Wilderness Survival with Druid System

As the Snow Leopard gave birth to its first cub, both Chen Wen and Duoji felt somewhat relieved.

The two looked at this ”big mouse” that hadn’t yet opened its eyes, their gaze filled with both joy and concern.

After a while, the placenta was expelled by the Snow Leopard.

Just as Chen Wen was thinking of clearing the placenta out, the Snow Leopard followed its instincts and swallowed it.

This scene left Chen Wen in awe.

But Duoji beside him was used to such scenes, and calmly explained, ”This is a very normal phenomenon. Most female mammals swallow the placenta to restore energy during childbirth and better nourish their cubs afterwards. They gain nutrients and hormones to stimulate their bodies.”

In this aspect, Chen Wen was indeed a novice.

He was amazed, unable to imagine that animals possessed such abilities.

With the Snow Leopard having consumed the placenta, it once again began the birthing process.

Duoji feared Chen Wen might not be clear, so he explained again, ”We have a saying here, ’Cats give three and dogs give four,’ you probably have it too, meaning cats generally give birth to three and dogs four; Snow Leopards are like Big Cats, they generally can give birth to three cubs.”

”If it’s the first time giving birth, it might be just two or even one cub. But judging from this Snow Leopard’s belly, there should be at least one more cub.”

Chen Wen nodded slightly, having heard of the saying ’Cats give three and dogs give four.’

The two waited at the cave entrance for a while. About twenty minutes later, the Snow Leopard once again emitted a series of low growls.

Chen Wen said he’d go help the Snow Leopard.

Perhaps due to the lasting lubricating effect of olive oil or maybe because of its body size.

The second cub was slowly delivered.

This little Snow Leopard was very weak, visibly smaller than the first one.

Chen Wen gently placed this little Snow Leopard in front of the Snow Leopard.

He sensed the cub was very light, weighing only about three hundred grams.

As he gently laid it down, Chen Wen bestowed the Animal Doctor’s blessing.

To prevent the health condition of the little Snow Leopard from deteriorating.

Then Chen Wen once again bestowed the Animal Doctor’s blessing on the Snow Leopard.

However, the effect of the Animal Doctor diminishes with frequent use, and the same animal can only have one entry per survival encounter.

This was a rule Chen Wen had discovered through exploration.

After arranging the Snow Leopard comfortably, Chen Wen retreated once again.

While the Snow Leopard continued to lick the second little Snow Leopard’s body, helping it slowly acclimate to the world.

...

”It seems there are three in total, but possibly due to insufficient subsequent nutrition, starting from the second cub, the size of the little Snow Leopard is smaller.”

Duoji observed the situation and felt completely relaxed, ”No matter how big the third cub is, it won’t be larger than the first one.”

Hearing this, Chen Wen nodded slightly, ”In that case, is the difficult birth ordeal completely over this time?”

”Yes, it’s over!”

Duoji flashed a bright smile, ”Mother and child are safe!”

Chen Wen couldn’t resist smiling, but quickly restrained his smile.

After all, celebrating prematurely is not a wise move!

Soon, the third little Snow Leopard was smoothly delivered.

Just as Duoji had said, the third cub was also very small, only slightly larger than the second.

Chen Wen placed the three little Snow Leopards beside the Snow Leopard, feeling deeply moved.

This time his role as an obstetrician had clearly been successful.

The birth of three little Snow Leopards made his team stronger!

Duoji brought Chen Wen to the Snow Leopard’s side, and this time the Snow Leopard no longer showed alertness or tension towards Duoji. Its enhanced brain could recognize Duoji’s goodwill and assistance.

Duoji checked the three little Snow Leopards and said to Chen Wen in a low voice, ”They’re all healthy little ones. Just look at their appearances; they’ll be excellent hunters on the plateau in the future!”

Upon hearing this, Chen Wen nodded with a smile, ”Indeed, look at their legs and paws, quite strong!”

After speaking, Chen Wen rubbed his temples, feeling a bit of a headache.

These three little ones aren’t special animals; their ultimate home won’t be Chen Wen’s dreamland, but this plateau.

So raising these three little ones will be complicated!

Chen Wen couldn’t help but think.

However, that was all a matter for later.

...

As the Snow Leopard recovered its strength, Chen Wen and Duoji quietly left the cave.

Outside, they met up with Zhaxi Duntu and Gesang who were accompanying them, and headed to the valley.

Chen Wen picked some clean, flat stones and stacked them together, providing everyone with a place to sit.

Under the dazzling starry sky above, everyone started discussing quietly.

”The birthing process is over, what needs to be done next?”

Chen Wen looked at Duoji.

He’s still a novice in animal reproduction, while Duoji barely counts as an entry-level expert.

Duoji habitually scratched his head and said, ”I’m not quite sure, but I feel it’s pretty similar to humans, and cats and dogs?”

Zhaxi Duntu nodded slightly, ”It should be about supplementing nutrition, stimulating milk production for nursing the three little ones well.”

Chen Wen noted these tasks and continued asking, ”Specific foods? What food would be best?”

This time both Zhaxi Duntu and Duoji scratched their heads.

They weren’t quite clear either.

But fortunately, Zhaxi Duntu was quick on his feet and decisively rode off to ask his mother and wife.

Chen Wen and Duoji, along with the curious Gesang, continued discussing.

”Actually, from a nutritional perspective, I feel supplementation should focus on three aspects.”

Based on the knowledge he possessed, Chen Wen said, ”First, high protein: fish, meat, eggs, dairy, to replenish lost nutrients; second, fat, it’s the hard currency for replenishing energy consumption; third, water and electrolytes, just supplement with some saltwater.”

Listening to Chen Wen’s words, Duoji nodded thoughtfully.

He felt Chen Wen’s reasoning made a lot of sense.

”This... we don’t really understand these principles, but what you’re saying is the food we provide to mothers after childbirth here. However, for animals, it’s much more casual.”

Duoji said.

Chen Wen asked Duoji more questions on how to care for animals post-birth.

Duoji shared what he knew with Chen Wen, giving Chen Wen some knowledge on animal care.

When Zhaxi Duntu returned, he not only brought back news but also the food needed.

Chen Wen accepted a small bag from Zhaxi Duntu’s hand.

”Inside are eggs. My mother said mixing these with meat is the most nourishing! Also, there’s some yak milk powder, which can be mixed after being diluted, and a bit of sugar.”

Zhaxi Duntu continued: ”But she said the best for milk production is fish from the river, which we haven’t seen...”
