Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 476: Chapter 25: The Experience of the Tree-Climbing Cat

Chen Wen had his own ideas on how to treat the injured animal.

He poured the light saline solution from his canteen and washed the animal’s wound.

The sting from the washing made the animal’s muscles twitch involuntarily.

Seeing this, Chen Wen cautiously tied up the animal with a rope.

Then he took out the Yunnan Baiyao hemostatic agent given to him by 08 and aimed it at the wound.

With a hiss.

Compressed air carried the medicine from the spray can, precisely covering the animal’s wound.

The medication was even more stimulating, and a sharp meow burst from the animal’s throat.

The animal regained consciousness.

It struggled violently, trying to break free from the rope, and opened its mouth to reveal long fangs intending to bite Chen Wen.

”This cat’s fangs are really long!”

Seeing the animal’s fangs, Chen Wen couldn’t help but say.

By ratio, its fangs were even longer than those of the big orange Northeast Tiger Chen Wen had seen.

After applying medicine, Chen Wen decisively began communicating.

He asked the injured animal, ”How did you get injured?”

The animal paused for a moment, looking incredulously at Chen Wen.

It was silent for a long time before it understood the current situation.

The human in front of it seemed different from the ones it had seen before.

In a rather calm young male voice, it said, ”I was injured by your kind.”

So it was another human!

Chen Wen’s eyes narrowed, fully confirming a group of ill-intentioned individuals were in this forest.

And they weren’t too far away!

”I was just treating you, now don’t resist, I will treat you again.”

Chen Wen said as he slowly extended his right hand.

The animal didn’t resist, allowing Chen Wen to place his hand against the side of its head.

A moment later, the Animal Doctor’s blessing was over.

Chen Wen withdrew his hand and untied the rope.

He explained, ”This was for protection, as applying medicine can be very painful; I was worried you would struggle violently, ultimately injuring yourself and us.”

The animal did not respond to Chen Wen and quickly moved to a spot far from him after being freed.

It seems that animals harmed by humans find it hard to trust them again.

Chen Wen thought, without seizing the chance to get closer.

Instead, he took out some sausages from his backpack, dividing them into three parts.

Two parts were fed to the yellow-throated marten and the bobcat, and the remaining part he held in his hand.

As the aroma of the sausage slowly spread.

The injured animal became restless.

Since it got injured, it had been on the run, with no chance to hunt, and its stored energy was depleting.

It was already at its last gasp.

Smelling the sausage, its attraction was even greater than honey to a crested honey guard.

”Would you like to eat, too?”

Seeing the timing was right, Chen Wen amicably raised the sausage.

The animal, feeling the relief of its physical condition, did trust Chen Wen somewhat.

So, it nodded slowly.

Chen Wen asked, ”Should I come over, or will you?”

The animal didn’t hesitate, stood up, and limped towards Chen Wen.

When the animal reached him, Chen Wen gently placed the sausage in front of it.

It immediately opened its mouth and locked the sausage with its elongated fangs.

Then, raising its head, it held the sausage in its mouth.

”Eat here, they won’t harm you.”

Hearing Chen Wen’s words, the animal looked warily at the yellow-throated marten.

Obviously, this fierce little creature brought it great psychological pressure.

However, at this moment, the marten had no desire to provoke the injured animal.

Its attention was completely absorbed by the sausage in front of it, eating voraciously like a starving ghost.

After observing the marten, the animal looked towards the similar bobcat.

Seeing the bobcat had no intention to attack.

It began eating slowly.

While it ate, Chen Wen asked the animal about the humans who harmed it.

Mentioning these memories, visible fear flashed across its face, and its body trembled slightly.

Evidently, those humans had inflicted significant damage on it.

Chen Wen quickly consoled it softly, helping the animal calm down slowly.

Settling its emotions, the animal then said, ”That day, I was normally patrolling my territory in the trees, planning to hunt, but I smelled a very peculiar scent.”

”The scent was like meat, but much more fragrant, and I couldn’t resist searching for its source.”

Saying this, the animal seemed to remember something.

It gestured for Chen Wen to look at the sausage in its mouth, ”Soon, I found the scent’s source; it looked just like this thing you gave me, but much more fragrant.”

”I couldn’t resist going in front of it; it was so quiet around, and I was about to taste it, but as I bit down, something tooth-like suddenly appeared around it and fiercely bit me; that’s when I got injured.”

Sure enough, a poacher’s trap!

Chen Wen took a breath and asked, ”How did you escape then? It’s not easy to break free from that.”

By this time, the bobcat and marten had finished their food and were looking over.

Seeing this, Chen Wen simply granted the animal communication ability.

The injured animal continued, ”When I got caught, I kept begging and crying out; soon, a person similar to you came over, but he was stronger and larger.”

Hearing this, Chen Wen immediately recalled Yan Bian and the others’ profiles.

The height of those guides wasn’t very tall, ranging between 170-180 cm.

Chen Wen was a bit taller than them.

And stronger than those guides as well.

”That human seemed very happy seeing me; he tied me up with a rope and put me into a metal cage.”

”He took me to a cave, locked me there where many other humans were too.”

”Then, probably around late last night, a human with very long hair came to me, opened the cage, and let me escape from inside.”

”I’ve been running since then, exhausted, planning to rest in the tree when you arrived.”

After hearing the animal’s story, Chen Wen had some thoughts in his mind.

He asked again, ”Do you remember which direction you escaped from?”

The animal lifted its head and pointed toward the direction of Yan Bian’s footprints.

Chen Wen’s heart sank.

If that group was still in the cave last night, Yan Bian might have encountered the poachers.

This is tricky!

Chen Wen reassured the injured animal to rest.

And he picked up his communication equipment, intending to report to the camp.

But when he took out the communication device, the flashing red light left him baffled.

What’s going on?

Is this area magnetically anomalous too?

Helplessly, he switched to the satellite phone.

This time the satellite phone worked, and Chen Wen contacted the camp, privately informing them of what he encountered.

”So, you found an animal just caught by a poacher’s trap, suspecting poachers in the woods?”

”Yes, and based on my speculation, the poachers’ tracks somewhat overlap with Yan Bian’s.”

After careful consideration, Chen Wen said, ”The animal I found escaped from the direction where Yan Bian disappeared.”

”I understand.”

Xu Yong hung up the phone, feeling quite troubled.

A simple search and rescue, why did it suddenly become so complicated?
