Pokemon: My Trainer Simulator

Chapter 540: Chapter 403: Facing the Champion

Once someone gains fame, the world seems to become smaller.

At least Baimu never expected that Tetsuya would know him, and that the latter had a sister, who was his fan.

”Let’s... talk somewhere else first.”

Noticing the glances from those around, he decisively turned and led Tetsuya out of the Pokémon Center lobby, with Rotom’s broadcast still echoing in his ears as he exited.

”Take care, Roto~”

Outside.

Thanks to Bonnie’s presence, no one paid attention to these two minor figures.

Baimu took a notebook from his pocket, wrote down his name, tore off the page, and handed it to him, ”Is this okay?”

”Thank you so much!”

Tetsuya happily accepted the note, ”Ah! If I could take a photo with you and Mawile...”

He took out his phone, looking a bit embarrassed, probably doing such a fangirl-like activity for the first time, but for his sister’s sake, he suppressed his shame and nervously made his request.

”Sure, but I also need your help with something.”

Baimu glanced in the direction where Bonnie was sitting.

The popularity of the Four Heavenly Kings was too high, even if he rushed over now he most likely wouldn’t get a chance to fight her, it would be better to seize the chance to battle with the former championship winner, Tetsuya.

After all, the Pokémon for tomorrow’s battle has already been decided, he just needs to pick the top three strongest from the remaining Pokémon.

And Tetsuya, having received permission, agreed without hesitation, ”Help? Just tell me what you need!”

”Don’t worry, I just hope to have a battle with you. You’re a former championship winner, right? I’ve always wanted to battle someone as strong as you.”

Baimu said softly.

Hearing the challenge request, Tetsuya was momentarily stunned, then scratched his head bashfully, ”Battle? Of course! But I’m not worthy of the title of champion, I’m just the winner of the regional league tournament.”

”Being a winner is quite impressive too.”

Baimu responded while releasing Mawile, and whispered to it, ”Help your little fan take a photo together.”

”Chitto~”

Mawile nodded knowingly, a modest and ladylike smile on its face.

It had already mastered related publicity skills, could even pinpoint the camera’s location precisely, and despite Tetsuya’s shaky selfie hand like Parkinson’s, the image of the two men remained blurry and yet Mawile remained elegant on its own.

”This...”

Tetsuya looked down at the photo, troubled, and wondered if he should just use this one to satisfy his sister?

”If you don’t mind, let me handle it.” Baimu suggested, took the phone, and quickly snapped a clear photo.

As someone who enjoys keeping various beautiful and silly photos of his Pokémon in his phone and camera, he has some skills in photography.

Tetsuya was overjoyed with the clear photo, ”I can’t thank you enough!”

Thinking back, taking that previous photo back might have gotten him in trouble with his sister. After finally meeting his idol and getting a signature, delivering such a blurry photo would have been disappointing.

The two chatted briefly and agreed on a one-on-one three Pokémon battle.

But before starting, Baimu mentioned he needed to schedule a challenge at the Mauville Gym, and it just so happened that Tetsuya was waiting for his Meowth to finish treatment, so the timing was perfect.

On the way to Mauville Gym.

Baimu asked Mawile if it wanted a smartphone, remembering that it seemed to have always been interested in selfies and photography.

”Chitto?”

Mawile’s eyes lit up; indeed, it loved admiring its own beautiful photos and often browsed through the ones Baimu took of it.

Unfortunately, the thought that it couldn’t operate such human inventions left it a bit dispirited again.

Baimu chuckled, ”What are you worried about? Have you forgotten there’s Porygon? Just tell it what you want to do, and it can enable the functions for you.”

”Chitto!”

Mawile suddenly realized it had forgotten there was an ”expert” in artificial intelligence among its companions. So, does this mean it can have a phone?

A delighted Mawile couldn’t help advancing with a small skip, its hair and the Giant Jaw on the back of its head bobbing up and down, resembling a happy little rabbit, ”Chitto~ Chitto~”

But after two jumps, it gracefully shifted back to its usual small steps, as it felt the gazes from the passersby.

A lady must remain dignified in front of others.

Ten minutes later.

Baimu returned with Mawile and successfully met up with Tetsuya at the entrance of the Pokémon Center.

”Sorry for the wait.”

”It wasn’t a long wait, Meowth just finished its treatment. And coincidentally, Queen Bonnie’s teaching battle just ended, so we can start at that venue.”

”It’s over!”

He realized that the crowds gathered near Central Park had already dispersed.

That was fast!

No wonder a Celestial King is like clearing random trainers when battling ordinary trainers.

Tetsuya apologized, ”Earlier at the food court, I happened to meet Queen Bonnie, and in my excitement, I challenged her for a battle, not expecting it to be such a hassle for her.”

”Food court?”

”Yes! Queen Bonnie ordered the Mauville mixed noodles, a giant bowl, and her boldness in finishing it in a short time was truly impressive!”

”A giant bowl...”

Baimu recalled Bonnie’s appearance and attire, finding it hard to imagine that elegant ice queen-like woman devouring a large steaming bowl of mixed noodles with such enthusiasm.

If I had come earlier, perhaps I could have seen it.

He inexplicably felt a bit regretful.

Arriving at the battle arena, there were still several trainers nearby, either not fully satisfied or regretting not getting in line, who turned to look when they saw Tetsuya.
