Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 490: Chapter 39: Capturing the Xie Family Father and Son

Holding the hunting knife in his hand, Chen Wen suddenly sprang into action.

His steps were extremely fast, his entire body almost leaving afterimages, making it difficult for the yellow-throated marten behind him to clearly see Chen Wen’s position.

The activation of speed-enhancing entries, like [Swift], pushed Chen Wen’s speed beyond human limits.

Moreover, he turned on the [Thermoregulation] state of high body temperature.

His physical fitness was greatly enhanced.

Now, Chen Wen, even in the natural world, could be a predator hunting with speed.

And what’s even more terrifying is that despite running so fast, Chen Wen made almost no footsteps.

The entry [Soundless], extracted from the Canadian lynx.

It could reduce the sound of Chen Wen’s running.

In just the blink of an eye, Chen Wen’s vision caught sight of the ambushing Xie Family father and son.

[Dynamic Vision] and [Extreme Vision], two vision-boosting entries, allowed Chen Wen to firmly lock onto the position of the Xie Family father and son.

As for Xavier and Liu Hong, Chen Wen temporarily couldn’t determine their exact location.

But through scent amplification entries, Chen Wen could roughly sense their general direction.

But that wasn’t important anymore.

As he reached a spot about fifty meters behind the Xie Family father and son.

Due to the fallen leaves and dead branches on the ground, he still exposed some sound of his footsteps.

The Xie Family father and son quickly noticed the footsteps, but it took them about three seconds to determine that the sound was coming from behind.

”What’s that noise?”

”Sounds like a small animal like a leopard cat, seems to be behind us.”

Xie Sheng listened to the noise and instinctively turned his head.

But at the moment he turned his head, Chen Wen accelerated again.

[Burst Start], a short-term explosive force for rapid movement, derived from the whip snake.

Chen Wen’s exposed calf instantly tightened, showing muscle lines reminiscent of Greek sculptures.

He slammed the ground with a powerful push and dashed out in a swoosh.

Xie Sheng’s mind went blank for a moment when he saw Chen Wen.

And as he met Chen Wen’s eyes, [Intimidation] activated.

Any intelligent human would feel fear in the face of [Intimidation].

The fierce look in Chen Wen’s eyes made Xie Sheng forget to breathe.

He opened his mouth, wanting to call for help, his legs pushing against the ground, trying to escape.

But his entire body seemed unresponsive, as if his organs no longer belonged to him.

Xie Sheng was stunned.

Why is there a person here?

And why does he run so fast?

Oh my god!

His gaze looks like it’s going to tear me apart.

Is he human or a ghost? Or a god?

This was as far as Xie Sheng’s consciousness went.

Because Chen Wen made his move!

For this old hunter, Chen Wen gave him the greatest respect—[Zero Frame Start].

This entry, which nearly knocked out the physically strong and young Zhang Hu with a punch during the island incident, was taking the stage again.

The prawn mantis shrimp’s punch shadow overlapped with Chen Wen’s fist shadow, striking hard on Xie Sheng’s face.

With a crack.

It broke.

Xie Sheng’s nasal bone fractured under the impact of the high-speed strike, and his head immediately suffered a concussion.

The protection mechanism was triggered, and Xie Sheng passed out promptly.

Like a baby’s sleep.

As for Chen Wen’s hand, apart from a slight pain, there was no feeling.

The [Hardness] of the African monkey orange greatly increased Chen Wen’s bone strength.

After knocking out Xie Sheng with a punch, Chen Wen looked at the nearby Xie Bing.

At this moment, Xie Bing just realized his father was knocked out by a human who suddenly appeared.

He looked at Chen Wen in shock, just in time to meet Chen Wen’s gaze.

[Intimidation]!

Chen Wen’s mouth curled slightly; this guy made things easier for me.

Under [Intimidation], forget about resisting, even calling for help was a luxury for Xie Bing.

He reached out his hand, lacking the boost of [Zero Frame Start].

This time Chen Wen’s fist was slower, lighter.

His fist struck hard on Xie Bing’s jaw, dislocating it with a snap.

Xie Bing yelped in pain.

Hitting people, I’m still inexperienced.

A thought flashed in Chen Wen’s mind, and his hands moved swiftly again.

With a thud, the next punch landed on the face.

Xie Bing immediately fell asleep.

The sleep of the young was even faster than baby-like sleep.

Since the first punch didn’t knock out Xie Bing, causing him to make a sound.

Chen Wen did not stay long.

He hoisted Xie Sheng, using him to shield his upper body.

Meanwhile, grabbing Xie Bing by the ankle to shield his lower body, then sprinted back the way he came.

This was to avoid getting shot by Xavier hiding in the dark, as Chen Wen still didn’t know his exact position.

...

Over on Xavier’s side, he was bewildered: ”What sound was that just now?”

Liu Hong said suspiciously: ”It seemed like a scream from the Xie kid, but it was just one scream. Did something happen?”

”Go take a look.”

Xavier instructed.

Liu Hong, hearing this, nervously grasped his weapon—a long spear—and slowly moved toward the ambush spot of the Xie Family father and son.

Covering a distance of more than fifty meters took Liu Hong over a minute.

When he cautiously arrived and saw the marks on the ground, Liu Hong was stunned.

”These marks... were they dragged away by something?”

Cold sweat instantly covered Liu Hong’s back.

Something that can drag away adult humans and disappear so quickly must be a bear!

A rather big bear at that!

Something’s gone wrong!

He dared not stay, as if the bear was still around, and immediately sprinted back to Xavier.

...

”Something... something’s wrong!”

Liu Hong panted, more exhausted from running this fifty meters than four hundred.

Hearing this, Xavier’s expression changed: ”What’s the situation?”

”It’s like this, I saw drag marks on the ground, Old Xie and Little Xie are missing!”

Both are missing?

Xavier pondered for a moment and asked, ”Do you know what might have done it?”

”It could be a big bear,” Liu Hong said confidently.

”No, it couldn’t have been a bear. If it were a bear, they wouldn’t have had no time to call for help.”

With more experience, Xavier rubbed his chin and said, ”I feel like it might have been other humans. Only humans know the weaknesses of humans, and only humans can make someone lose the ability to resist in such a short time!”

”You’re saying there are others here?”

Cold sweat broke out on Liu Hong in an instant.

In a place beyond the reach of law, humans can be more terrifying than animals!

Xavier immediately took out a pistol, released the safety, and held it tightly in his hand: ”I’m not sure if it’s humans, but the possibility is high, and regardless of their intentions, there’s no chance of reconciliation between us!”

”Take the knife, and we’ll slowly retreat to camp, using those we’ve captured as defense.”

Following Xavier’s orders, Liu Hong immediately took out a machete nearly half a meter long.

Despite the fear on their faces, the two braced against the fear and headed toward the camp.

Just as they planned to retreat, Chen Wen was tying up the Xie Family father and son nearby to a tree with vines.

Due to Chen Wen’s dragging, young Xie Bing could feel something now.

In a daze, he felt intense pain in his jaw and face.

”Awake?”

Chen Wen glanced at Xie Bing and tightened the rope binding him a little more.

Seeing Chen Wen, Xie Bing immediately begged for mercy.

But after a long moment of muffled pleas, he couldn’t utter any comprehensible words.

”Enough. Stay here quietly, and we’ll talk when I come back. I’ll go capture those two first, and you four will have plenty of time to chat.”

Speaking, Chen Wen casually picked a handful of non-toxic leaves nearby, crumpled them into a ball, and stuffed them into Xie Sheng’s mouth.

After checking the rope’s tightness and clearing the stones on the ground,

Chen Wen re-entered the jungle.
