Wilderness Survival with Druid System

From the association’s side.

Looking at the scene from Chen Wen’s side, Qu Yong quickly switched the camera to another area.

As of now, among all the contestants, Chen Wen is considered the most stable one.

This time in the Mountain Extreme Challenge, he’s steady!

Qu Yong thought.

However, just at this moment, he suddenly received news from the team below.

An Indian contestant has been seriously injured!

Qu Yong was startled; he remembered this Indian contestant.

This person has been trying to approach the central area since the survival challenge began, considered quite an oddball.

After all, the core area of Qiangtang has a large number of animals, including carnivores, approaching recklessly is not a good idea.

”Was it an animal attack? Is there any threat to life?”

Qu Yong asked.

The staff shook his head, ”No threat to life, but it wasn’t an animal that hurt him, it was a trap!”

A trap?

Qu Yong looked at the staff in surprise, ”A trap from another contestant? Or...”

The staff, while retrieving the video, said, ”It wasn’t done by our people, it was a deep pit, and at the bottom, there’s a large animal trap. The Indian contestant fell into the pit, fortunately, he didn’t trigger the trap, but he fell heavily on the edge of the trap and got seriously injured.”

Hearing this, Qu Yong frowned, ”So, suspected poachers?”

”Yes.”

Qu Yong thought for a moment, then picked up his phone to contact the side of the reserve.

Soon, the other party gave a definite answer: ”It should be poachers. Our patrol team has also found quite a few poaching traces in recent days, and moreover...”

The reserve official in contact with Qu Yong spoke softly: ”We suspect there’s an internal problem within the reserve. This group of poachers is obtaining information from the reserve very timely, several joint efforts to combat them have been evaded, and we currently only roughly know their numbers, nothing else.”

Upon hearing this, Qu Yong felt a headache.

Encountering poaching at this time... It’s really tough!

After hanging up the phone, Qu Yong reported the situation to the committee on the association side, requesting to notify the contestants of this news.

About ten minutes later.

The review was approved.

Qu Yong breathed a sigh of relief, a look of ease flashed in his eyes.

This information, he most wanted Chen Wen to know.

After all, among these contestants, only Chen Wen had dealt with poachers.

...

When Chen Wen received the news, he was happily catching pikas.

With Golden Eagle scouting, Chen Wen attacking, and Duoji assisting.

Even the most cunning pika on this land couldn’t escape the hunting of this duo and eagle.

Moreover, their hunting method is quite simple and efficient.

Generally, Golden Eagle discovers the pika and reports the location, Chen Wen and Duoji ride towards the pika from both sides.

Chen Wen holds a long spear, Duoji holds something long and similar to a harpoon, but with many tines.

With Chen Wen concealed approaching the pika, they suddenly launch an attack.

Chen Wen can catch at least two pikas at a time.

Meanwhile, Golden Eagle swoops down, attacking from the direction of the burrow to hinder the pikas’ return to their nest.

Duoji rides over, swinging the tines constantly to injure or kill the pikas.

The trio cooperates once, catching at least five pikas.

Golden Eagle’s scouting ability is terrifying, it can find a nest of pikas approximately every five minutes.

This terrifying efficiency allowed Chen Wen to fill nearly three-quarters of a yak skin bag within half an hour.

”That’s about enough; catching more would be excessive, need to store.”

Chen Wen gestured to Golden Eagle to descend.

Beside him, Duoji still seemed to want more.

This time he truly enjoyed the hunt.

Various pikas, like not having cost, were precisely hit by him, casually handed to Chen Wen.

He’s caught pikas so many times from childhood to now, but it’s most satisfying this time!

Just then, the satellite phone always strapped to Chen Wen’s waist started to beep.

Chen Wen answered the phone and received the news.

His expression changed slightly.

Could it be so coincidental?

He just suspected the staff’s expression seemed off, and the association side suddenly had poacher news, even with a mole inside?

However, Chen Wen quickly shook his head.

The staff doesn’t seem like a higher-up; he shouldn’t have access to those urgent incidents.

Moreover, he should have misjudged; after all, being staff of the reserve, should be verified personnel.

Especially after hearing Zhaxi Duntu speak about his father’s situation, Chen Wen has only respect for these staff in his heart.

He didn’t dwell on it, just kept this incident in mind.

Then he and Duoji began to return.

...

Back at the camp, Chen Wen took the pikas to the lakeside for processing.

Essentially skinning and removing the entrails.

He discarded the entrails and skins over a hundred meters from the lakeside, allowing them to be food for crows.

However, just as Chen Wen was about to bring the processed pikas back to the camp to store them.

Suddenly.

Chen Wen felt something was not right.

He noticed a black dot rapidly approaching from the distance.

Wiping the sweat from his eyes, Chen Wen quickly relied on the [High Mountain Watcher] to see what it was.

Tibetan Horse Bear!

Though it’s just one, its size is considered quite large among Tibetan Horse Bears!

How did this thing get provoked?

Chen Wen frowned, deciding to bring the food back to camp before checking what this creature intended.

As for evading the Tibetan Horse Bear’s nose, Chen Wen didn’t feel he could manage.

This creature’s olfactory system is like that of a brown bear, among the top on land.

So he must frighten it away, make it not dare come again.

Thinking of this, Chen Wen picked up the pikas and carried them to the camp.

When he took up his long spear and arrived at the slope, the Tibetan Horse Bear already arrived and was devouring the pika entrails ferociously.

Inside the camp, having seen the snow leopard and planning to leave, Duoji also rushed over.

Upon seeing the Tibetan Horse Bear, Duoji was somewhat tense, but he remained calm.

Duoji quietly reminded Chen Wen, ”We must drive it away! Once it smells the snow leopard and the cub, it will go on a killing spree!”

Normally, carnivores will attack other carnivores’ offspring within the same area.

This is a self-protection instinct of carnivores.

After all, the total resources of an area are limited; once a new carnivore grows up, those resources will be divided by it, reducing the amount and chance of food obtained by itself.

So, it’s best to eliminate the threat in the cradle.

This Tibetan Horse Bear, upon smelling the snow leopard cub, will definitely do this!

Chen Wen slightly nodded, ”What do you usually use here to drive away these things?”

”Firecrackers.”

Duoji glanced at the direction of their camp and said, ”Firecrackers are the most effective; one string can make a bear flee far away swiftly.”

Indeed, as Duoji said, firecrackers are the most effective in driving away wild beasts.

The loud sound of firecrackers can deter animals sensitive to hearing, while the flames produced during combustion can make animals sensitive to sight avoid, and the smell of burning gunpowder can make animals sensitive to smell evade.

A triad of visual, olfactory, and auditory strikes can make even a brown bear flee awkwardly.

However...

”We have firecrackers at home, but right now....”

Duoji shook his head; by the time he goes and returns, the bear would have smelled the snow leopard, launching an attack.

Seeing Duoji had no method, Chen Wen picked up his long spear, ”Hide, let me try!”
