[Your friend—Yellow-throated Marten, has prepared a gift for you.]

[Extracting... Extraction complete!]

[Please choose one of the following three entries.]

[Small Bets, Big Rewards (Gold): You are more adept at dealing with large animals. When facing them, you can allocate your stamina wisely, excel at finding weak spots, and your attacks become faster and more damaging when targeting them.]

[Note: Don’t be fooled by how much heavier that guy next to you is; if it really comes down to a fight, I’m the one who’ll be laughing last! —Yellow-throated Marten]

[Forest Ambush (Gold): While wandering in the woods, you are less likely to be detected. Your perception ability is enhanced in all aspects, and when launching an ambush, you induce panic in the target.]

[Note: Had you not arrived quickly, the guy next to you would have already been killed by me! —Yellow-throated Marten]

[Ferocious (Gold): Your character is more cruel and vicious, so other animals instinctively develop a sense of fear when facing you, causing them to avoid or ignore you.]

[Note: I am the king of the jungle! —Yellow-throated Marten]

A Northeast Tiger would be tamed easily.

Looking at the entry [Ferocious], Chen Wen couldn’t help but think.

Yet he said nothing more, as the Yellow-throated Marten’s entry was of high quality.

[Forest Ambush] might have some conflict with the earlier [Tree Ambush], but it enhances perception ability, which is quite nice.

However, Chen Wen ultimately chose [Small Bets, Big Rewards].

After all, this entry looks like a game-changer, and would be very useful against large animals.

After choosing the entry, the Yellow-throated Marten truly became one of his own.

So Chen Wen simply activated its communication ability, but before letting it officially contact the Bobcat.

Chen Wen still set some rules for the Yellow-throated Marten.

Essentially, it shouldn’t provoke or harm friends who can communicate.

”Alright then, hey, you there, how did it feel just now?”

The Yellow-throated Marten didn’t disappoint Chen Wen and began provoking right away.

The Bobcat was a bit annoyed: ”I wanted to ask how you felt! If you hadn’t run so fast, my claws would have torn your throat apart!”

”Stop!”

Chen Wen immediately called a halt to the two animals.

He grabbed each animal with one hand, taking them to the campsite he just set up, allowing them to calm down.

On the way, the Yellow-throated Marten struggled constantly, finding being carried this way very uncomfortable.

Though after struggling, it was shocked to find out that it couldn’t do anything against Chen Wen.

It felt somewhat panicked.

Could this big guy, who doesn’t seem to have much combat capability, actually be really strong?

Placing the two animals on either side of the campsite, Chen Wen said sternly: ”Once you learn to talk properly, you’ll get sausages to eat, understand?”

The Yellow-throated Marten immediately became compliant upon hearing its beloved snacks would be withheld.

It began trying to communicate well with the Bobcat.

And after the initial displeasure, the Bobcat chose to accept the rather fierce little fellow.

After all, in the Bobcat’s understanding, those who can speak are family.

Just like the Canadian Lynx, despite originally confronting each other, they became intimate friends in just one night.

Feeling the Bobcat’s goodwill, the Yellow-throated Marten experienced a new sensation.

Though it also had a group, those Yellow-throated Martens couldn’t communicate.

They only cooperated in hunting when food was scarce or prey was challenging to catch.

The Bobcat could be considered its first friend.

By the time Chen Wen had built a shelter for rest, the relationship between the Bobcat and the Yellow-throated Marten had already improved.

The Bobcat truly lived up to being Chen Wen’s first animal friend to communicate with him, like a warm little cotton jacket!

Chen Wen thought, as he began to contact the team behind him.

...

”Sausages? With pure meat?”

held the communication device a bit puzzled.

What kind of whimsical idea is this again?

He remembered that Chen Wen didn’t particularly like pure meat sausages.

When asked to bring pure meat sausages previously, Chen Wen said sausages without starch were like dumplings without filling, or fried rice without eggs.

Hard to accept.

But ultimately, a piece was brought for Chen Wen’s Bobcat.

Why request more now?

Feeling the confusion from the other side, Chen Wen explained: ”It’s like this, my Bobcat was attacked by a Yellow-throated Marten, but through my efforts, the Yellow-throated Marten that attacked me is now tamed. This is for it.”

Yellow-throated Marten?

was even more confused, what kind of creature is that?

Although he had met Zhou Zhijian, he didn’t know about the Yellow-throated Marten.

Chen Wen recounted the encounter with the Yellow-throated Marten from start to finish to 01, though he kept some things about the Yellow-throated Marten concealed.

During the communication with the Yellow-throated Marten, Chen Wen learned of its past.

This Yellow-throated Marten had some fate with humans, although it was a negative one before meeting Chen Wen.

Its old home—a burrow—was trampled by Zhou Zhijian, who was eager to rescue someone.

When the Yellow-throated Marten returned after a day’s hunt for food, its world had collapsed.

As the overlord of this forest, how could it tolerate such grievances?

Relying on its excellent sense of smell, it successfully found Zhou Zhijian, who crushed its home, and attacked him.

Speaking of which, do all Mustelidae have such bravery?

Chen Wen couldn’t help but wonder.

Speaking of the Wolf Mink, it’s a medium-sized Mustelidae, and its bravery to attack humans can be understood.

But for the Yellow-throated Marten, weighing only three to four kilograms, daring to attack humans, Chen Wen found it hard to understand.

However, according to the Yellow-throated Marten, it was only because it noticed Zhou Zhijian’s vulnerability and injuries that it dared to act.

Perhaps a reflection of [Small Bets, Big Rewards]?

After attacking Zhou Zhijian, the Yellow-throated Marten felt avenged and planned to look nearby for a new home.

Before the new home was done, Chen Wen arrived.

After Chen Wen had explained the process of taming the Yellow-throated Marten, 01 was speechless: ”I’ll have a drone send some over, make sure you get them.”

”Alright.”

Chen Wen said: ”Are you planning to continue on tonight? It seems like the rain has stopped.”

”No, with you paving the way ahead, the pace will be set by you. We’re now planning to establish receiving points along the way and store some food.”

now adopted a cautious rescue strategy: ”According to the rescued Zhou Zhijian, Yan Bian and his group still have survival skills, and plenty of supplies, so it’s better to be stable and steady with the rescue.”

This was exactly what Chen Wen had in mind.

Chen Wen immediately agreed to the plan.

Ending the communication, Chen Wen waited for the drone to deliver food.

However, the Crested Honey Buzzard, out for food, returned first.

It glided all the way, issuing crisp calls.

But just as it intended to land on Chen Wen, the Yellow-throated Marten in the distance turned those calls into cries of fear.

It frantically flapped its wings, flying into the sky.

Chen Wen hurriedly called out to the Crested Honey Buzzard, telling it to return: ”Relax, this is our new teammate, and like you, it has just joined.”

Upon hearing this, the eyes of the Crested Honey Buzzard shimmered with fear: ”It... it won’t eat me, will it?”

Apparently, the Crested Honey Buzzard had some unpleasant memories with the Yellow-throated Marten.

Chen Wen thought for a moment, then lightly tapped the Yellow-throated Marten: ”You’re being asked.”

The Yellow-throated Marten, thinking about sausages, looked displeased at the Crested Honey Buzzard: ”I wouldn’t want to eat it, it’s too skinny and small, hardly any meat, and hard to catch.”

”That’s how it is with all flying creatures!”

The Bobcat couldn’t help but add: ”The main issue is they have very little meat!”

Hearing this, the Yellow-throated Marten seemed to find a kindred spirit: ”Right, right!”

Conversations about catching flying animals brewed interest between the Yellow-throated Marten and the Bobcat.

But this topic made the Crested Honey Buzzard tremble a lot.
