Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 475: Chapter 24: The Cat Hanging Upside Down in the Tree

After a day of searching, Chen Wen was here.

He went down to the rainforest area again.

Now he had one more reason to find Yan Bian.

Chen Wen really wanted to ask Yan Bian face to face, running up and down, aren’t you tired?

But Yan Bian also had something to say.

I can’t help it!

”I estimate Team One can make it to the mountain by noon today, then we can get in touch. Not much has changed at the camp, the weather has slightly improved, but it seems there’s a heavy rain tonight, so we need to inform Team One to be extra vigilant.”

Thinking about today’s plan, Chen Wen casually chopped off the branches blocking his way with a machete.

At that moment, the yellow-throated marten quickly climbed up to the top of Chen Wen’s head.

Chen Wen was taken aback but sensed the yellow-throated marten breathing rapidly.

Did it smell something?

Just as Chen Wen was about to ask, he heard the yellow-throated marten say, ”I smell food!”

Food?

The bobcat became interested.

Traversing and hunting in the rainforest and mountains recently gave it a sense of being back in the Sonora Desert.

Occasionally hunting felt like humans going on a rare picnic.

Making the bobcat very comfortable.

But Chen Wen was somewhat helpless, as the two animals never let him interfere in hunting.

And he wouldn’t eat the prey, it’s all raw meat, impossible to cook.

After identifying the source of the smell, the yellow-throated marten leaped off Chen Wen like a flash.

Dragging the bobcat, it darted into the bushes.

The bobcat immediately followed.

The crested honey buzzard was off foraging and wasn’t around.

After waiting for about a minute, Chen Wen followed behind the yellow-throated marten, ready to back it up, to avoid it encountering an animal it couldn’t handle.

...

In the bushes.

With its slender body, the yellow-throated marten moved swiftly.

The bobcat was slower but could use its powerful jumping ability to find another path from the trees.

Chen Wen could only follow slowly from behind.

This search didn’t last long before the yellow-throated marten stopped.

It stood under a big tree, sniffing around.

”The smell is here, why isn’t there any food?”

The yellow-throated marten said to the bobcat, puzzled.

The bobcat walked over slowly, also sniffing the scent.

It was equally puzzled, ”Yes, I can smell it as well, and there’s a scent of blood in the soil, it’s fresh, yet there’s no prey in sight?”

Amidst the bewilderment of the two animals.

Chen Wen slowly approached.

In his eyes, the scent of blood resembled threads of blood-red silk, constantly tangling and guiding him.

But this time the blood-colored silk was peculiar, it appeared as a column of smoke straight up.

Seems like an injured animal hiding above.

”You’re looking in the wrong direction.”

Chen Wen directed the yellow-throated marten and the bobcat.

The yellow-throated marten and bobcat paused, then raised their heads sharply.

Chen Wen looked up as well.

But the next second, both Chen Wen and the two animals shivered involuntarily.

Above their heads, precisely around three meters above their heads.

A cat-like creature, larger than the bobcat, with a golden body and large dark spots, hung upside down on the tree.

Is it dead?

Chen Wen couldn’t help but wonder.

But the next second, the cat-like creature hanging still on the tree noticed it had been discovered.

It suddenly arched its body, its dangling front paws clawing at the branch.

Then, something shocking happened to Chen Wen.

Somehow, the cat-like creature’s ankles grabbed the branch from below.

It was running upside down on the branch, all four paws in the air.

Damn!

Running upside down?

Chen Wen encountered this peculiar creature for the first time.

And it was a special creature!

But before he could speak, the yellow-throated marten let out a savage cry, ”It’s badly injured! Kill it! Don’t let it run!”

Before the cry ended, the yellow-throated marten climbed up the tree like a swift wind, attempting to chase and hunt the cat-like creature.

The bobcat also let out a fierce cry, its fur standing on end.

This state of the bobcat was only seen by Chen Wen during its fight with the coyote.

It seemed the cat-like creature above made the bobcat sense a severe threat.

No matter what, in facing this bizarre cat-like creature.

To ensure the safety of the bobcat and yellow-throated marten, Chen Wen quickly chased after them.

The jungle chase began.

The upside-down running cat was swift and agile, seemingly very adept at moving within the trees.

Every choice of landing, every leap, was incredibly precise and swift.

In contrast, the bobcat appeared clumsier.

After all, it excelled more on the ground.

But at this moment, the yellow-throated marten lived up to the name Huang Feng, its speed incredibly fast and agility not inferior to the upside-down running cat.

And the upside-down running cat was injured, especially in its front half.

Due to the running, the front half of its body had started bleeding.

Causing its speed to gradually slow down.

Taking this opportunity, the yellow-throated marten once again burst with speed.

It lunged at the upside-down running cat, its front paws grabbing onto the cat’s body.

The upside-down running cat was ferocious.

It turned around and bit back, using the same tactics as the bobcat.

With previous experience, the yellow-throated marten handled it well this time.

It held onto the cat’s fur tightly, and while the cat was off balance from the bite, it aimed at the open wound and struck hard.

The upside-down running cat’s wound was again severely impacted. Its body shuddered, and it immediately started convulsing in pain.

The once agile body lost its balance.

Failing to hold on, it fell from the tree, taking the yellow-throated marten with it.

Seeing the two animals fall from a height, Chen Wen’s heart clenched.

Judging their landing spot, he suddenly sprinted forward.

With speed maxed out, before the two animals hit the ground, Chen Wen reached beneath them and caught them.

The yellow-throated marten slightly withdrew its fierce manner after sensing Chen Wen’s presence.

As it was about to continue tearing at the upside-down running cat, Chen Wen stopped it: ”No need to attack, this guy has already fainted.”

Saying so, Chen Wen grabbed the skin on the cat’s neck and placed it on the ground.

If its chest wasn’t still heaving, anyone would have thought it was a dead body.

”It has too many wounds, and they all seem recent.”

Chen Wen said, parting the cat’s fur to expose its injuries.

The yellow-throated marten tucked away its ferocity, squatting beside Chen Wen.

Looking at the wounds, it remarked abruptly, ”These injuries are just like that mouse’s injuries, did you see?”

Chen Wen nodded slightly at this, ”Yes, clean wounds, must have been caught in a trap.”

At this moment, the bobcat lightly leaped down as well, ”Chen Wen, what do you plan to do with it?”

”Eat it!”

The yellow-throated marten immediately suggested.

To it, this was ready-made food.

But Chen Wen hesitated.

He looked at the bobcat, and the bobcat looked back.

Apparently, this unknown feline brought back memories for it.

”Don’t eat it yet.”

Chen Wen stopped the eager yellow-throated marten, ”It’s also a communicative animal like you two.”

The same?

The yellow-throated marten was stunned.

It bared its teeth at the cat lying on the ground, craving the food yet hesitating rationally.

Seeing the yellow-throated marten’s dilemma, Chen Wen made the decision for it, ”Let’s wake it up first and ask about its injuries. If it cooperates and tells us the truth, we’ll save it. If it doesn’t say anything, you can deal with it.”

This decision was approved by the two animals.

Chen Wen began the rescue, but gauging the cat’s character, he felt the chances of cooperation were high.

Because the upside-down running cat seemed to have a friendly nature.
