Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 498: Chapter 47: The Power Behind the Poachers

Award ceremony, venue packed with a thousand people.

Chen Wen sat upright, a row of dark cameras pointed directly at him, making him involuntarily tense.

Next to Chen Wen, Xu Yong sat on his right, while on his left was a man with the Yun Province license plate 00001.

Under a mountain of pressure!

Chen Wen would rather confront a rampaging African elephant than sit here.

As for the others on both sides, all had license plates with four zeros.

Among the audience below were industry representatives as well as advanced figures from Yun Province in recent years.

Such an occasion, Chen Wen has only ever seen on television, combining both his past and present lives.

”Don’t be nervous, just follow the speech script.”

Xu Yong’s voice was soft, but it came across clearly.

Chen Wen sneaked a glance at Xu Yong, only to find him expressionless, as if he had never spoken.

Looks like I’m still not suited for this kind of event...

Chen Wen sighed internally.

However, after the main leaders finished speaking, Chen Wen began reciting his speech.

Very smoothly.

After all, he possessed a memory far superior to ordinary people.

Once he finished reciting the speech content, it was time for the commendations.

handed a certificate representing Yun Province’s exemplar to Chen Wen, and Chen Wen spoke again, answering questions from reporters.

The questions weren’t tough, unexpectedly, the reporters did not make it difficult for Chen Wen.

After perfectly responding to the questions, accompanied by a round of applause, the award ceremony concluded successfully.

...

The award ceremony ended, but Chen Wen did not leave.

He still had to attend a banquet.

Eventually, after much hassle, Chen Wen exchanged personal contacts with 00001 and Xu Yong.

In a way, Chen Wen now had some backing.

These two bigwigs were optimistic about Chen Wen and very grateful for his help this time.

Furthermore, according to Xu Yong, Chen Wen was able to take the clouded leopard thanks to 00001’s assistance.

Ultimately, with Xu Yong’s deliberate maintenance.

This meal could truly be described as a delightful experience for both hosts and guests.

...

After the meal, Chen Wen went to Yan Bian’s house the next day.

This time it was a personal invitation from Yan Bian, and of course, the three tour guides.

This was a purely private invitation, attended only by the five of them.

Yan Bian naturally needs no introduction.

After returning this time, he already regarded Chen Wen as a close brother.

The other four tour guides expressed their gratitude, having prepared some items to thank Chen Wen.

But Chen Wen refused.

He wasn’t lacking in these things.

Thus, the tour guides could only promise that any future travel to Yun Province would be fully covered by them.

The following days were filled with various banquets and meeting various people.

Including the leader of the Ailao Mountain Scenic Area, who also scheduled a meeting with Chen Wen.

The leader wanted to invite Chen Wen to become the Ailao Mountain’s image ambassador, but Chen Wen declined the offer.

However, later on, the leader disclosed a piece of unexpected information to Chen Wen.

”These four poachers are not your ordinary poachers.”

The leader took a sip of tea and said, ”According to subsequent investigations by the police and the forestry department, among the four, the guy named Xavier belongs to a famous international poaching syndicate called Hunting Owl.”

”International poaching syndicate? The kind of large-scale cross-border poaching organization?”

Chen Wen paused for a moment, having always thought such things only existed in TV dramas.

”Yes, Hunting Owl is quite large, their reach almost extends across every continent.”

The leader said, looking towards the representative from the forestry department.

The other party looked earnestly at Chen Wen, saying, ”Mr. Chen has helped us wipe out the domestic Hunting Owl Organization. Xavier held a high position, and through strategic persuasion, decided to confess everything and helped us capture four poaching groups located in Kekexili and Qinling.”

So many?!

Chen Wen gasped, a bit unexpected.

The forestry representative continued, ”We’ve dealt a significant blow to Hunting Owl, though it might curb their arrogance, it could also make them hold grudges.”

”Have you noticed, that in reports regarding these poachers, we deliberately erased your presence to avoid implicating you?”

Chen Wen shook his head slightly.

This was the first time he’d heard of such a thing.

Recollecting the previous hot search, indeed there wasn’t any news about that group of poaching gangs.

Just as Chen Wen wanted to speak, the scenic area leader showed a guilty expression, ”However, we underestimated their intelligence capabilities and overlooked issues within the scenic area. After all, allowing these four to openly poach and sell rare animals, there must be someone here tacitly allowing this to happen.”

The leader handed a photo to Chen Wen, ”This is the former administrator from the scenic area’s logistics management department, surnamed Liu. He’s Liu Hong’s cousin, and Liu Hong’s poaching activities were conducted under his tacit permission and cover, about two days ago, Liu Hong exposed him.”

The police representative said from the side, ”This person was deeply hidden, only Liu Hong knew, therefore, when we went to capture him, it was too late.”

The leader sighed, ”He barely counts as high-level, so he knew everything that went on.”

The police representative followed up, ”According to our investigation, this man’s wife died early, leaving him without children. Hence, after the incident, he quickly sold off domestic assets and fled abroad. Currently, it seems he has contacted Hunting Owl’s people.”

Chen Wen’s expression sank, the situation seemed a bit unpromising.

The forestry representative then said, ”Today I’m here to remind Mr. Chen that within the country, your safety is guaranteed, but your work’s unique nature requires frequent trips abroad to wilderness areas, which coincidentally overlap with Hunting Owl’s activity zones.”

”So if you continue to travel abroad in the future, you must be exceptionally careful!”

Chen Wen nodded.

Such a massive poaching organization surely has blood on its hands.

An animal’s, and perhaps humans as well.

Looks like survival abroad will demand greater caution from now on.

However, Chen Wen wasn’t too worried.

As long as he doesn’t livestream, meeting face to face in the wilderness, it’s hard to say who’s afraid of whom.

”As long as they don’t hire hitmen to come trouble me in the city, I’m not worried.”

Chen Wen’s tone was rather relaxed.

The forestry representative nodded, ”Rest assured, based on our understanding of the organization, they typically don’t act within cities.”

”Like over in Africa, conservation staff dying at their hands were all shot in the wilderness. Their retribution against those who hinder their poaching efforts is to hunt them in the wild, it’s become their rule, known as ’Honorable Duel’.”

Hearing this, Chen Wen was thoroughly unconcerned.

Great, this rule is great!

If they truly come into the wild, facing my fully loaded stats, it should be them who’s running!

In the end, Chen Wen thanked everyone; their timely information was indeed crucial.

It allowed Chen Wen to be prepared for any oddities during his future survival trips abroad.
