Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 464: Chapter 13: Catching Up

The crested falcon-eagle has joined your team!

If this were some pet game, Chen Wen would definitely see this sentence now.

The addition of the crested falcon-eagle made Chen Wen very excited.

This guy can not only fly, has excellent vision, but also understands Chen Wen’s meaning.

As a pathfinding aerial scout, it could be said to be perfect!

Chen Wen told the crested falcon-eagle about the markers he discovered: ”Just keep an eye on the tree trunks, these parts of the trees. If there are arrow symbols carved with a knife here, it means the direction is correct.”

The crested falcon-eagle tilted its head and memorized all of Chen Wen’s words.

”Go on, you find the path ahead first, and Damo and I will follow soon.”

Chen Wen said.

The crested falcon-eagle immediately spread its wings and flew forward.

Following Chen Wen’s instructions, the crested falcon-eagle glided nimbly among the trees, ascending and exploring along the markers continuously.

Soon, it found a path more suitable for human passage.

When it returned, Chen Wen and the short-tailed cat were groping their way forward.

The crested falcon-eagle immediately emitted a short, whistle-like call, guiding Chen Wen and the short-tailed cat to continue advancing along the path it explored.

With the guidance of the crested falcon-eagle, the pace of Chen Wen and the short-tailed cat increased again.

Chen Wen even pushed his speed to the maximum, sprinting wildly on the slippery ground.

The distance between him and the team was shrinking rapidly before the naked eye.

Meanwhile, in the main camp, seeing the symbol representing Chen Wen rushing at breakneck speeds, the monitoring staff were a bit bewildered.

This speed...

It’s even faster than most adult men at full speed!

”How’s the situation? Is there anything unusual happening?”

Xu Yong saw the staff’s expression and walked over to ask.

Upon hearing, the staff deliberated over the words, then said: ”It’s somewhat unusual, you’d better have a look.”

What does ’somewhat unusual’ mean?

Xu Yong moved closer, planning to see what was going on.

When he saw the little green dot swiftly darting through the forest, Xu Yong hissed: ”Is the equipment malfunctioning?”

”Perfectly fine.”

The staff stated: ”This is Chen Wen darting through the jungle at a very high speed.”

”How fast?”

”About... the speed we use during physical tests to run a thousand meters.”

The staff added: ”And that’s the speed to hit an excellent score.”

Xu Yong gently rubbed his temples, the news was quite a shock to him.

He contacted Chen Wen: ”Team Two, Team Two, how are you doing now? Why are you moving so fast?”

Hearing the voice, Chen Wen immediately picked up the communication device and slowed down slightly.

”I’m doing great, in excellent condition. The speed is because I tamed a crested falcon-eagle this morning. It’s leading me, so my speed is so fast.”

”Huh?”

”What the hell?”

”What did you say?”

From the communication device came three consecutive questions.

Xu Yong had an utterly puzzled look on his face.

”The crested falcon-eagle was attracted by the honey rice dumpling I was carrying, and came to where I rested yesterday. I tried to feed it and ultimately succeeded in taming it.”

The communication line was silent for a while.

”Be careful, there’s no need to be so fast, stability first.”

Xu Yong finished and put down the communication device.

Front team AB also didn’t say much more, digesting Chen Wen’s news.

A tamed crested falcon-eagle?

Isn’t this equivalent to a biological version of a drone?

Drones are hugely helpful for search and rescue, even with the special magnetic fields of Ailao Mountain, the front team brought two drones for rescue purposes.

But their drones haven’t been used, and Chen Wen tamed a crested falcon-eagle.

And even used it to guide!

Absurd!

...

On Chen Wen’s end, under the guidance of the crested falcon-eagle, he safely crossed the landslide area from last night.

Looking at the devastated ground, concerns grew in Chen Wen’s heart.

Now he could only hope that Yan Bian and the others could find a relatively safe place to wait for rescue.

After crossing the final muddy road, Chen Wen saw very fresh human footprints.

The front team was not far ahead!

Chen Wen thought, speeding up to catch up.

About half an hour later, Chen Wen met up with the front team.

At this moment, Team AB had already gathered together.

Hearing the commotion from behind, everyone turned to look.

Then, a crested falcon-eagle flew out from the shadows within the jungle, landing on a nearby tree.

”What is that thing?”

was a bit surprised to see the crested falcon-eagle. ”An eagle? Or a hawk?”

”Crested falcon-eagle, Chen Wen’s beast tamer, he should be here.”

said, looking towards the woods where the crested falcon-eagle emerged from.

Beast tamer?

While the others were still puzzled, Chen Wen, carrying a short-tailed cat, quickly emerged from the woods.

The crested falcon-eagle saw Chen Wen and immediately made a short call, landing on Chen Wen’s shoulder.

”Made it!”

Chen Wen gasped for air, the long run was still somewhat tiring.

01, as the team leader, immediately approached: ”Very fast, come on, we are discussing what to do next.”

Hearing this, other members of the front team smiled.

Facing the formidable ability Chen Wen showed, this proud team leader formally accepted him.

Chen Wen understood the leader’s meaning too.

He smiled and nodded: ”It’s an honor!”

...

”Next, according to our original plan, still divide into two groups, military dog Black Tiger in front, we follow behind, searching for Yan Bian and their trail by looking for footprints and marks.”

01’s tone was a bit somber: ”But it rained nearly all night last night, now Black Tiger can’t smell Yan Bian and the others.”

Black Tiger’s trainer 09 nodded: ”Before, it could always smell because the scent of excretion kept emanating from Camp No. 1.”

Chen Wen looked at the short-tailed cat, asking with his eyes.

The short-tailed cat carefully sniffed the scent in the air, said: ”Can’t smell it now.”

”Seems a bit tough to track by scent.”

Chen Wen sighed: ”So, what are your thoughts?”

”Footprints and marks.”

said: ”Before we came, Mr. Xu told us that among the three local people accompanying Yan Bian, a friend of one mentioned that when their locals go deep into Ailao Mountain, to avoid getting lost, they would make marks using the bushes and branches along the way, and they told us what the marks look like.”

As he spoke, 06 immediately handed Chen Wen a broken bush branch.

Chen Wen examined it carefully.

This marking method was to use a dagger to cut the branch short and carve a symbol similar to the character ”大”.

Then in the direction they intended to go, carve out a sharp point to indicate direction.

”I got it, so do you need me to clear the road next?”

Chen Wen sensed 01’s meaning.

nodded solemnly, said: ”Our speed is too slow, your speed is faster, so I want you to try opening the way ahead, if it doesn’t work, we’ll discuss it again.”

”Furthermore, opening the way is very dangerous, if you...”

”Don’t worry, I’m not concerned about danger at all!”

Chen Wen said confidently.

Hearing Chen Wen’s words, 01 breathed a sigh of relief: ”That’s good, I want 05 and 09 along with Black Tiger to join you, what do you think?”

Chen Wen hesitated for a moment, ultimately choosing to refuse.

After all, although having more people means more support, in unrestricted conditions, he didn’t need any support.

On the contrary.

What he needed was breaking away from others to maximize his abilities.

Therefore, Chen Wen said: ”I’m used to acting alone, though I appreciate your concern, for now, I don’t need anyone to follow.”

Hearing this, 05, who just stood up planning to talk to Chen Wen, was stunned.

”Look at you being disdained!”

”Yes, indeed.”

”Doesn’t think much of you, huh.”

Everyone laughed.

Chen Wen quickly said: ”No no no, it doesn’t mean disdain, I’m just used to acting alone.”

Upon hearing, 05 waved his hand, indicating Chen Wen shouldn’t mind, he could understand.
