Naruto: Zanka No Tachi

Chapter 83: NZNT: Chapter 83

On a dark and stormy night, a shadowy figure was stealthily searching for something on the outskirts of Konoha Village.

”It should be around here. Once I find the body of ’Shunshin Shisui,’ then the mission Orochimaru-sama gave me will be complete.” The figure muttered to himself.

This figure was Mizuki. He was one of Orochimaru’s spies in Konoha.

In the original story, because of the existence of the talented Kabuto, Orochimaru abandoned Mizuki and made Kabuto his spy in Konoha. ℴ

But now that Kabuto had been poached by Yusuke, Mizuki luckily became Orochimaru’s second choice.

Since being chosen by Orochimaru, Mizuki hadn’t felt fear or resistance. Instead, he felt it was a huge opportunity for him!

Mizuki was an ambitious man. Unfortunately, the harsh reality made him unable to see hope for realizing his ambitions.

He didn’t have any exceptional talent, nor was he as pure and righteous as Iruka. After graduating from the Ninja Academy, Mizuki blended into the crowd, just an unremarkable genin among many.

Mizuki himself knew that if he continued like this, he would only be able to become a chūnin in the future. This made him very dissatisfied.

But when he was at his most lost, Orochimaru, one of the legendary Sannin, extended an olive branch to him, helping him strengthen his physical abilities and teaching him some powerful jutsu.

With Orochimaru’s help, Mizuki quickly stood out among his peers, and soon after, he successfully became a chūnin.

This gave Mizuki hope for the future. Working for Orochimaru gave him a sense of joy, making him feel like a ninja of great value!

”I’m not ordinary after all! Iruka is just riding on the coattails of his ancestors. As for Anko, she’s just a third-rate ninja that Orochimaru-sama abandoned.”

”Only I, Mizuki, am a ninja with true extraordinary talent!”

Thinking about this, Mizuki smiled proudly in the darkness.

At this time, Mizuki had secretly collected body tissue from Danzō and Fugaku’s corpses. All he needed was to get Shisui’s body tissue, and he would have completed the mission Orochimaru had given him.

It was clear that Orochimaru wanted to gather materials for his ”Edo Tensei” technique so that he could summon enough powerful ninjas.

”Edo Tensei” was a forbidden technique developed by the Second Hokage, Senju Tobirama. As long as you used the body tissue of the deceased as material and sacrificed a living person as an offering, you could bring the deceased back to the world through the offering’s body, allowing the caster to control them.

Finding a suitable location, Mizuki formed hand seals and performed a secret technique Orochimaru had given him.

”Secret Technique: Corpse Search Technique!”

This technique allowed the caster to sense the corpses of those who had used chakra strongly in life. It was one of the reasons why Orochimaru could find the corpses of various masters.

”Found it!”

Soon, Mizuki discovered Shisui’s body in a hidden valley.

After collecting tissue from Shisui’s body, Mizuki immediately rushed to the location where he had been communicating with Orochimaru.

In a dense forest, there was a dilapidated stone monument with a Buddha statue carved on it.

Mizuki came to the monument and activated the mechanism beneath it. The stone monument slowly opened a small compartment, revealing a small scroll inside.

Mizuki first took out the scroll from the compartment, then placed the storage scroll containing the body tissue inside the compartment before restoring the mechanism of the stone monument.

This stone monument was the channel for Orochimaru and Mizuki to exchange information. The scroll Mizuki took out from the monument was a new mission that Orochimaru had given him.

”So, I’m supposed to contact that one?”

Mizuki opened the scroll and saw his new mission.

In Mizuki’s view, this mission was very dangerous, but he wasn’t afraid. Instead, he felt a sense of satisfaction in fulfilling his self-worth.

”I’m dealing with ninjas at the pinnacle of the ninja world. I, Mizuki, will surely be one of them in the future!”

In the Head of the Police Force’s office, Yusuke had just finished his daily training in the spirit world. He was sitting in his chair, resting.

The Konoha Research Institute was still under construction. Yusuke planned to train and develop jutsu in the institute once it was completed.

As for the Police Force office, he would leave it to Itachi and Souichiro. After all, he had already entrusted them with almost all of the Police Force’s work.

”Clan Leader, chūnin Mizuki says he has something important to see you. Should I let him in?”

At that moment, Yusuke’s assistant, Uchiha Haruyuki, knocked on the door and entered the office, respectfully addressing Yusuke.

”Mizuki?”

Yusuke naturally knew that he was Orochimaru’s man, but he didn’t expect him to take the initiative to contact him.

But since he dared to come, he must have been instructed by Orochimaru. It was likely that Orochimaru wanted to make a deal with him.

After thinking for a moment, Yusuke instructed Uchiha Haruyuki to bring Mizuki in.

Upon entering Yusuke’s office, Mizuki found himself inexplicably nervous.

The aura that Yusuke unconsciously exuded put immense pressure on him. Yusuke’s calm, still gaze made him feel uncomfortable all over.

When Yusuke and Hayama Shirakumo had led the team to Sunagakure for the Chunin Exams as instructor-level jōnin, Mizuki had been one of the team members. Although he wasn’t part of Yusuke’s team, he had still interacted with him.

Every time Yusuke’s gaze swept over him, Mizuki felt as if he had no secrets.

And now, this man had become one of the most powerful people in Konoha, second only to the Hokage in terms of status.

Bowing to Yusuke, Mizuki said respectfully, ”Advisor-sama, I am chūnin Mizuki. I have something important to report to you.”

Because of his nervousness, Mizuki felt that his speech was less fluent than usual. Even when facing the Third Hokage, he had never felt this way.

Forcing down his nervousness, Mizuki encouraged himself: ”He’s just a person too. He wouldn’t think about my identity. I’m going to shock this high-ranking official!”

”Orochimaru sent you, didn’t he? Go ahead. What does he want from me?” Yusuke said slowly.

Hearing Yusuke’s words, Mizuki was shocked.

The information that Orochimaru had given him mentioned that he hadn’t revealed his identity as a spy to anyone.

But now, Yusuke had immediately seen through his identity. This made Mizuki, who had just relaxed a little, nervous again.

”Was I not hiding well enough? Could someone else have discovered my identity?” Mizuki thought anxiously.

”Don’t worry. Besides me, no one else should be able to see through your identity.” Looking at Mizuki, who was shocked and anxious, Yusuke said calmly.

”What! Does he have mind-reading abilities? Can he see what I’m thinking?!” Mizuki was stunned. For a moment, he couldn’t speak.

Seeing Mizuki standing there speechless, Yusuke frowned slightly, ”I’m short on time. Speak quickly. I don’t have mind-reading abilities. I can’t see what you’re thinking.”
