clearly hear Obito and White Zetsu’s conversation. They knew that besides Naruto, the Nine-Tails jinchūriki, the enemy also considered Yamato a target.

”Who are you, exactly? Why can you use the First Hokage’s Wood Release?” The Third Hokage said solemnly, looking at Obito.

With a cold snort, Obito didn’t have anything to say to the Third Hokage. He instructed White Zetsu, who was now in control of his body, to act quickly.

Receiving Obito’s order, White Zetsu clasped his hands together, ”Wood Release: The art of wooden man (Mokuton no Jutsu)!”

Countless thick tree roots grew from the ground and continuously joined together, eventually forming a giant wooden statue.

This wooden statue was in the form of a Thousand-Armed Buddha. Its two hands were clasped together in front of its chest. Behind it, countless palms were spread out like a peacock’s tail. This image made the wooden Buddha visually striking.

The Buddha also had five smaller heads on its head. These five heads could use five different chakra attributes: Fire, Lightning, Earth, Water, and Wind.

Although the wooden statue that White Zetsu was currently using was much smaller than the one he had used when possessing Yamato in the final battle of the original story, it was still several times larger than Gamabunta, making it awe-inspiring.

Looking at the enormous wooden statue in front of him, the Third Hokage couldn’t help but think of the once invincible First Hokage. He felt a sense of powerlessness.

But at this point, he was the only one in Konoha who could deal with an enemy of this level.

”As the Hokage of Konoha, if you want to take Konoha’s family, you’ll have to get past me first!”

With a loud shout, the Third Hokage, wielding the Adamantine Staff, charged towards the giant wooden statue, which was hundreds of times larger than him, without hesitation.

Just as Obito and the Third Hokage were clashing, the Raikage personally led all the ninjas on the Kumogakure front line to launch a full-scale attack on Konoha. This large-scale action naturally couldn’t be hidden from Yusuke, who had phantom crows constantly monitoring the sky.

Gathering all of his ninjas, Yusuke also led his army to meet the approaching Kumogakure forces.

Soon, the Konoha and Kumogakure ninja armies met in a canyon called ”Valley of Clouds and Lightning” on the border of the Land of Lightning.

The terrain of this canyon wasn’t steep. Ninjas could fight normally within it.

The two sides faced off on either side of the Valley of Clouds and Lightning. The Kumogakure side saw the commander of the Konoha army, Uchiha Yusuke, who had recently become famous in the ninja world.

He looked very young, as the intelligence had said, under twenty years old. He was tall, and the white coat he was wearing fluttered in the wind. His calm eyes contained a pair of golden-red flame tomoe Sharingan, something they had never seen before. He stood there straight, like an unsheathed sword, his aura hidden but impossible to ignore.

Standing beside Yusuke were Itachi and Izumi. Behind them were many elite ninjas from the Uchiha clan.

Although Kumogakure had a numerical advantage, they couldn’t help but feel that their momentum was being suppressed by the Konoha army in front of them.

After all, Konoha had been winning since the start of the battle. Today, they had even captured the Two-Tails jinchūriki alive. This had boosted Konoha’s morale even further.

Staring intently at Yusuke across from him, the Fourth Raikage shouted, ”Uchiha Yusuke, where is Yugito? If you return her safely now and formally surrender on behalf of Konoha, then I’ll let all of you go today!”

Hearing the Raikage’s words, Yusuke laughed loudly, ”Raikage-sama, I didn’t expect you to be so humorous.”

”Why don’t you hand over the Eight-Tails jinchūriki to me instead? Then I’ll spare the lives of everyone here.”

The Eight-Tails jinchūriki, Killer Bee, was the partner of the Fourth Raikage. The Fourth Raikage had considered him a younger brother since he was young. They formed Kumogakure’s ”AB” duo. They were partners who could entrust their lives to each other, closer than real brothers.

Now, hearing Yusuke actually ask him to hand over Killer Bee, the Fourth Raikage, with his hot temper, naturally couldn’t stand it.

”You bastard! After today, I’m going to make the Uchiha clan choose a new clan leader!”

The Raikage roared and ordered Dodai to command the Kumogakure ninjas to launch a full-scale attack. He charged towards Yusuke’s location, leading the charge.

Seeing Kumogakure begin their attack, Yusuke instructed Itachi, who was standing beside him, ”Itachi, you take over command of the entire army. I’ll deal with the Raikage and the Eight-Tails jinchūriki.”

Itachi and Izumi immediately accepted the order. They still didn’t know how strong Yusuke was, but they believed that Kumogakure’s ninjas were no match for him.

Yusuke’s gaze met the Fourth Raikage’s, who was quickly charging towards him. Both of their eyes flashed with killing intent.

At this time, the Fourth Raikage had activated his ”Lightning Release Chakra Mode.” His body was surrounded by lightning chakra, completely activating his muscles. This not only greatly improved the Fourth Raikage’s movement and attack speed, but it also significantly increased his physical strength and defensive abilities.

A flash of fire appeared in his right hand. The released Ryūjin Jakka appeared in Yusuke’s hand. A long flame tail dragged a crimson ring of fire behind Yusuke, illuminating the night sky.

Because of Ryūjin Jakka’s release, the temperature of the entire canyon had risen, becoming sweltering.

With a clang, the zanpakutō burning with blazing flames in Yusuke’s hand collided with the metal ring on the Raikage’s right arm.

Seeing that the metal arm ring on the Fourth Raikage’s arm could instantly block his Ryūjin Jakka, which was infused with reiatsu and high-temperature flames, Yusuke was slightly surprised.

It was clear that the Fourth Raikage’s metal arm ring was made of a very special material. It was not only incredibly hard but also very heat-resistant.
