Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Maybe because Chen Wen also knew Yang Feng, Qin Yi gradually started talking more.

After entering the valley, he looked around and asked, ”Bro, are you hiking too? Just now when you helped me up, I could smell that scent on you that only people in our line of work have.”

Chen Wen rolled his eyes.

That’s not a ”hiking” smell, that’s the smell on anyone who hasn’t showered for a long time.

”Since you know Yang Feng, do you know the Hua Country Exploration Association? Or the Huaguo Explorers Association, the Hiking Association?”

Chen Wen asked.

Hearing this, Qin Yi smacked his lips. ”I do know them, but people like us who just mess around for fun don’t qualify to join. I asked the Hiking Association before, I don’t meet their requirements. Bro, why are you asking?”

Chen Wen said calmly, ”Yang Feng and I are basically in the same association. He’s in the Hiking Division, I’m in the Survival Division.”

Hearing that, Qin Yi froze.

His expression visibly tightened.

”Survival Association?”

Sitting on the ground, Qin Yi said in some surprise, ”I heard Old Yang mention it once. He said the people in the Survival Association are all hardcore. So you’re... surviving out here in Qiangtang?”

”Yeah.”

Chen Wen nodded.

Qin Yi glanced at the pile of animal bones on one side of the valley and kept quiet.

Seeing that Qin Yi stopped talking, Chen Wen was happy to have some peace.

Taking advantage of the time, Chen Wen pulled out a fire starter and yak dung to make a fire, took out the yak’s rumen, then poured the water stored inside into the big iron pot.

He planned to boil some hot water to treat Qin Yi’s wounds.

That would barely count as taking care of someone Yang Feng knew.

While the water was boiling, Chen Wen asked, ”Since you don’t have a team or backup, what’s your plan next? If you need someone to get you out of here, I can help you contact a rescue team, but the price is a bit steep.”

Hearing that, Qin Yi sat on the ground, staring at the sky without saying a word for a long time.

After a while, though, he asked, ”Will these injuries heal? I mean in the short term.”

Chen Wen checked Qin Yi’s wounds and said, ”For the bruises, I’ll give you a hot compress later—might even be fine by today. But those open wounds are a bit troublesome.”

”I can help you clean them up and disinfect them, but I don’t have any medical‑grade supplies here, so...”

At that moment Qin Yi seemed to remember something and said, ”I brought a medical kit. Can that be useful?”

A medical kit?

Chen Wen glanced at the wrapping on Qin Yi’s finger. ”Take it out and let’s see. It’ll definitely be useful. As long as we disinfect and do some basic bandaging, it’ll be fine.”

Hearing this, Qin Yi’s face finally relaxed a bit.

He picked up his pack, took out the medical kit inside, and handed it to Chen Wen.

Chen Wen took it and opened it for a look.

It was a textbook civilian first‑aid kit.

Inside were some gauze, some bandages, medical cotton swabs, a bottle of powdered wound medicine, and some oral anti‑inflammatory capsules.

”Not bad, pretty standard. Everything in here is usable.”

Chen Wen gave a quick verdict, then explained his plan. ”In a bit I’ll use gauze dipped in water to clean your open wounds and get the surface grime off. I can see you already did some handling, but it’s pretty basic, so we need to clean again. It might hurt a bit, so you’ll have to grit your teeth.”

”Then I’ll use cotton swabs to dab some of the wound powder on. That might sting too. Also, you can take these anti‑inflammatories; they’ll help prevent the wound from getting infected.”

Listening to him, Qin Yi gave him a surprised look. ”Bro, you seem really good at this first‑aid stuff?”

At that, Chen Wen looked at Qin Yi with some disdain. ”I feel like this is the kind of thing every outdoor sports enthusiast should know.”

Qin Yi realized he’d been looked down on.

He rubbed his nose awkwardly, feeling a bit embarrassed.

Once the water was about ready, Chen Wen started treating Qin Yi’s wounds.

While he was working, Qin Yi couldn’t hold back from the pain and let out a few muffled groans.

And right then, maybe because Qin Yi’s voice was too loud, a Snow Leopard cub in the cave must have been startled.

It let out a faint cry. The sound wasn’t loud, but Qin Yi heard it clearly.

The call was like a cat’s meow, but rougher and huskier.

”Bro, inside that cave...”

Qin Yi glanced at the cave, eyes full of questions.

Chen Wen calmly pulled out a lie. ”There’s a cat I keep in the cave. It’s shy, so I didn’t let it come out.”

Keeping a cat?

Keeping a cat while doing survival?

Qin Yi chuckled twice, but his expression clearly showed he didn’t buy it.

Chen Wen didn’t bother explaining.

In the cave, the Snow Leopard picked up the fat head that had just cried out and carried it deeper inside.

You dumb kid!

The Snow Leopard gave the fat head a disgusted look. It cared about this eldest son that had almost gotten it killed, but there was definitely some annoyance mixed in.

...

Although Qin Yi didn’t press further about the ”cat” in the cave, in the conversations that followed he started probing Chen Wen in other ways.

Like casually asking what dangerous animals Chen Wen had run into on the plateau while they chatted.

Chen Wen didn’t say much, just kept talking about the Tibetan mastiffs and blue bears he’d encountered.

After he finished, he even warned Qin Yi to be careful.

Which made it awkward for Qin Yi to keep asking.

Very soon, it was noon.

Chen Wen went into the cave once, calmed the animals down, and told them they could eat freely.

Qin Yi outside definitely couldn’t smell the food.

Then Chen Wen took out some of his own food, planning to share a bit with Qin Yi.

After some back‑and‑forth, he felt that Qin Yi really wasn’t a poacher.

So he decided to show some goodwill and help Qin Yi get through his current trouble.

But he absolutely wouldn’t let Qin Yi find out about the Snow Leopards.

Qin Yi also felt that Chen Wen didn’t really seem like a bad guy, but the situation in Chen Wen’s valley still made him a little uneasy.

Lunch was mostly provided by Chen Wen, with Qin Yi contributing some as well.

As a man attempting a Qiangtang trek with no support, Qin Yi had brought quite a lot of food. But from Chen Wen’s professional perspective—

The stuff Qin Yi had brought was a bit amateur.

He’d packed a bunch of vacuum‑sealed chicken, even some drumsticks, which to Chen Wen looked less like someone crossing Qiangtang and more like someone on a picnic.

”Honestly, I’d suggest you just turn back now. Go any farther and it’ll be a true no‑man’s‑land.”

Chen Wen gave Qin Yi a very sincere warning. ”Once you’re out there, if anything goes wrong, you’ll only have yourself to rely on. And from what I’ve seen so far, I don’t think you’re really suited for a Qiangtang crossing.”

Qin Yi rubbed his nose and nodded. ”Even though I kind of feel the same way, I still want to give it a shot. Crossing Qiangtang... you could say it’s the dream of every hiker!”
