Pokemon: My Trainer Simulator

Chapter 529: Chapter 397: Dragon Race Civil War (Part 2)

The desert wind at night can freeze someone into hypothermia.

Baimu recalled Alice’s childhood and roughly understood her thoughts, growing up accustomed to living with wild Pokémon.

When it came time to feed the Pokémon, they were more or less ”frank with each other.”

Alice was very surprised by Pokémon like Aggron.

”From your team, it doesn’t seem like you’re a Dragon Tamer at all!”

Earlier, during their chat, Baimu told her that he was barely considered a member of the Meteor People from Meteor Falls, a not particularly formal Dragon Tamer.

At first, she didn’t understand what ”not particularly formal” meant, but now that she saw the Aggrons, she realized that, after all, the team of a Dragon Tamer only had one Dragon-type Pokémon.

Counting the Milotic of the dragon egg group as half.

”You’re not much better than me.”

Baimu glanced over the Excadrill and Emolga, and finally his eyes landed on a bird-like creature with multicolored feathers and a snake-like head, appearing both fierce and peculiar—

Archeops, the Ancient Bird Pokémon, possessing the [Weakness] trait which is one of the most useless traits.

Unexpectedly, Alice’s sixth Pokémon was it.

Remember holding it in a game?

”I picked up this fossil and revived it, and it was quite an ordeal back then!” Alice, seeing his interest in Archeops, told a little story.

Basically, she got lucky picking up a fossil, successfully revived it with someone’s help, got targeted by a poaching team, accidentally lost it, and then successfully retrieved it with Gible’s sensory abilities—a typical scenario.

There was also the part about gaining trust through being bitten by the Archen.

No matter how violent the Pokémon, once it bites a person, its eyes and language would quickly conquer it, and kindness is always the key to overcoming Pokémon in the animated version.

Unlike in the game ”Legendary Arceus” where they wouldn’t be satisfied until they beat you into amnesia.

”By the way, does your Archeops know Double-bladed Head Hammer?”

Baimu suddenly asked.

Finding an Aggron that knows Double-bladed Head Hammer is too difficult, to the point where the big monster with the trait of Hard Head still hasn’t learned this rock-type big move.

Sharp Stone Attack is sufficient, especially after Super Evolution when its trait becomes Filter, and the Rock attribute is gone.

But lacking Double-bladed Head Hammer, something feels missing. Moreover, although it’s an egg move, isn’t it possible Aggron could learn it from Archeops?

Unfortunately, Alice shook her head.

”That’s a pity.”

Baimu regretfully patted Aggron’s arm.

The latter didn’t mind; even without the so-called Double-bladed Head Hammer, its power would remain unshaken.

——

The next day.

Early morning.

The energetic Alice came to knock on the door.

”Good morning! Baimu! Wake up! Baimu!”

Though they were traveling together, they didn’t share a room like when they traveled with Ash Ketchum. Regardless of whether Alice cared or not, Baimu definitely didn’t want to be the first.

”happy~”

Nurse Blissey, while pushing a cleaning cart, tugged at her clothes and pointed outside.

”Eh? Has he already gone out?”

Alice easily understood Nurse Blissey’s meaning and nimbly ran downstairs and out of the Pokémon Center, only to see Baimu by the oasis pool in the distance, doing his morning exercise.

In the shimmering pool, the altered-color Milotic twisted its body, the sunlight illuminating its golden scales and tail fin, radiating brilliance.

She couldn’t help but be entranced.

”So beautiful...”

”Indeed.”

A voice suddenly sounded in her ear, startling her.

Alice then realized that sometime during his morning exercise, Baimu had already come to her side.

Baimu said with great emotion, ”Even as its trainer, I often find myself deeply attracted to it. While watching videos of other Milotics online before, I just thought they were pretty and moved on without a second thought.”

”Why?”

”Why... maybe it’s the heart.”

He smiled, ”Those Milotics before belonged to others, but now that there’s one among my own partners, the feeling is completely different, the feeling is entirely different. Another reason could be because videos only use sight and hearing, and they’re limited by pixels and quality, not as real as in reality.”

Alice thought for a moment.

Suddenly she snapped out of it and said, ”Wait! Battle! Let’s have a battle! We agreed on it yesterday!”

”Battle before breakfast?”

”It’s the same if we eat after the battle!”

Alice said eagerly, seemingly having looked forward to this battle for quite some time.

Baimu looked at her expression, unsure for a moment whether she wanted him to learn Dragon’s Heart or simply wanted to challenge him as a Dragon Tamer.

But.

”Alright!”

He nodded, ”How should we battle? One on one? Three on three?”

”Of course, it’s three-on-three! I’ll send out all my Dragon-type Pokémon!” Alice declared her choice openly.

Baimu looked at the Milotic in the pool and said, ”In that case, I’ll use the three Pokémon in my team that have the most dragon-like feel.”

”Alright!”

The two of them headed to the battlefield behind the Pokémon Center.

Although the place seemed rarely used, Nurse Blissey still kept it very clean, with only a thin layer of sand blown in by the wind.

Since there was no drone referee and Miss Joy and Blissey were busy, they had to set the rules themselves.

”Does it matter who sends out their Pokémon first?”

Baimu asked.

Standing at the opposing trainer’s position, Alice shouted loudly, ”Release together! Attack together!”

”Alright.”

He took out a Pokeball and exposed it to the sunlight, ”Are you ready?”

”Ready!”

”Start!”

As Baimu’s voice fell, two Pokeballs flew up and opened with a bang.

White light flickered.

Fraxure and the altered-color Milotic each landed on opposite sides of the field.

”Orong!”

”Meeelo~”

The morning sun wasn’t particularly strong, so it had little effect on the Water attribute altered-color Milotic, which was why Baimu chose it as his first Pokémon.

Yet Alice surprisingly chose to start with Fraxure, which caught him a little off guard.

What was the Trait again?

Rivalry? Mold Breaker?

If it was the former, it would be interesting. A male Fraxure encountering a female Milotic would inevitably have reduced move power... but most likely, it’s the Mold Breaker Trait.

”Dragon Dance!”

”Charge! Black Mist!”

Both trainers gave their orders.

Fraxure began a vigorous war dance on the spot, with an orange-red glow lighting up its body surface.

Suddenly, as it moved forward, Milotic spewed a thick, smoky Black Mist, covering most of the field in an instant, causing the orange-red glow to quickly turn into a pale blue descending light.

Alice was momentarily stunned but quickly perceived the icy blue light flickering within the Black Mist.

”Quickly dodge to the side!”

She shouted.

In the next moment.

”Blizzard!”

The visible blue-white cold stream, mixed with milky white snowflakes, suddenly dispersed the Black Mist and froze the ground on one side of the field into ice shards.

The source was the mouth and golden fan-like tail fin of the altered-color Milotic, with the former spewing out the cold breath and the latter rapidly fanning to enhance the power and range of the Blizzard.

”Eek!”

Alice trembled with her arms crossed, feeling the residual effects of the Blizzard.

Luckily, thanks to her prompt command, the Fraxure standing at the edge of the field managed to evade Milotic’s attack and looked at the frozen ground nearby with a horrified expression.

An opponent using Ice-type moves.

The type it’s most vulnerable to.

However, such a powerful and wide-ranging move inevitably had a gap after use—or a move cooldown, which led Alice to choose the bold strategy of a direct attack.

”Fraxure, use Dragon Claw!”

”Orong!”

Fraxure, shouting to bolster its courage, charged forward, approaching Milotic in a seemingly suicidal rush, raising a pair of glowing green claws and fiercely striking down.

Bang! Bang!

Dragon Claw landed on Milotic, exploding into two clouds of dust, causing the latter to show a slightly pained expression.

But before Fraxure could retreat, a glorious golden tail swiftly wrapped around it at a speed far surpassing its own.

Whoosh!

Even if it couldn’t execute a move, it didn’t mean Milotic’s body couldn’t move, and for a ”snake,” binding an opponent was a basic skill!

”Orong!?”

Fraxure was shocked, as was Alice, who showed a surprised expression, ”Fraxure, quickly break free!”

”Hypnosis Techniques!”

Baimu didn’t give them that chance.

Milotic’s gem-like, pale blue eyes shone with captivating brilliance, releasing countless semi-transparent, pink-purple rings forward, causing Fraxure’s eyelids to quickly grow heavy.

In an instant.

It lowered its head and fell into a deep sleep!
