Naruto: Zanka No Tachi

Chapter 71: NZNT: Chapter 71

As expected by Yusuke, the Third Hokage nodded in agreement to the first two conditions he had proposed.

”Third Hokage-sama, you truly understand the righteousness of this matter. I admire you. But these two points are not enough to appease my Uchiha clan.”

Hearing Yusuke’s words, the Third Hokage frowned, ”Tell me what you have in mind.”

”Third, the Uchiha clan has suffered heavy losses this time. The Police Force is already understaffed. We need to recruit other ninjas from the village to ensure the Police Force can operate normally.”

The work of the Police Force was inherently prone to conflict and resentment. The Uchiha clan had made the Police Force their own exclusive domain, effectively separating themselves from the other forces in the village. This had led to the Uchiha clan having almost no allies in the village.

By opening up the Police Force to recruit other ninjas from the village, the clan could gather some ninjas without any power base and establish cooperative relationships with other forces.

But the downside of this measure was also obvious. The Police Force would no longer be pure. There would inevitably be some people with ulterior motives who would infiltrate.

However, Yusuke had already anticipated this and had a plan to deal with it. Any new members would be vetted by him or Itachi.

Yusuke believed that under his and Itachi’s scrutiny with genjutsu interrogation, those with ill intentions would have nowhere to hide.

Hearing Yusuke’s third request, the Third Hokage’s frown deepened.

With the Third Hokage’s shrewdness, after careful consideration, he quickly guessed Yusuke’s intentions. This made him respect Yusuke even more.

”I thought he was just a very powerful young man. It seems he’s much more difficult to deal with than Fugaku!” the Third Hokage thought to himself, feeling a pang of worry.

Seeing the Third Hokage’s furrowed brow, Yusuke made a fourth request that the Third Hokage absolutely could not accept.

”Fourth, the Uchiha clan needs a Hokage advisor!”

Hearing Yusuke’s fourth request, the Third Hokage was shocked. He immediately stood up from his chair.

”What!”

”That’s impossible. The Hokage advisor has a very important position and responsibility in the village. Only someone of great virtue and prestige can hold this position.”

The Third Hokage’s words were rather veiled, implying that the Uchiha clan didn’t have anyone qualified to be a Hokage advisor.

Yusuke snorted coldly, ”As the Uchiha clan, who founded Konoha Village together with the Senju clan, we don’t even have a Hokage, let alone a mere advisor position. This is simply absurd.”

”It’s precisely because the Uchiha clan doesn’t have a role like a Hokage advisor that a despicable and shameless scoundrel like Danzō, who dares to plot and scheme against our clan, has emerged!”

Yusuke’s words were blunt and unyielding. Although he was scolding Danzō, the Third Hokage felt like he was being included as well.

Slamming his fist on the table, the Third Hokage roared, ”Uchiha Yusuke, don’t forget your place. Are you threatening me now?”

Seeing this, Yusuke didn’t back down at all, ”Third Hokage-sama, this condition is non-negotiable!”

”And this isn’t a threat!”

As he spoke, Yusuke and Itachi activated their Sharingan. Yusuke even released his Reiatsu, pressing down on the Third Hokage.

Sensing the powerful aura emanating from Yusuke, as well as the unique patterns in their Sharingan, the Third Hokage fell silent.

Itachi’s Sharingan was clearly the Mangekyō Sharingan. And the golden-red flame tomoe Sharingan in Yusuke’s eyes was unprecedented. The Third Hokage also mistook it for a type of Mangekyō Sharingan.

Because Shisui was the Third Hokage’s most loyal subordinate, the Third Hokage knew a lot about the Mangekyō Sharingan, even more than most Uchiha clan members.

Therefore, he was still very wary of the strange abilities of the Mangekyō Sharingan.

Now, two Mangekyō Sharingan were staring at him intently, coupled with Yusuke’s Reiatsu. The Third Hokage couldn’t help but feel a sense of overwhelming pressure.

Looking at the Third Hokage, who was frowning, Yusuke sneered inwardly.

He knew that the Third Hokage was calculating the cost of using the village’s strength to subdue the Uchiha clan by force. But Yusuke knew that the hesitant Third Hokage would eventually give in!

As expected by Yusuke, after a moment, the Third Hokage agreed to his request. But, cunning as he was, the Third Hokage wouldn’t let Yusuke get away easily.

”Sigh, actually, I’ve been considering this. The Uchiha clan should indeed have a Hokage advisor.”

”But the selection of the Hokage advisor is a serious matter. Even I can’t make the final decision. I can only offer some suggestions.”

”Ultimately, whether or not someone becomes a Hokage advisor is up to the Daimyo.”

Hearing the Third Hokage’s words, Yusuke said calmly, ”As long as you’re willing to nominate me, Third Hokage-sama, whether I succeed or not, the fourth condition will be considered fulfilled!”

Looking at Yusuke, who was impassive, the Third Hokage couldn’t figure out his next plan.

But he was already in too deep. The Third Hokage could only nod and continue asking Yusuke, ”Then, who will your Uchiha clan nominate to be the Hokage advisor?”

”Naturally, it’s me, Uchiha Yusuke!”

”I never imagined that you would be able to secure so many benefits for the clan in this negotiation, Teacher.”

Leaving the Hokage Tower, Itachi said admiringly.

”An enemy is like a spring. If you’re strong, they’re weak. If you’re weak, they’re strong.” Yusuke said calmly.

Although that’s true, Yusuke’s approach to this negotiation was naturally tailored to the person he was dealing with.

If the Third Hokage’s personality was as stubborn as the current Fourth Raikage, Yusuke, although he wouldn’t be happy about it, would have had no choice but to lead the Uchiha clan out of the village.

Because someone as stubborn as the Fourth Raikage wouldn’t back down. Even if he knew it would ultimately result in a lose-lose situation, the Fourth Raikage would just charge in first and think about it later.

Itachi nodded in agreement and then continued to ask, ”Teacher, but even if the Third Hokage agrees to nominate you as the new Hokage advisor, how will you get the Daimyo to agree?”

Yusuke smiled, ”I have my ways, Teacher. Don’t worry.”

”Besides, my goal isn’t just a mere Hokage advisor.”

”Except for Danzō, who’s already dead, the current Konoha high-ranking officials, Koharu Utatane and Homura Mitokado, are also part of the Third Hokage’s faction. Even if I become a Hokage advisor, I won’t have much say.”

Hearing Yusuke’s words, Itachi also looked worried, ”Then what’s your plan, Teacher?”

A slight smile appeared on Yusuke’s lips, ”You’ll find out soon enough.”

Yusuke already had a plan to deal with Konoha’s high-ranking officials. He had temporarily resolved the Uchiha clan’s ”external troubles.”

”The remaining ’internal troubles’ also need to be taken care of!” Yusuke thought to himself, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.
