Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 496: Chapter 45: Return

Chen Wen thought for a moment and said, ”Wild boars have just been removed from the ’protected’ list in Yun Province.”

Wild boars, huh.

Xu Yong laughed, ”What’s so difficult about that? I can just drive and take it away directly.”

Chen Wen coughed dryly, ”Ahem, there’s also the yellow-throated marten, classified as National Category II.”

”Hmm?”

Xu Yong was stunned for a moment.

National Category II...

”Crested honey buzzard, National Category II.”

Hiss!

Xu Yong scratched his head, realizing this was quite a tough situation.

Looks like I’ll need to ask the forestry department about it.

”That’s it, right?”

Xu Yong asked.

Chen Wen hesitated, ”There’s... more.”

”Clouded leopard.”

Clouded leopard?

Xu Yong scratched his head, not quite sure what that was, ”A leopard? If it’s a leopard, it shouldn’t be too hard.”

”Well, sort of.”

Chen Wen decided to tell Xu Yong the truth, ”Clouded leopards are very precious animals.”

Precious!

Xu Yong caught the key point, ”Wait a minute, isn’t that National Category I?”

”Hey, you guessed right!”

Chen Wen chuckled and didn’t continue.

The smile didn’t disappear; it just moved from Xu Yong’s face to Chen Wen’s face.

Finally, Xu Yong gritted his teeth, ”I’ll think of something for you!”

”Great, then I’ll leave it to you!”

Chen Wen quickly said, ”I’ll hang up now. I’ll head back right away; you get a team ready as soon as possible. While they’re on their way, I’ll take good care of the seven people at the camp.”

After saying that, Chen Wen quickly hung up the phone.

Xu Yong grasped the satellite phone and lit a cigarette in contemplation.

This kid can really get things done.

He ventured deep into the jungle alone for nearly a week and rescued everyone.

But he sure knows how to make trouble!

National Category I animals, tamed just like that.

Forget it, might as well go to the forestry department in person.

Xu Yong cast these issues aside.

He picked up his phone and reported the news he just received to his superiors.

At the same time, Xu Yong gathered his team overnight to relay the good news to them.

Upon hearing that Chen Wen successfully took down four poachers and rescued everyone,

everyone found it somewhat unbelievable at first.

”Are you sure it’s not something you dreamed up?”

An officer couldn’t help but ask.

Xu Yong’s expression darkened instantly, ”I’m not senile yet!”

The officer chuckled awkwardly and didn’t dare say more.

”This is absolutely true; I just talked to Chen Wen on the phone.”

Xu Yong stated unwaveringly, ”I’m calling you here now to discuss how we should publicize this.”

Liu Yu, who was listening on the sidelines, stayed silent, but he exchanged a look with the equally silent Lv Guocheng.

”I think it should definitely focus on Chen Wen,”

an officer said, ”This time, he entered the forbidden zone all alone and managed to bring everyone back. If he’s not the main hero, I don’t think anyone would agree.”

Xu Yong nodded in satisfaction, ”That’s exactly what I mean.”

Liu Yu and Lv Guocheng both sighed in relief upon hearing this.

The group began discussing how to publicize the event and the follow-up arrangements and handling.

...

Early the next morning.

After Chen Wen got up, he had everyone at the camp organize things and search for usable supplies.

Meanwhile, he returned to the cave and brought the Xie family father and son, and Liu Ting to the camp.

Seeing her friends safe and sound, Liu Ting couldn’t hold back her tears.

The two girls hugged and cried together.

Chen Wen then tied the Xie family father and son and Liu Hong to the same tree as Xavier.

At this moment, Xavier and Liu Hong were both pleading with Chen Wen, hoping he’d give them a break.

”Alright, save your breath, conserve your energy; in a while, a dozen special forces guys will come to take you out.”

Chen Wen placed some food beside the four of them, reminding himself to make sure they ate some every day.

They wouldn’t starve but should not be too energetic either.

”Spe... special forces?! We didn’t commit any major crimes, did we?”

Liu Hong, being quite knowledgeable, was instantly stunned.

Special forces!

Aren’t they usually deployed to deal with extremely dangerous terrorists?

How did poaching get us involved with special forces?

Chen Wen chuckled and said, ”You were out of luck. With those people missing, it became quite a big deal, and accidentally, you ran into the crossfire. You know what that’s called?”

”Those who commit too much injustice will eventually bring about their own downfall!”

Yan Bian chimed in from the side.

Liu Hong’s face immediately fell.

Chen Wen didn’t say much more to him.

After resting for a morning, Chen Wen had the animals roam in three groups nearby. If they encountered the first team, they’d bring them over.

Additionally, he organized Yan Bian and Liu Ting, along with a few of the strong guys, to go to the poachers’ storage cave and bring back some food supplies.

He used this time to keep the animals captured by the poachers near the camp.

These were all evidence.

Moreover, Chen Wen also made some simple modifications to the camp, setting up several large tents with waterproof fabric.

Ensuring everyone had a place to stay.

Thus, under Chen Wen’s arrangement, the poachers’ camp was transformed into a temporary survival camp.

Yan Bian, looking at the orderly camp, couldn’t help but recall the time on the island.

He said, ”Your survival skills are getting really solid. How long has it been? You’re way better than when we were on the island.”

Chen Wen laughed and said, ”The more you survive, the more skilled you become.”

”What’s your next plan for survival? I once heard Hua Yun’s brother mention that you seem to be participating in Alone in the Wild?”

Yan Bian asked.

Chen Wen nodded, ”Yeah, once I rescue you all, it’ll be mid-August. Alone in the Wild starts in the fall, so it’s time to prepare.”

Yan Bian, sitting beside Chen Wen, asked, ”I heard Hua Yun is doing acclimatization training over in Canada. Are you heading there too?”

”Definitely.”

Chen Wen nodded, recalling his itinerary, ”If all goes well, I’ll be over there by early September to meet with the show’s team, shoot some preliminary content, then find my spot for adaptive training, and then once the time comes, start filming directly.”

Yan Bian sighed, ”Is Canada dangerous?”

”If I said it weren’t dangerous, I’d be lying. But do you really think I’d get injured because of the danger?”

Chen Wen replied with a smile.

”I guess not.”

Yan Bian also laughed.

This good friend of his seemed to have maxed out his survival talent points.

No matter how terrifying the territory, it couldn’t quite challenge him.

”Alright, I’ll be cheering for you from home.”

...

The first team arrived on the third day of Chen Wen’s base camp stay.

The yellow-throated marten and the wild boar found them and led them to the camp.

The team leader was 01, who recovered quickly after pinpointing the cause of his fever.

Seeing Chen Wen, 01 opened his arms, ”Team Two, long time no see!”

”Long time no see!”

Chen Wen replied with a smile, exchanging a bear hug with 01.

The others—03, 04, 06, 08, 09—also hugged him, patting Chen Wen’s shoulder.

”Well done!”

”Brother, amazing!”

”Unbelievable, back then 01 never thought highly of you, but you proved yourself by rescuing everyone alone!”

The group chatted exuberantly.

Meanwhile, medic 08 began examining the four poachers.

”Hmm... Team Two, have you considered enlisting in the army?”

Looking at their fractures, 08 couldn’t help but glance at Chen Wen.

Chen Wen waved his hand, ”No, I’m too free-spirited.”

”Pity, if you enlisted, you’d fit right into our unit. If you had punched a bit harder, you could have crushed their skulls.”

said after checking Xie Sheng’s condition.

The group was taken aback.

A punch capable of crushing a skull—a truly terrifying power.

”Alright, after checking these four’s injuries, just take them away.”

waved his hand, saying no more.

Chen Wen then, along with 09, started documenting the captured animals before releasing them back into the wild.

Finally, under Chen Wen’s leadership,

the group dismantled the camp and erased all traces of human presence.

Before leaving, Chen Wen gathered all the animals he had tamed on this trip.

Except for the male Western Black-crowned Long-armed Ape, all the other animals chose to follow Chen Wen away.

Seeing the mighty animal army, everyone was thoroughly astonished.

Especially the two local guides, who looked at the clouded leopard as if in a dream.
