Pokemon: My Trainer Simulator

Chapter 547: Chapter 406: Grass-Type ”Blaze” (Part 2)

”Is it because the ’Ace’ hasn’t entered the field yet?”

He recalled Tetsuya’s Meowth, don’t be fooled by its small size and lack of evolution, in reality, its combat power, just like Pikachu’s, far exceeds that of its evolved forms.

Unfortunately, Meowth had just battled Bonnie’s Glalie, otherwise, Tetsuya would definitely have sent it to fight.

Baimu couldn’t help but feel a bit regretful.

At this time, the crowd of onlookers who had initially run away came back, gazing in amazement at the massive pit; they had only seen such levels of destruction in battles on TV and the internet, who would have thought they could witness it firsthand today.

Could a Gym Battle even be this exciting?

Can the fight continue?

——Of course, it can.

Baimu took a Pokeball out of his pocket.

”Since you started it, it’s only right for you to finish it. I’m counting on you!”

Bam!

A light flashed.

The Corsola fell into the deep pit, but it didn’t levitate immediately, instead, like an ordinary rock it bounced several times before stopping at the bottom of the pit.

”Sss...”

It shakily extended its smoke-like tentacles, turned around, and raised its head, its eyes full of extreme resentment.

You send me out without even a heads-up?

”Uh, I thought you heard me.”

Baimu said awkwardly and quickly changed the subject, ”Ugh! Stop dawdling! The opponent is coming!”

He saw that not far away, Tetsuya sent out Sceptile, deliberately choosing the remaining flat ground outside the pit, allowing Sceptile to take a height advantage over Corsola.

But the moment it landed, the burn marks on this guy’s body suddenly turned into fiery flames!

Whoosh!

”Sceptile!”

Sceptile kneeled slightly on the ground, showing pain.

”Hold on, Sceptile! Use Synthesis!” Tetsuya’s voice shouted.

After the sandstorm was dispersed by the aftershock of the Big Explosion, the voices of both trainers became clear again.

Sceptile raised its head, and the six yellow fruits on its back emitted white light in the sunlight, followed by a flash of yellow light appearing on its body, with signs of curing the burn marks on its surface.

”Body Freeze Technique!”

A flash of blue light suddenly appeared on Sceptile, instantly interrupting the Synthesis that hadn’t even been activated for a second, and not only that, but its ability to move was also bound, slowly being levitated into the air.

And the source of the blue light came from Corsola in the pit.

Tetsuya was shocked, ”Sceptile!”

Under normal circumstances, given Sceptile’s speed, such a strong control move would never have hit, but Synthesis isn’t a move that can be executed while moving.

By hastily ordering Synthesis, Tetsuya unwittingly gave an opening.

Of course.

He couldn’t be blamed; the burn condition left Sceptile in a precarious situation, and without using Synthesis to recover a bit, he could only wait for it to faint, and besides, his understanding of Galarian Corsola was limited to the Illustrated Guide data.

The difference between the content shown in the Illustrated Guide and actual usage was too much, who would have known Corsola’s mental control abilities were so swift.

Moreover, the geographical advantage held by Sceptile gave Tetsuya some level of comfort...

As a result, Baimu, who held the advantage of information disparity, easily suppressed Sceptile once more.

With just one move.

Tetsuya clenched his fists, ”Sceptile, break free! You can do it!”

Corsola in the pit floated up slowly; its speed was slow but had a visibly intimidating trend as it moved closer to Sceptile, creating an oppressive sensation that induced hallucinations in Sceptile, struggling fiercely.

It seemed as if what approached was not Corsola but a terrifying phantom of black mist.

The phantom seemed poised to engulf it, exposing sharp claws and a gaping maw —

”Sceptile— Sceptile!”

Sceptile’s body trembled as green light overflowed from its surface, suppressing the blue light of the Body Freeze Technique!

Bang!

A popping sound echoed in the void as it broke free from the constraints of the Body Freeze Technique, regaining its freedom. A surge of power erupted from within, rendering even the burning pain dull.

The green light flared like fire; at this moment, Sceptile resembled a Super Saiyan.

It looked towards Corsola in the distance, its yellow jade-like eyes brimming with a sharp gleam.

”Vigorous Trait!”

Tetsuya was initially surprised, then joyful. Once a special Trait of the Grass Attribute Three Families, it seemed somewhat mediocre in the games. But in the anime, it had been used as an aggressive Berserker Infernape trait, even achieving the amazing feat of Blood Lock.

Judging by his long-term battles, the Vigorous Trait wasn’t triggered often... Maybe there’s a chance for a comeback!

”Flying Leaf Storm!”

He shouted, and the Sceptile started to move.

The next moment.

”Mysterious Light!”

The floating Corsola suddenly transformed into a massive Flash Grenade, peculiar colorful lights like a kaleidoscope.

The green leaves had just started flying from around the Sceptile when its eyes glazed over, pupils instantly losing focus, leading the stored Flying Leaf Storm toward the sky.

Whoosh——

The burning green light enhanced the power of the Flying Leaf Storm, but couldn’t break free from the state of confusion.

Tetsuya’s smile completely froze.

More painful than despair is the brief hope that preceded it. He watched Baimu in the distance, calm-faced, as if not surprised at all by Sceptile triggering the Vigorous Trait.

But without a doubt, the confusion became the last straw that crushed Sceptile.

Because its Vigorous Trait wasn’t like Infernape’s Blaze, which could significantly increase the power of Grass Attribute moves, but couldn’t bring about the magical ability of Blood Lock.

No matter how Tetsuya tried to awaken Sceptile with his voice, the burning and confused state meant it couldn’t turn the tables, and before Corsola’s Misfortune Never Comes Alone it had already ”self-destructed” successfully.

With a bang, it collided with a rock at the bottom of the giant crater, eyes rolling back and quickly fainting.

Slightly mockingly.

Yet, Mysterious Light is really useful, especially against these Berserker Pokémon whose powers suddenly increase but stamina doesn’t.

Baimu wasn’t stubborn enough to pit Corsola against Sceptile.

Not mentioning whether Corsola could hold its own, it isn’t the type to go the fierce attack route. Why take the main offensive against others?

Aerial Rotom descended and loudly announced:

”Sceptile has lost its ability to battle, Corsola wins! The final victor is—Corsola’s side!”

Moments later.

Applause began sparsely, then gradually grew to a fervent state.

Some trainers who originally wanted to challenge Baimu or Tetsuya looked at the giant pit on the field and chose to retreat.

Can’t win, can’t win.

”Whew...”

Baimu sighed in relief, the battle was finally over.

Through this fight, he also assessed his current strength.

Steelix is only fourth in raw power in his team, yet it could continously defeat two of Tetsuya’s Pokémon, proving its strength should be above average tournament Champion level and also above the ordinary Gym Leader.

But how far is the distance to Celestial King?

To be honest, before the anime journey’s version updates, the gap between Celestial King and regular trainers was definitively wide, the disparity in fighting power was terrifying unless it was Tobias, the Divine Beast Man, otherwise Champions are just like food delivery.

Wonder if there’s a chance to have a match with Bonnie...

He thought with some longing, mildly regretful that the Pokémon World Championship hadn’t started yet.

Probably only when Ash Ketchum travels to Alola will there be the first one.

Baimu retrieved Corsola.

”You’ve worked hard, staying strong from start to finish, right?”

The Pokeball was quiet, the Corsola inside clearly was not eager to pay him any attention.

A bit resentful, this guy.

He looked away toward Tetsuya approaching while avoiding the giant crater, actively greeting, ”Thank you, you’ve worked hard Tetsuya sir, and your Pokémon as well.”

”No, no, it’s me who should thank you guys, it was truly a splendid matchup.”

Tetsuya’s face no longer bore any signs of defeat, as he smiled and extended his hand saying, ”Just call me by my name, Baimu, you and your Pokémon earned my admiration.”

”You’re too kind.”

Exchanging polite compliments, they took the injured Pokémon to the Pokémon Center for healing.

While waiting, they chatted. Tetsuya couldn’t help but bring up his regret of not having forced out the third Pokémon, and extended an invitation, ”If you don’t mind, would you like to come to my place for dinner tonight? I’m sure my sister would be very pleased.”

”Sorry, I have something to do tonight, how about tomorrow instead?”

Baimu needed to buy a phone for Mawile next, and also wanted to dine at the food court, where there’s a place he cared about——

[Golduck’s Smile] Hoenn branch.

Operated by his ”brother apprentice”, once his simulation target [Chef Lokomoko]’s disciple.
