Chen Wen and Zhaxi Duntu rode horses, quickly following the Golden Eagle to the place where they found the horse carcass.

The two of them, along with the eagle, arrived at the foot of a hillside, where they saw the severely gnawed remains of an animal.

”It’s a horse. These bones are clearly horse bones!”

Zhaxi Duntu said, quickly walking to the side of the carcass.

He glanced at the condition of the remains, a glint of sorrow flashing in his eyes: ”This collar, it’s the one my horse wore!”

Hearing this, Chen Wen comforted Zhaxi Duntu.

At the same time, he sensitively noticed some issues. Although the horse had been eaten very cleanly, there was very little fur left here!

Generally speaking, when Tibetan Horse Bears feed, they don’t eat the fur.

Even the scavengers that come later don’t focus on eating the fur.

He felt there was something wrong here!

However, Zhaxi Duntu didn’t think of it that way. Although the Tibetan people are locals, they rarely see Tibetan Horse Bears hunting and eating livestock.

When they come across animal bones, it is usually from a long time ago, with mostly bare bones left.

So, Zhaxi Duntu didn’t feel there was a problem.

He said, ”It seems it’s not necessarily the poachers; it’s likely been eaten by a Tibetan Horse Bear.”

Chen Wen didn’t say much more. Since those poachers weren’t nearby, it showed that they had likely given up continuing to steal from Zhaxi Duntu’s livestock.

Telling Zhaxi Duntu the details now would only make him more anxious, without any other benefit.

Chen Wen merely reminded, ”Although it’s more likely eaten by a Tibetan Horse Bear, you should still keep an eye on the livestock to prevent them from getting lost or encountering danger.”

Hearing this, Zhaxi Duntu nodded.

As to whether he understood the reminder, Chen Wen felt that he probably did.

After this walk, Zhaxi Duntu felt much more at ease.

He gratefully looked at Chen Wen, pondering how to repay him.

Soon, Zhaxi Duntu recalled the survivors he had encountered before, who were in dire need of supplies and food, so why not give some to Chen Wen?

With this thought in mind, after returning to the valley, Zhaxi Duntu began instructing his wife to entertain Chen Wen.

Meanwhile, he went to where the supplies were stored and carefully selected some items.

He picked out the goods that those survivors liked before, put them in a large yak skin bag, intending to give them to Chen Wen.

On Chen Wen’s side.

He drank some butter tea and ate some yak jerky that Zhaxi Duntu had personally dried.

He was also preparing to take his leave.

At the time of departure, Zhaxi Duntu’s family had shown much kindness towards Chen Wen.

Zhaxi Duntu handed over the food he had prepared to Chen Wen.

Seeing Chen Wen trying to decline, Zhaxi Duntu directly said, ”This is your reward for helping me find the horse, it absolutely fits your requirements and regulations, take it!”

With no choice but to accept it, Chen Wen took the yak bag.

Gesang Meiduo also put the drink that Chen Wen had not opened into the bag, saying somewhat embarrassedly, ”Before, I misunderstood you, I’m sorry.”

Chen Wen smiled warmly: ”It’s okay, under normal circumstances, seeing how I’m dressed, it’s natural to link me to poachers, no need to apologize.”

Then Chen Wen looked at Zhaxi Duntu, reminding him once again, ”Although those people may have left this area, you still need to be on guard. Be particularly careful since you have your whole family with you.”

Zhaxi Duntu nodded, indicating he understood.

...

Having left the valley where Zhaxi Duntu’s family temporarily resided, Chen Wen circled the lake, walking slowly, and soon returned to his area.

The new neighbors seemed nice and didn’t show any hostility towards him.

In the coming days, he thought he could get along with them and see if they could trade anything.

Chen Wen thought.

After returning to his cave, Chen Wen opened the yak skin bag.

Looking at the bag, he felt secretly delighted: this bag is a very nice tool for him as well.

It could hold some supplies to carry around, which was indeed very convenient.

Besides the nice bag, the things inside also thrilled Chen Wen.

”Wow, this must be the legendary Tsampa!”

Chen Wen exclaimed, pulling out a plastic bag and looking at its contents.

At this point, the Snow Leopard and the Golden Eagle both came over.

Seeing the flour-like substance inside, the Golden Eagle immediately lost interest.

It only cared about three types of food: meat, fruit, and clean water.

Clearly, this stuff wasn’t on its menu.

The Snow Leopard felt the same, but upon seeing the Tsampa, it seemed to remember something: ”I recall the family that rescued me also had something like this.”

Chen Wen nodded, explaining, ”Yes, this is the traditional food of the people living in this region, considered a staple, and almost every household has it.”

”Moreover, I did encounter a group of people today, but I can’t be sure if they were the ones who saved you. To be safe, I didn’t ask directly, but today I’m almost sure they are good people. So tomorrow, I’ll subtly probe whether they were the ones who helped you or know those who did.”

Upon hearing this, the Snow Leopard nodded repeatedly.

After the Snow Leopard left, Chen Wen continued to look at the Tsampa.

Tsampa is a specialty snack of Tibet and one of the traditional main foods of Tibetan herdsmen.

It’s somewhat similar to the fried flour of the northern region of Hua Country.

However, northern fried flour is milled first and then fried, while Tsampa is fried first and then milled, without removing the husk.

Chen Wen had heard of the method to make Tsampa.

The steps aren’t very difficult, mainly sun-drying the barley, frying it until it’s cooked, milling it finely, and not sieving it. The resulting flour is the edible Tsampa.

There are particular ways to eat Tsampa.

In the Tibetan Area, it’s common to put some butter in a bowl, pour in tea water, add some Tsampa flour, and mix it with your hands.

There’s another more complex method.

It involves putting cream in a bowl first, then adding some Tsampa, some milk residue, and pouring in some milk tea. You press the Tsampa into a lump and eat it with the milk tea.

In short, there are many ways to eat Tsampa, and Chen Wen himself doesn’t need to be that particular.

What’s more, Tsampa is rich in nutrients and has a high calorie content, great for staving off hunger and cold.

More importantly, it’s a staple food, rich in carbohydrates!

Chen Wen suddenly remembered how much he wanted to eat staples before.

Goodness, how lucky I am.

Just when I wanted carbohydrates, a herdsman gave me Tsampa.

Such good luck!

Inside the remaining food, Chen Wen checked, finding some butter, cream, and a block of brick tea.

There were even some milk candy-like things, which are common dairy products in the Tibetan Area.

All in all, the contents were very rich!
