Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 473: Chapter 22: Good Omen

Chen Wen’s side.

Led by two animals, he climbed the mountain again, following the traces left by Yan Bian and his group.

This mountain is located deep in the Ailao Mountain range, already its heartland.

The terrain is still the familiar mountain rainforest.

Progress was fairly smooth.

In this terrain, you must make good use of both hands.

Chen Wen held a wooden stick in his left hand, constantly tapping the grass ahead.

This was to scare away snakes.

In such mountainous rainforest, the most lethal things are not large animals, but the various bizarre poisonous insects and snakes.

With a tap by Chen Wen.

He keenly noticed a small creature with a jade-green body slowly raising its head on a tree beside him.

An aura of dominance naturally emerged!

Bamboo Pit Viper!

A highly venomous viper!

However, its venom can be neutralized by cutting a cross on the wound and using cupping or suction.

Moreover, the venom is not very potent.

It’s a type of venomous snake that can be managed.

Chen Wen decisively released [Intimidation], and the Bamboo Pit Viper fled without looking back.

The aura of dominance dissipated.

For Chen Wen, the Bamboo Pit Viper is relatively easy to handle.

Holding a hunting knife in his right hand, he chopped off the branches blocking the way.

After walking for about an hour or so.

Feeling a bit tired, Chen Wen found a flat area, tapped it, and sat down to rest.

He took out a flask and drank a couple of gulps of spring water.

[Enhanced digestive system] meant he didn’t have to worry about gastrointestinal damage.

After drinking, Chen Wen ate something and fed the animals.

Even though they all have hunting abilities, they were still fond of human food.

Especially the Crested Serpent Eagle.

It was practically honey-crazed.

Having eaten, Chen Wen adjusted the equipment according to 01’s instructions.

But the equipment still wasn’t responding.

This geomagnetic anomaly area is vast, and even up the mountain, it’s not working.

Chen Wen thought, feeling frustrated.

The downside of not being able to communicate or connect.

Keep going up the mountain!

...

Team One’s camp.

After reporting the situation, everyone waited for Chen Wen’s update.

But the wait stretched into the evening.

distributed food to everyone, saying, ”The next supply run has been prepared and should arrive overnight. Do you have any urgent needs? I’ll inform them later.”

Upon hearing this, everyone began stating what they needed.

Just then, 04, who appeared unwell all afternoon, said, ”Bring some laxatives.”

Laxatives?

Everyone turned to 04, puzzled.

nodded with difficulty, explaining, ”I drank spring water...”

Upon hearing this, 01’s face fell slightly: ”Didn’t Team Two advise against drinking spring water?”

replied helplessly, ”I have a unique constitution, with a fast metabolism. I need to drink a lot of water daily. The rainwater collected last night was little, and I noticed you all didn’t have much either, so I thought I could rely on spring water. Who knew it would turn out like this.”

”Previously, during field training in the army, I drank raw water, but it was never serious. This time it is...”

While speaking, 04’s stomach rumbled again, his face a picture of embarrassment.

”Alright, I’ll have the camp fly in some anti-diarrhea medicine...”

wanted to laugh but held back.

Just then, the previously silent communication equipment suddenly emitted a sound.

”Hello, hello? Can you hear me?”

It was Chen Wen!

As soon as he heard the voice, 01 immediately replied, ”Yes! Has communication been restored?”

Accompanied by a static noise.

Chen Wen’s voice came through relatively clearly: ”More or less. I’m near the mountain top now, where the signal is better. I’m giving you a heads up; you should head straight up following the tracks you found earlier.”

”I’ve cleared a path for you, so follow the marks I left and you should be fine.”

glanced at his team members and said, ”Okay, we’ll set off tomorrow morning!”

Chen Wen responded with a grunt, indicating his acknowledgment.

Then he said, ”By the way, I heard you mention something about anti-diarrhea medicine?”

”Yes, 04 has diarrhea from drinking raw water.”

Chen Wen paused and then said, ”If it’s just diarrhea from drinking raw water, try letting him drink some lightly salted water. It will replenish electrolytes and fluids to prevent dehydration and reduce discomfort.”

Lightly salted water is easy to come by.

handed his flask to 04, letting him take small sips.

After drinking half the flask, 04’s face looked slightly better.

”Feeling a bit better, thanks.”

”You’re welcome.”

During their exchange, over at the camp, Xu Yong also asked Chen Wen some questions.

Mainly about the traces they had discovered.

After a brief communication, Chen Wen went offline to rest.

...

A night passed.

In the morning, when Chen Wen woke up, the sky seemed to have a clearing feel to it.

The previously seen black clouds had also dissipated significantly.

Chen Wen felt this was a good omen.

He contacted Team One, telling them this good news.

Everyone in Team One felt considerably more relaxed.

Chen Wen ate something simple and continued onward.

Before sleeping last night, he calculated that if Yan Bian’s group slows down, they should catch up today.

The possibility is high!

Without much delay, Chen Wen signaled the two animals to start searching and moving forward.

Over at Team One.

After getting up, everyone changed into windproof mosquito-repellent clothing and entered the geomagnetic anomaly area.

...

Deep in the forest.

Yan Bian was waking up around this time.

However, unlike Chen Wen’s hopeful group, he felt a bit of despair.

”Liu, Li, how are you guys holding up?”

Yan Bian licked his chapped lips, asking the two guides who entered with him.

Mr. Liu sighed softly, ”Too hungry, no strength left in me.”

Mr. Li’s voice was also weak: ”Those people took all our food and kept us doing labor to make sure we have no chance of escaping.”

Hearing this, Yan Bian nodded slightly.

”Just try to cooperate with them. They came to the mountains for profit, not to kill. Many people know we entered the mountains, and if they contact the outside, they will definitely know our identity.”

While speaking, Yan Bian noticed shadows moving outside the cave.

He quickly spoke in the local dialect: ”They’re coming. Remember my words: cooperate with them to stay alive.”

Liu and Li nodded, their eyes showing flashes of caution.

Accompanied by the sound of footsteps, a tall and burly foreigner entered.

Speaking in somewhat clumsy Chinese, he said, ”Your food. Listen to me and there will be more at noon!”

Saying this, the foreigner distributed the roasted meat he held to the three, adding, ”Today, you will move with us. You two carry the cage, and you carry the supplies, understand?”

The three nodded quickly.

”Good. As long as you cooperate with us, once we capture our target, I will let you go back.”

As the foreigner spoke, a hint of malice flashed in his eyes.

He hid it well, and none of the three noticed.

At this moment, Yan Bian lightly kicked Mr. Li’s foot.

Mr. Li immediately responded, ”Brother, I want to ask, what exactly is your target?”

Upon hearing this, the foreigner’s eyes flickered with caution.

But before he could say anything, Mr. Li immediately put on a fawning expression and said, ”It’s like this, I come from a hunter background. I often come to the forests to hunt rabbits, and I’m good at tracking prey. If you need, I’m willing to help.”

The foreigner thought for a moment and said, ”We don’t need your help. My men are the strongest hunters!”

Though he didn’t agree to Mr. Li’s request, the foreigner seemed to have some friendliness towards the hunter profession.

He said, ”But it doesn’t matter if you know our target. Our target is the Hua Country’s unique, first-class protected species, the Western Black-crowned Long-armed Ape!”
