Naruto: Zanka No Tachi

Chapter 96: NZNT: Chapter 96

Hearing Sasuke’s question, Naruto, with a bruised and swollen face, crossed his arms and laughed loudly, looking up at the sky, ”I’m going to be Hokage!”

”How can a Hokage be so tough?”

But after saying that, Naruto, who was as innocent as a child, vaguely realized something was wrong. Sasuke couldn’t believe that he had actually lost to such a fool.

Soon, Naruto and Sasuke were back to being friends. They sat under the tree with Yota, resting and chatting. As the sky darkened, they prepared to return to the village.

But soon, Yota and Sasuke noticed something strange. Sasuke’s slightly swollen left cheek hadn’t gone down, while Naruto’s injuries had almost completely healed.

The several Anbu members hiding nearby couldn’t help but marvel at the power of the Nine-Tails.

”Is this the power of the Nine-Tails? It can have such an effect by simply leaking a little chakra. As expected of the strongest tailed beast.”

Just then, a strange man’s voice suddenly rang out in the ears of the leading Anbu member.

The leading Anbu member was stunned for a moment, but he quickly reacted.

”Everyone be careful, there’s an enemy!”

But in that instant, he was too late to dodge the enemy’s attack.

”Wood Release: Cutting Technique!”

With a thud, a body covered in blood and spikes suddenly fell in front of Naruto, Sasuke, and Yota.

The three children didn’t understand what had happened. Suddenly, eight masked figures appeared.

Seven of them wore animal masks, while the one facing them wore a red whirlpool-shaped mask.

”You three kids, run! We’re Anbu from the village. The one with the red whirlpool mask is the enemy!” An Anbu wearing a fox mask said.

At the same time, he pulled out a scroll from his pocket, unfurled it, and pressed his hand on it while forming hand seals.

This scroll was a communication scroll used to communicate with the Third Hokage. Every Anbu member had one.

When the scroll was activated, the Third Hokage would receive a signal, knowing that the Nine-Tails was in danger.

”Everyone be careful, this guy is proficient in space-time ninjutsu. He can pass through any kind of attack!” A ninja wearing a cat mask said solemnly.

This ninja was Yamato, who had joined the Anbu after leaving Root. He had seen Obito when he was under Danzō, and at that time, Obito had used his Kamui ability to phase through his ”Four Pillars Binding Technique.”

Hearing Yamato’s words, the other Anbu members became more cautious.

Space-time ninjutsu was one of the most mysterious and difficult types of jutsu to master in the ninja world.

This enemy not only possessed both Wood Release and space-time ninjutsu, but he also dared to attack Konoha alone. He was definitely not easy to deal with.

Yota also recognized this masked figure as the enemy from the night Root attacked. He immediately grabbed Naruto and Sasuke and ran away.

”I didn’t expect anyone to know about my abilities here. But no one is escaping today.” Obito sneered.

”Wood Release: The Art of Hundred Pillar Prison (Hyakujuu Rō)!”

Obito quickly formed hand seals and pressed them against the ground.

Instantly, hundreds of extremely thick logs rose from the ground around them, forming a square cage that enclosed everyone present.

”Water Release: water severing wave (Suidanpa)!”

Seeing this, an Anbu wearing a rat mask immediately reacted. After forming hand seals, he spat out a very sharp, high-pressure water jet to cut through the surrounding logs.

But to everyone’s disappointment, although his Suidanpa temporarily cut through a row of logs, they could automatically repair themselves. They quickly returned to their original state.

”Wood Release jutsu has a very strong repair ability. This jutsu of his can’t be easily broken.” Yamato said.

While the Anbu members were dealing with Obito, the Third Hokage, who had received the signal in the village, immediately reacted and rushed towards the location where the signal was sent with several Anbu members.

”Wood Release jutsu? But this is not the level that Yamato can use.”

The Third Hokage frowned. He immediately judged that Naruto and the Anbu members were trapped inside this Wood Release cage.

”Summoning Jutsu: Monkey King Enma!”

The Third Hokage immediately summoned Monkey King and had it transform into a Adamantine Staff. Holding the Adamantine Staff, the Third Hokage spun the staff in a circle.

”Extend!”

The Third Hokage raised the Adamantine Staff and swung it down hard. He completely swept away the top of the Wood Release cage that the Anbu member’s Suidanpa couldn’t destroy just a moment ago.

With the top of the cage destroyed, the battle inside was revealed. Besides the Anbu member who had been killed at the beginning, six of the remaining seven Anbu members had also been killed. Only Yamato was holding on.

Seeing that the Wood Release cage was being destroyed and began to repair itself rapidly, Yamato quickly formed hand seals and used a jutsu to rescue himself and the children.

”Wood Release: rising column (Shōtō Chū)!”

Several wooden pillars quickly rose from the ground, lifting them all into the air.

When the pillars rose above the Wood Release cage, they quickly bent downwards, safely delivering them to the ground.

At this time, Obito suddenly materialized into a space-time vortex and appeared beside Naruto. The Third Hokage, noticing Obito’s intention, immediately used the Adamantine Staff to stop him. To his surprise, the Adamantine Staff passed through the enemy’s body.

Obito knew that he was too slow. If he didn’t deal with the Third Hokage in front of him, he wouldn’t be able to take the Nine-Tails jinchūriki.

Because his phased body had been pierced by the Adamantine Staff, Obito simply gave up on grabbing Naruto directly. He took a step back, retreating out of the Adamantine Staff’s attack range.

The Third Hokage came to Yamato’s side. Yamato told the Third Hokage about some of the information he had gathered about Obito during the battle.

After listening to Yamato’s explanation, the Third Hokage’s expression also became serious. The enemy’s abilities made him feel very uneasy.

”Why are you dragging your feet this time? You wasted so much time. It seems like you deliberately spared this guy’s life.” Obito’s voice was tinged with dissatisfaction. As he spoke, his eyes looked at Yamato, the only surviving Anbu member.

It turned out that he had given control of his body to White Zetsu, Obito. He had originally hoped that White Zetsu would quickly end the battle, but he hadn’t expected White Zetsu to hold back when attacking.
