Naruto: Zanka No Tachi

Chapter 69: NZNT: Chapter 69

As soon as the words left his mouth, Shisui gathered his last ounce of strength, pulled the katana embedded in his left shoulder, and decisively slashed it across his own neck.

In the end, the genius Uchiha Shisui made the same choice as in the original story.

Looking at Shisui’s body, Itachi sighed deeply, ”I can’t imagine why Shisui would choose such a path!”

Yusuke glanced at Itachi with a blank expression, but he thought to himself, ”If I hadn’t been your teacher, Shisui’s path would have been the one you would have taken.”

Yusuke felt deeply sorry for Shisui’s talent. If possible, he would have wanted to change Shisui’s fate.

But Shisui, as a descendant of the Uchiha clan’s Mirror lineage, had been instilled with their ideology since childhood. Shisui was like a blank sheet of paper that had already been blackened. There was nothing more he could do to change him.

Itachi, however, was lucky in this life. He had met Yusuke when he was still a blank slate.

Looking at the bodies of Shisui and Fugaku, Yusuke asked Itachi, ”You should know about the Mangekyō Sharingan, but do you understand its limitations?”

Itachi shook his head. He had only just awakened his Mangekyō Sharingan and hadn’t yet seen the stone tablet at the Uchiha clan’s Naka Shrine. Therefore, he didn’t know the information about the Mangekyō Sharingan recorded on the tablet.

”The abilities of the Mangekyō Sharingan are powerful, far exceeding those of the ordinary Sharingan. But each time you use the abilities of the Mangekyō Sharingan, it causes irreversible dojutsu power depletion.”

”As your dojutsu power depletes, your vision will gradually deteriorate. When your dojutsu power is completely depleted, this pair of Mangekyō Sharingan will forever lose its light.”

Hearing Yusuke’s explanation, Itachi couldn’t help but frown.

He had noticed that his vision had become a little blurry after using ”Tsukuyomi” and ”Amaterasu.”

He thought it was temporary, but hearing Yusuke’s explanation, he realized that it was permanent damage to his dojutsu power and vision.

”Then how can we solve this problem?” Itachi asked.

Looking at Fugaku’s eyes, Yusuke said slowly, ”The solution is to fuse another pair of Mangekyō Sharingan, and I hope you can fuse your father’s eyes!”

”Teacher, but...” Itachi instinctively wanted to refuse, but Yusuke interrupted him before he could finish.

”If your father were still alive, he would definitely want you to do this. What father would want to see their child go blind?”

”More importantly, from now on, your father can witness the rise of the Uchiha clan through your eyes!”

Itachi was silent for a moment before finally agreeing to Yusuke’s proposal.

”You’re truly my disciple! No hesitation.”

Yusuke patted Itachi’s shoulder, his heart filled with relief.

However, Yusuke didn’t know that his words had once again struck a chord in Itachi’s heart, like Fugaku’s frequent words to Itachi when he was alive, ”You’re truly my son!”

”Teacher, I want to bury Shisui’s body here. I hope you’ll agree.”

Looking at the body of his former best friend, Itachi pleaded with Yusuke.

Shisui was a traitor to the clan. The Uchiha clan members wouldn’t agree to bury his body in the Konoha Cemetery.

Yusuke nodded, ”But I need to take Shisui’s eyes.”

Itachi didn’t know the abilities of Shisui’s Mangekyō Sharingan. He thought Yusuke wanted to use Shisui’s eyes as material for the future evolution of his Mangekyō Sharingan.

Although he felt a little uncomfortable, Itachi could understand in a world where strength was everything.

A short while later, Itachi finished burying Shisui’s eyeless body.

Walking to Yusuke’s side, Itachi looked at Yusuke with a worried expression, asking him about the next steps. He also told Yusuke about Fugaku’s last wishes.

Itachi was very clear that Danzō and Root’s actions must have been authorized by Konoha’s high-ranking officials.

Although the clan had escaped this crisis, Itachi didn’t know what to do. He asked Yusuke if they should move the entire clan out of Konoha.

After Itachi finished speaking, he noticed that his teacher, Yusuke, was looking at him with a deep gaze. For once, he felt a little helpless.

”Do you know the true origin of the ’Will of Fire’?” Yusuke didn’t tell Itachi his plan directly but instead talked about the ”Will of Fire.”

Itachi asked, ”Didn’t the First Hokage, Senju Hashirama, propose it?”

Yusuke shook his head, ”You’re only half right.”

Yusuke caught a leaf that had drifted down from a tree with his palm. Then, he activated his Fire Release chakra to ignite the leaf and chanted, ”Where leaves dance, fire also lives on. The flames will continue to illuminate the village and allow new leaves to sprout.”

”This is the will that our ancestor, Uchiha Madara, and Senju Hashirama created together, combining fire and wood.”

”Uchiha Madara used ’wood,’ representing the Senju clan, to name ’Konoha Village,’ and Senju Hashirama used ’fire,’ representing the Uchiha clan, to create the ’Will of Fire’ that has been passed down through generations in the village!”

”This can be seen as a metaphor for their mutual recognition and compromise.”

”Therefore, half of Konoha Village’s ’Will of Fire’ is also the will of our Uchiha clan!”

Hearing Yusuke’s words, Itachi looked thoughtful.

Then, Itachi frowned slightly and asked, ”Teacher, how did you know all this?”

”It doesn’t matter. What matters are the words I’m about to say!” Yusuke waved his hand dismissively.

Seeing Itachi’s attentive expression, Yusuke nodded with satisfaction and continued, ”It was our Uchiha clan and the Senju clan who founded Konoha Village! If we now run away from Konoha like stray dogs, that would be our greatest disgrace!”

”What we need to do is to lead Konoha on the right path with the true ’Will of Fire’!”

Hearing Yusuke’s words, Itachi’s expression showed agreement, and his eyes were filled with hope.

But since the conflict with Konoha’s high-ranking officials hadn’t been resolved, Itachi said worriedly, ”But now, Konoha’s high-ranking officials want to eliminate us. Although our clan is the first family of Konoha, even the ninja world, we are still far from matching the power of the entire village.”

Yusuke patted Itachi’s shoulder and laughed, ”Shisui had the same thoughts as you all along, which is why he went down the wrong path!”

”Our enemy has never been the village. The people Shisui has been serving with all his might don’t represent the entire village!”

”As long as we gain enough political power for the Uchiha clan in Konoha, we can stand toe-to-toe with the current Konoha high-ranking officials, even completely subdue them!”

Hearing Yusuke’s words, Itachi felt a sense of enlightenment.

Yusuke patted Itachi’s shoulder and said slowly, ”Our opponents are not as strong as you think. And the next era in Konoha will belong to the Uchiha clan!”

At this time, the Hokage Tower was still brightly lit. The Third Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen, was sitting in his office, waiting for Danzō to report back.
