Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 462: Chapter 11: An Eagle

The rescue team’s communication channel.

Chen Wen heard someone talking in the channel, so he amplified the sound a bit.

”B group, B group, where are you guys?”

”A group, A group, we’ve encountered some unexpected situations. There was a risk of a landslide at our campsite just now, so we moved forward a bit.”

”Hiss, we saw it. A landslide did happen! Are you all okay?”

”We’re okay. We’re all at the new campsite. Are you coming?”

A group over there, following a burst of conversation.

said, ”No, after 06’s survey, it’s not suitable to cross this area now. It’s too dark. We’ll set off tomorrow.”

”Then what are you going to do? You don’t have anyone skilled in building shelters over there, right? It’s windy and rainy, and the night temperatures are low in the mountains. Can you hold out?”

”05 and 06 know some things. Don’t worry about us. You guys rest first!”

Listening to the communication between A and B groups, Chen Wen couldn’t help but interject, ”A group, A group, can you hear me?”

The channel was silent for a moment.

said, ”Yes, second team, what’s up?”

”It’s like this, I remember you have raincoats. You can go to the ridge, find two pieces of wood, and lean them against a tree to form a triangular space. Then lay the raincoat outside, which can serve as a simple shelter for two to three people.”

Chen Wen spoke based on his impressions, ”Make sure to choose a ridge area with lots of trees. Also, if you feel cold, you can do some brief exercises to raise your core temperature.”

Hearing Chen Wen’s suggestion, they communicated briefly over there and responded, ”We are looking for the area you mentioned. It’s not very cold, thanks!”

”You’re welcome, stay safe.”

Chen Wen said.

...

Over at A group.

After 01 relayed Chen Wen’s words to everyone, they all started searching for the spot Chen Wen mentioned.

was quite experienced.

In less than three minutes, he found a higher altitude ridge.

”This place works. There are many plants and the terrain is high.”

notified everyone.

Everyone gathered, carefully inspecting it.

Very similar to what Chen Wen described.

”This is it, let’s build a shelter here!”

said.

Everyone immediately got busy.

Someone picked up the wood, went to a big tree, and slanted the two pieces of wood against it.

Others took off their raincoats, spread them out, and tied them to the wood with ropes.

”Looking at it... doesn’t seem quite right!”

”Hard to say, seems like it’d blow away with the wind.”

”Why not try crawling in?”

05, being hands-on, crawled directly inside.

In the narrow space, 05 opened a small warming stove, and the heat quickly radiated outward.

The heat radiated to the raincoat, but was blocked by the material, and then bounced back.

After waiting for several seconds, 05 stuck his head out and said, ”It’s good, it can block the wind and rain, and it’s very warm!”

Upon hearing this, people outside eagerly crawled in.

Though they’re not afraid of the cold, no one wants to freeze.

After entering the small shelter, everyone immediately felt the warmth.

”Wow, if we had this during field training back then, I wouldn’t have gotten an ’incomplete’!”

couldn’t help but speak up.

Judging by the accent, 03 seems to be from the south.

”Using tools, we’re indeed not as skilled as those survivalists.”

said cheerfully, ”But if we have nothing and have to rely on our bodies, I can take on ten!”

”Blowhard, just go to sleep already.”

said.

In another suggested shelter, everyone also appreciated Chen Wen’s idea.

Even 01 contacted Chen Wen, ”Second team, your idea is really good! We can rest now.”

”An idea is just an idea, your actions make it effective.”

Chen Wen, who hadn’t yet fallen asleep, replied, ”Rest early, I’ll come find you tomorrow.”

Upon hearing this, 01 immediately conveyed the markings they made along the way to Chen Wen.

But Chen Wen laughed and said, ”I already know. Plus, my cat remembers your scent. See you tomorrow.”

After speaking, Chen Wen put down the communication device.

A group’s curiosity was immediately ignited.

When did he find out?

Also, can a cat smell scents?

B group wasn’t asleep either, and at this moment, they turned to 09, who was the trainer for the military dog Black Tiger.

”Can cats be trained?”

Someone asked.

shook his head, ”No, most cats have low intelligence, and they lack sociality to understand commands. Training them is difficult. Even if one can be tamed, the time and effort would be enough to train seven or eight military dogs.”

”Wow, how did this guy manage it?”

shook his head, expressing that he didn’t know either. His curiosity was strong enough to want to talk with Chen Wen.

With curiosity, group one gradually fell asleep, as did Chen Wen.

...

A night passed.

Chen Wen woke up promptly in the morning.

Once awake, Chen Wen activated the [Wings (Golden Eagle)] intending to fly high and check the situation.

But as soon as he took off, Chen Wen frowned.

As he flew higher and higher, the unease in his heart grew stronger.

”These rain clouds are way too thick!”

Looking at the dense clouds overhead, Chen Wen couldn’t help but say, ”What’s up with all this warm, humid air accumulating in the south?”

At that moment, the communication device rang.

Group one began their activities.

”B group, stay put; we’ll head over soon.”

”Received!”

”Second team, when are you moving out?”

”Right away.”

Chen Wen replied, quickly descending, and reminded group one, ”The rain clouds in the sky are thick, and it’s very likely to rain heavily in the coming days.”

Upon hearing Chen Wen, everyone, including those at the main camp, looked up at the sky.

Aside from the faint light penetrating through the clouds, the entire sky was as dark as a moonless night.

”Damn it, so dark! I wondered why it felt early when I woke up just now.”

03’s fiery temper flared up, and he couldn’t help but curse.

glanced at 03 and spoke to Chen Wen, ”Alright, you stay safe too. We traveled yesterday using the ridge path. You can follow that path; it’s very safe.”

”Got it!”

Chen Wen replied and turned off the communication device.

But just as he was about to land, something moving atop the shelter caught Chen Wen’s attention.

A bird?

No, it’s an eagle!

Chen Wen immediately paused his dive, instead slowly landing at a distance from the camp.

The creature atop the camp, very much resembling an eagle, spread its wings threateningly at the sound.

But it didn’t notice at all that the bird-killer, the short-tailed cat, had stealthily crawled onto a tree near the camp, with its eyes fixed on this eagle.

Chen Wen didn’t intervene but rather observed the eagle.

Not only was it staring at him, but it was also interested in the backpack he left at the shelter entrance.

”What do you want? Move away! If you don’t, I’ll take action!”

Chen Wen waved his hand, driving away the eagle.

However, the eagle turned its head and, surprisingly, spoke to Chen Wen, ”Food! You have good stuff! Give it to me, and I’ll leave!”

A special animal?

Chen Wen froze, not expecting that he’d encounter a special animal right after entering Ailao Mountain.

The taming of special animals is different from regular taming; they don’t need to trigger survival mode to obtain traits.

Thus, Chen Wen immediately thought of taming this eagle.

Apart from obtaining traits, he also wanted to use this eagle to see if it could aid him in searching for Yan Bian and his team.

After all, eagles can fly, and having an additional eagle helps increase the chances of finding Yan Bian and his team.

Chen Wen immediately said, ”Alright, I can give you whatever food you want, but I need to get close to that thing to give it to you. Don’t be afraid; I’ll go over there and get it for you.”

”Don’t act rashly yet.”

Chen Wen reminded the short-tailed cat, which retracted its claws and crouched on the tree trunk, watching the mysterious newcomer warily.

Upon hearing Chen Wen, the eagle immediately backed off a bit, cautiously eyeing Chen Wen.

And Chen Wen slowly approached the eagle.
