Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 452: Chapter 1: Yan Bian in Danger

After getting on the car heading to the nearest city.

Chen Wen looked at the news report, his face tense.

This time, Yan Bian’s situation could be completely described as a calamity from the skies.

The course of events was quite simple.

Since Ailao Mountain became explosively popular last year, the local cultural and tourism department noticed this immense fortune and contacted several leading tourism companies in Yun Province to develop a few travel routes around the periphery of the protected area.

As a guide capable of appearing on CCTV, Yan Bian’s tour company was naturally one of the local leaders.

However, his company’s scale was rather small, he managed to grab a small share of the opportunity.

Initially, development went smoothly, and the tour operators collaborated to research and develop five routes in total.

Incorporating hiking, adventure, mountaineering, camping, picnics, and more.

Yan Bian secured one of these routes.

The entire journey lasted eight days and nine nights, with a considerable price tag.

Yet people’s enthusiasm for these mysterious places remained high.

Once the route was launched, with Yan Bian’s prestigious reputation.

The number of travelers signing up was quite substantial.

Before this incident occurred, Yan Bian had already led three groups, and his tour company also had two other guides who each led a trip.

This route could be said to be quite safe and well established.

But it was precisely this fourth time that ended in an accident.

On the night they ventured to the deepest part of the route, two couples, totaling four travelers, left the group under the cover of night.

They went straight into the completely undeveloped depths of Ailao Mountain.

Courting disaster to the extreme.

Yan Bian discovered this anomaly during a night patrol.

Initially, he thought the couples had gone out for romantic encounters, so he didn’t respond promptly.

But as minutes and hours passed, Yan Bian sensed something was wrong.

Due to being in the deep mountains, the phone signal was poor.

Yan Bian could only report the situation to nearby scenic area staff, asking them to use a satellite phone to notify the scenic area and have them alert the authorities.

However, for some unknown reason, the scenic area didn’t report it in time.

As a result, by the next morning, Yan Bian had not seen the rescue team or received any response plan.

For the safety of the entire group, Yan Bian instructed his assistant to lead the tourists back the way they came and report directly to the police.

Meanwhile, he, along with three local guides, took a substantial amount of food and tools and ventured into Ailao Mountain for search and rescue.

But that endeavor led them to never return.

With the assistant’s report to the police, the authorities got involved, and only then did this situation become known externally.

As of now, a total of eight people have been missing for five days!

And where they went, whether they are still alive, there is no information!

The only information that can be known is that the local guides determined, based on established signs and trails, that the four who entered afterward, including Yan Bian, ventured into the deepest parts.

...

After reading what Lv Guocheng sent, the veins on Chen Wen’s forehead throbbed.

Five days!

This amount of time is already extremely dangerous!

In a place like Ailao Mountain, getting lost for a day can be deadly, let alone five days!

And still in undeveloped depths!

Sigh!

Chen Wen breathed deeply, considering whether he could be of help.

After carefully analyzing the situation over there, Chen Wen sighed.

Considering his current condition, entering Ailao Mountain should allow him to come back.

After all, he could fly and transform.

He could even tame animals in Ailao Mountain to assist in the rescue.

But by the time he got there and joined the rescue operation, it would probably be two to three days later.

Entering the depths of Ailao Mountain, it wouldn’t be possible without at least three to four days.

And this would make it nearly ten days since the disappearance of Yan Bian and the others.

Ten days!

As the vehicle jolted, Chen Wen leaned his head against the glass, eyes lowered.

Yan Bian, the benefactor who once looked after him, even helping him link up with Hua Yun.

Now...

Chen Wen, somewhat dazed, scrolled through his phone, checking the latest messages he had received.

Before long, Chen Wen’s hand suddenly paused.

He opened the message, and his expression stiffened.

Moments later, Chen Wen’s gaze became instantly resolute.

No way!

No matter what, I must go to the site and take a look!

Even in the worst-case scenario, we must bring Yan Bian back, not let him be left to the wilderness, devoured by black bears and leopards!

Go! I must go!

If I go, can animal friends help?

After contemplating the situation in Ailao Mountain, Chen Wen felt that Leopard the Second might be helpful.

But taking it there right now was not suitable.

As for the other animal friends, there’s no point mentioning Leopard the First and the Crested Hawk, since they can’t communicate.

Hippopotamus is out of the question, it’s too reliant on rivers, and not suitable for rescue missions.

Canada Lynx, Golden Eagle, and Snowy Owl are also not viable options.

Their fur is too thick.

It’s already August, the hottest time, and the zoo has been constantly cooling them down to ensure their comfort.

The only one left is the Short-tailed Cat.

But for search and rescue, can the Short-tailed Cat manage it?

Never mind, at this time, even if not, we have to try.

After all, the Short-tailed Cat’s sense of smell and tracking skills are much stronger than mine, having it around can at least be somewhat helpful.

With this in mind, Chen Wen no longer hesitated.

He directly called Lv Guocheng and informed him of his decision.

After arriving at the nearest city by car, Chen Wen immediately took the high-speed train to the zoo.

...

Arriving at the zoo, it was already midnight.

Seeing Chen Wen arrive suddenly, Mr. Li was quite aware that something was amiss.

He hurriedly opened the door, helping Chen Wen to wake Jiang Chang.

Chen Wen wasted no time, explaining the situation to Jiang Chang right away.

Hearing this, Jiang Chang was very shocked.

She knew about the disappearances in Ailao Mountain, but wasn’t aware of Yan Bian’s close relationship with Chen Wen.

”Ailao Mountain is dangerous!”

As Jiang Chang took the keys, she said, ”Are you sure you want to enter a completely undeveloped deep mountain? Especially given the current situation...”

Online, there’s already a bias about whether these eight people are still alive.

Most people, including some wilderness survival streamers and experts, believe it’s unlikely to endure this long.

Because according to the local weather, in the five days Yan Bian has been missing, Ailao Mountain has already had several rains.

Under such conditions, it’s hard to imagine those eight people lasting this long.

”I’m sure.”

Chen Wen’s voice was slightly hoarse, from rushing around.

He sighed and said, ”We can’t just let Yan Bian stay there forever, right?”

Jiang Chang was somewhat moved by Chen Wen’s words.

She opened the gate to the zoo and led Chen Wen to the small room where the Short-tailed Cat lived.

Upon opening the door, the Short-tailed Cat was already staring in their direction.

Seeing that it was Chen Wen, the Short-tailed Cat looked a bit delighted.

Chen Wen gently picked up the Short-tailed Cat, left the room, and said, ”I’ve booked a flight for tomorrow, no, it should be for noon today, so I won’t linger.”

”Hmm, stay safe.”

...

After leaving the zoo, Chen Wen hurried to the nearest airport to arrange pet transport for the Short-tailed Cat.

Fortunately, the zoo had all the necessary paperwork ready.

The transport process went smoothly.

In a secluded corner of the airport, Chen Wen instructed the Short-tailed Cat, ”This time it’s probably going to be similar to when you came here, taking a plane to an area with many forests, where it’s also quite humid. We’ll be apart for about a day, and then we can meet, don’t worry.”

Upon hearing this, the Short-tailed Cat indicated that Chen Wen didn’t need to worry about it at all.

”I already know we’ll be taking a flight later.”

The Short-tailed Cat said, ”Don’t worry.”

Chen Wen smiled at these words, without saying anything further.

He handed over the Short-tailed Cat to the personnel responsible for the transport, who were puzzled by the unusual-looking cat but didn’t question much.

After all, the variety and peculiarity of cat breeds these days are quite complex.

After signing the forms, the Short-tailed Cat would be shipped by air to Yun Province.

And by noon, Chen Wen successfully boarded his flight, heading to Yun Province.
