Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 499: Chapter 48: Hunting Owl Organization

Masai Mara Wildlife Reserve.

A white man, roughly in his fifties with a full beard, was holding a hunting rifle, aiming at the male lion ahead.

The young male lion, attracted by blood and flesh, was slowly approaching from a distance.

”Come on, darling, get closer, closer!”

The white man had a cruel smile on his lips.

Just as the lion entered shooting range and the white man was about to fire.

Beep beep beep, beep beep beep...

A burst of short static noise sounded.

The lion’s hearing was quite good; upon hearing the noise, it turned its head and ran.

”Damn it!”

The white man angrily struck the hunting rifle on the ground, full of murderous intent as he took out the buzzing object.

A specially made phone.

”Chloe! Why call at this time! You’ve scared away my prey!”

The white man furiously shouted, making the lion in the distance run faster.

On the other end of the call, Chloe’s tone was very calm: ”Boss, I felt you needed to know about this immediately.”

”What is it! If it’s not important for the organization, when we get back, I’ll carve out your lover’s heart!”

The white man spoke in a vicious tone.

”Ha, that woman’s heart might be quite tasty.”

Chloe spoke the most cruel words with the calmest tone.

”Get on with it!”

The white man yelled angrily.

Only then did Chloe say: ”All our insiders in Hua Country have been uprooted.”

Hmm?

The white man’s anger suddenly dissipated, replaced by extreme calmness: ”Tell me, what happened?”

”Xavier fell, his previous activities were uncovered by the Hua Country police, and to save his own life, he confessed everything.”

Chloe’s words made the veins on the white man’s forehead continually throb.

The white man took a deep breath: ”His family seems to be in South America.”

Chloe had already anticipated this ”I’ve already sent someone there.”

”Very good.”

The corner of the white man’s mouth twitched, as if smiling: ”How did Xavier fall? He was more cunning and cautious than the red foxes of the Northern European forests.”

Chloe’s tone remained calm: ”Someone came to me from Xavier’s side, he told me the whole story, and the person who truly brought Xavier down was a young man named Chen Wen.”

”Chen Wen? That name sounds familiar!”

The white man said thoughtfully: ”He’s the one who hunted elephants in Caprivi before, isn’t he?”

”That’s him.”

Chloe said: ”This guy is skilled in beast taming, he seemed to use beast taming to make Xavier make mistakes multiple times, eventually bringing him down.”

The white man took a breath: ”He seems to be a wilderness survivor, tell the people below, whoever can hunt him down in an honorable duel in the wilderness will become the organization’s third leader!”

Chloe’s tone finally showed some fluctuation: ”You value him that much?”

”No, I just find him very disgusting.”

The white man wrapped the hunting rifle in a cloth and threw it onto the pickup truck.

A dying leopard was hit by the rifle, letting out a wail.

Hearing the wailing, the white man showed an expression of enjoyment.

”Understood.”

Chloe chuckled: ”I will pass on the message, boss.”

”Very good.”

The white man got into the pickup and started the engine: ”Just right, the national park here needs some extra achievements, once the third leader is chosen, let him bring people over here, my public identity needs more achievements as cover.”

”Ha, I knew it.”

Chloe’s voice was filled with schadenfreude.

...

The white man hung up the phone, hurrying along the road.

He soon noticed a jeep of the same model ahead.

He honked twice to attract the other’s attention.

The white man stuck his head out as the other party hit the brakes.

”Mr. Kode? Where have you been?”

The other party recognized the white man, to be precise, the entire reserve knew him.

This gentleman named Kode had high moral character and loved animals; he was also the leader of the reserve’s security team.

During his tenure, countless poachers had fallen at his hands.

Thus, Mr. Kode was highly respected within the reserve.

The white man, namely Kode, showed a look of pity: ”While on patrol, I found a leopard shot by poachers.”

Kode got out of the car, walked to the modified cargo box in the back, and dragged down the dead leopard.

”Oh my! Such a poor creature, damn poachers!”

On the opposing pickup truck, the patrol team members looked furious: ”Did you catch him?”

”No, I didn’t, the car noise was too loud, and he escaped as soon as he heard me.”

Kode said, sighing: ”It’s such a pity!”

The patrol team members shared his regret.

Finally, one of them said: ”If that’s so, Mr. Kode, should we process the leopard as usual?”

”Yes, after it’s dead, that’s its only value now.”

Kode said: ”Help me skin it.”

”Certainly, sir.”

...

Chen Wen did not know that the two de facto leaders of the Hunting Owl had issued an assassination order for him.

Of course, even if he knew, he wouldn’t worry much about it.

He had read some information on the Hunting Owl organization.

They were a group very good at hunting alone.

Their operation style was similar to that of Xavier; a core member of the organization would come to a poaching region.

Then develop three to four peripheral personnel locally.

Form a small-scale poaching gang to poach.

Although the number of animals killed each time was not a lot, this group seemed to specialize in poaching rare animals, with particularly high success rates.

Therefore, they had considerable notoriety among the countries of the world.

Of course, it was an infamous reputation.

Some countries have conducted purges against them, especially in Africa, where Kenya and Tanzania were among the most heavily poached areas.

The governments of the two countries had conducted numerous purges against the Hunting Owl and other poaching organizations.

The Hunting Owl was the least affected by these actions.

Their core leaders were so mysterious that no one even knew their names.

This kind of small-scale elite group’s operation was quite clever in the face of national governments.

But to Chen Wen, it couldn’t be said that they were walking right into a trap, but they were certainly on a path to self-destruction.

One on one, Chen Wen feared no one.

Even if the other party had firearms.

Therefore, Chen Wen did not regard the Hunting Owl as a chief threat.

After everything was settled in Yun Province, Chen Wen wore a mask and took a flight to the northeast.

He arrived at the zoo and checked on his animals.

The few animals he had tamed in Yun Province had arrived safely and were getting along amicably with the previous ones.

The Eurasian Eagle-Owl, the Crested Serpent Eagle, Golden Eagle, and Snowy Owl warmly welcomed the addition of the Crested Honey Buzzard.

Upon learning that the Crested Honey Buzzard called itself Gray Wing, the Golden Eagle and Snowy Owl were pleasantly surprised.

Such a self-aware newcomer was fantastic!

The Yellow-Throated Marten and Clouded Leopard, introduced by the Bobcat, also successfully befriended the Canada Lynx.

However, what made the Canada Lynx a bit frustrated was that these newcomers both seemed quite strong.

Its ranking in combat prowess not only failed to rise but actually dropped several places.

As for the Wild Boar, it bonded well with the Hippopotamus.

Due to its large size, the Hippo had been quite lonely for a while.

After all, the only one who could play with it was Chen Wen.

But after the Wild Boar arrived, these two large creatures could play together.

Though the Wild Boar wasn’t as heavy as the Hippo, it had thick skin and muscle strength.

Truly like a biological sibling to the Hippo from different parents.

The two animals frolicked in the mud by the pond, and for the first time in a while, the Hippo felt joy.
