After looking at the entry, Chen Wen also moved the dried meat into the cave.

On one hand, the evening is not suitable for air drying, and the night temperatures in Qiangtang are low, making rain or snow likely.

On the other hand, with the increasing amount of food, Chen Wen also needs to consider the carnivores in the wilderness.

In Qiangtang, there are even some camp thieves that come to steal food.

Such as Tibetan foxes or snow leopards.

It’s even possible that blue bears might come, bringing Chen Wen an unexpected surprise.

So necessary precautions are still needed.

After ensuring that everything was foolproof, Chen Wen blocked the cave with stones.

Through the crevices between the stones, he could still get oxygen from outside, and the stones could provide defense and warning.

With all these precautions, Chen Wen slept soundly.

While Chen Wen was sleeping, other contestants were struggling in dire straits.

Four days was enough for some infiltrated contestants to show their shortcomings.

A contestant from India encountered issues with insufficient cold protection measures at night, and by the afternoon of the fourth day, showed symptoms of fever.

In the evening, due to the worsening condition.

Ultimately, the Indian contestant chose to quit, becoming the first one eliminated from this survival challenge.

And at the same time.

In the afternoon, during hunting, Vikram discovered traces of a Nepalese contestant.

But he didn’t act rashly.

Instead, he confirmed the opponent’s camp location and initiated a night attack!

The night was dark with strong winds.

Vikram stealthily entered the opponent’s camp—in a valley.

This valley didn’t have the natural advantages like where Chen Wen was.

The Nepalese contestant lay under the valley’s rock wall, using stones to build a small shelter for himself.

Vikram approached silently, and easily eliminated him when the Nepalese contestant was completely unprepared.

Vikram thus became the first to obtain a winning ticket—by eliminating a contestant!

Simultaneously, Vikram successfully seized the Nepalese contestant’s supplies and tools.

Moreover, Vikram used excessive force during the attack, delivering a heavy knee blow that severely injured the Nepalese contestant, likely breaking a few ribs.

Recovery will take at least half a year.

Vikram’s ferocity made the association a bit concerned.

This type of person will definitely not be satisfied with just eliminating one person and waiting for survival to end shamefully.

He will certainly seize opportunities to eliminate more people, gaining survival advantage while also plundering the opponent’s prize money.

Seeing Vikram’s performance, Qu Yong couldn’t help but worry.

Could Chen Wen gain the upper hand against this guy?

...

The next morning.

Chen Wen didn’t think about others; he focused on his own survival.

Checked the state of the leather; it wasn’t perfect yet.

Chen Wen decided to leave it out for another day.

After moving the dried meat rack outside, Chen Wen grabbed the military rations bag and planned to get water.

The golden eagle, with nothing better to do, left the camp with Chen Wen.

Meanwhile, the snow leopard seemed to be ready to give birth, acting lazy today by staying inside the cave finding a comfortable spot to settle.

Chen Wen temporarily didn’t bother with the snow leopard, as he couldn’t do much.

At this moment, relying only on its instincts, Chen Wen could at best give the snow leopard a blessing of the ”Animal Doctor”.

...

Leaving the camp and arriving at the lakeside.

Before descending the mountain, Chen Wen noticed a few new faces by the lake.

Wild Yaks!

A group of pure black-haired, huge animals were drinking water by the lake!

Chen Wen crouched on the slope, watching these colossal creatures from afar.

The wild yaks, indeed living up to their massive weight of around half a ton.

Just watching from afar, Chen Wen could feel the overpowering presence of the wild yaks!

These guys are absolutely not easy to provoke!

Thinking this, Chen Wen glanced at his long spear.

From a distance, he was confident he could seriously injure a wild yak.

But if it were slightly off or not immediately lethal, allowing the yak to get closer.

Then he himself would be in danger!

So, hunting wild yaks requires careful planning.

Actually, compared to wild horses, Chen Wen leaned towards hunting wild yaks.

Firstly, because of their large size, abundant meat that, once made into dried beef, is enough for dozens of days of food later on.

Besides, yak meat must taste much better than horse meat!

Secondly, the skin, horns, tongue, and skull of wild yaks can be used to make various tools.

The added value is considerable!

Moreover, it seems their perception abilities are still inferior to Tibetan horses. After descending the mountain, Chen Wen was about 150 meters away, yet they hadn’t noticed him.

If he deliberately hides, Chen Wen feels he can get as close as 70 meters!

At this distance, Tibetan horses would certainly have detected him long ago.

But the wild yaks remained oblivious.

However, without proper preparation, Chen Wen did not attempt hunting.

He merely observed the group of wild yaks, then went with the golden eagle to fetch water.

While walking with the golden eagle around, he used his long spear to shoot two pikas, bringing them back to feed the snow leopard and the golden eagle today.

These two creatures don’t eat regularly; they eat whenever they’re hungry and are full for days afterward.

So food reserves are sufficient for them.

With water and pikas in hand, Chen Wen returned to his shelter.

The snow leopard still seemed to be lethargic, looking as if it hadn’t fully awoken.

Chen Wen approached the snow leopard, giving it a blessing.

But it was of no use.

The snow leopard remained the same; it couldn’t say what was wrong when asked.

Therefore, Chen Wen could only keep an eye on the snow leopard’s next move, and if worse comes to worst, he would have to seek help from the association.

Having observed the snow leopard’s condition, Chen Wen didn’t idle.

Having confirmed the location of the wild yaks this morning, he planned to find an opportunity during this period to hunt a wild yak and, while there’s still time, make dried beef.

Prepare the food reserves.

Additionally, if the wild yak’s stomach is handled properly, it should be able to be turned into a water pouch.

During his time in the Great Sand Desert, Chen Wen realized that the stomach of some herbivores can be used as water pouches.

He intends to try this again.

However, hunting wild yaks is not like previous hunts, where getting close and throwing the long spear would suffice.

Wild yaks are violent, with thick skins.

And besides the long spear and dagger, Chen Wen doesn’t have other tools to injure wild yaks.

Crucially, the animals can’t help much; it’s entirely up to Chen Wen himself.

Therefore, thorough planning is essential.

Otherwise, rash hunting of wild yaks would be like serving oneself as prey!

In the morning, while busy with daily maintenance work at the camp, Chen Wen pondered how to hunt wild yaks.

A morning’s worth of thought yielded decent results.

Chen Wen had already outlined the basic steps for hunting wild yaks.

Given the massive size of wild yaks and the fact they’re herd animals, the hunt needs to start with three steps.
