Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 486: Chapter 35: Some News

Liu Ting’s involvement brought Chen Wen some useful information.

But she didn’t know much either.

She only knew that her father, Liu Hong, walked the path of poaching, likely because of gambling.

As for when it started, she was unclear.

Although she knew her father’s accomplices, she didn’t know they were poachers.

”Xie Sheng is the village hunter, skilled in hunting when he was young. Xie Bing is his son, a good-for-nothing who dropped out after middle school. As for that foreigner, he came to the town about five years ago, collecting mountain goods.”

Five years.

Not a short time.

At the same time, although Xie Sheng appeared old, he should be someone who can use a gun.

According to Liu Ting, most of the local elders have handmade guns.

It was after the new millennium that the police carried out several gun collection campaigns and confiscated them.

However, Xie Sheng is still poaching, so there’s a good chance he has a handmade gun.

This must be handled carefully.

After discussing with Liu Ting.

Liu Ting looked at Chen Wen, ”What do you plan to do now?”

”Wait for a moment.”

Chen Wen said, ”I’ll act when they start catching the long-armed apes, by the way, why do they want to catch them? Are they valuable?”

Upon hearing Chen Wen’s words, Liu Ting couldn’t help but say, ”It’s not about whether they’re valuable! The apes they aim to catch are called Western Black-crowned Long-armed Apes, a first-class protected animal in our country!”

”They are extremely precious! Every poached Western Black-crowned Long-armed Ape is a loss to the nation’s ecology and biodiversity!”

Chen Wen, surprised, said, ”You have quite a high level of awareness, how come your father...”

No, that wasn’t the right way to say it.

As soon as he spoke, Chen Wen regretted it.

Perhaps he was accustomed to speaking straightforwardly after spending so much time with animals.

However, Liu Ting wasn’t annoyed. She simply looked at the clouded leopard circling around her and said, ”Since childhood, I was educated by the forestry bureau and schools about these rare animals, knowing they’re also part of the world. My studied field is related to animals, so naturally, I have a bias toward them and understand them better.”

”But my father is different, he hardly knew how to read, expecting him to learn to protect animals is impossible, especially since poaching brings a significant amount of money.”

Liu Ting sighed, recalling her father’s unusual behavior over the years.

She was regretting not having realized earlier.

Seeing Liu Ting’s expression, Chen Wen trusted her much more.

This girl indeed seemed much better than her father.

”However, if you really want to rescue those people, your father... might end up in jail, and it won’t be for a short time.”

Chen Wen seemed to mention casually, but his eyes stayed fixed on Liu Ting.

Observing her every move.

A flicker of sorrow flashed across Liu Ting’s face, ”He brought this on himself. Even without this time, he would have been discovered eventually.”

”Better to let him correct his ways now, while the case value isn’t too high. If I had realized earlier, I surely would have persuaded him with my mother or even sought help from the forestry bureau.”

Her heartbeat was normal, her gaze unwavering, her voice steady.

It didn’t seem like she was acting.

Chen Wen hesitated for a moment, deciding to reveal some of his cards.

He said, ”Alright, I’ll trust you then, but from now on, we need to act together. There are some things you need to know.”

Liu Ting looked at Chen Wen blankly.

What things?

Chen Wen clapped his hands, and the animals hiding nearby all came out at once.

Seeing the massively built wild boar, Liu Ting was dumbfounded, her mind buzzing.

What is this?

The wild boar walked over leisurely, glanced at Liu Ting.

”Arms and legs this thin, wouldn’t even be enough for me to practice on. Human, is she our new teammate?”

The bobcat knew that Chen Wen couldn’t speak in front of others, so it spoke on his behalf, ”Yes, however, in front of fellow humans, Chen Wen can’t talk to us, so I’ll be the one communicating with you on his behalf.”

No wonder it’s the bobcat!

Chen Wen looked at it approvingly, praising it in his heart.

Upon hearing this, the yellow-throated marten leapt to the ground and circled around Liu Ting a few times.

Then said to the wild boar, ”She wouldn’t even make a snack for you, even I could take her down!”

Just bragging!

Several animals silently complained in their hearts.

The biggest flaw of the yellow-throated marten was this, it loved to boast.

But now they were family, so they didn’t intend to expose it.

The clouded leopard said, ”She’s been good to me, I feel she’s a good person.”

The honey buzzard, which had a full meal outside, commented, ”Whether she’s good or not depends on if she feeds us.”

Several animals agreed with this statement.

Looking at the various animals, Liu Ting said blankly, ”This... they... you... am I dreaming?”

”No, this is the real world. If you don’t believe it, pinch yourself.”

At this moment, Liu Ting looked at Chen Wen again, finally realizing the familiarity of his face.

”Aren’t you the one surviving in the Sonora Desert? I’ve seen your documentary! What’s your name again? And this cat, seems like it was tamed back then too!”

Disjointed memories flashed through Liu Ting’s mind.

It was from when she was out with her boyfriend, occasionally watching documentaries with him.

The protagonist happened to be the person in front of her.

And he really was good at taming animals!

Am I this famous?

Chen Wen thought for a moment, then said, ”Yes, it’s me, just call me Chen Wen.”

”Let me tell you first, these animals are quite unusual, they’re very perceptive, and you can use simple gestures to direct them.”

”They’re also very friendly and won’t proactively attack you. Hmm, that one is essentially friendly, though it doesn’t seem so.”

As Chen Wen spoke, he pulled down the yellow-throated marten that wanted to jump onto Liu Ting.

Seeing the yellow-throated marten’s antics, Liu Ting couldn’t help but laugh.

She felt around in her pockets and took out a sausage, ”I recognize this animal, it’s a yellow-throated marten, right? They’re quite fierce. A cat I had before was killed by one.”

Seeing the sausage, the yellow-throated marten immediately gave up provoking Chen Wen.

Instead, it eagerly approached Liu Ting, waiting to be fed.

Such a lack of self-respect!

Chen Wen shook his head helplessly, finding the yellow-throated marten the most problematic creature he encountered.

”But these little guys seem quite adorable, I actually don’t dislike them.”

Liu Ting fed the yellow-throated marten, then turned to Chen Wen, ”You’re amazing, being able to tame so many animals and even have them coexist peacefully.”

”Ha, let’s not talk about this for now.”

Chen Wen awkwardly laughed and said, ”Just try to stay close to them, I’ll clear the path ahead, let’s get close to their location first.”

Ah, changing the topic.

Liu Ting chuckled, not saying much more, and simply followed beside the wild boar.

She even reached out and touched its rough, thick skin.
