Chapter 516: Chapter 391: Sister Xiangfen (2)

”Then I shall gratefully accept.”

He was able to visit this clinic that he had only seen in dreams.

To be honest, many parts of the clinic struck him as inexplicably familiar, presumably because Sister Xiangfen had passed by during her material gathering, leaving subconscious imprints in his memory.

To avoid mistakenly heading toward a pre-established destination without Arisa’s guidance, Baimu deliberately slowed down by half a step.

Thanks to Arisa’s extensive introduction, he successfully learned about a broader range of essences and the various special products derived from them.

From healthcare, repellents, combat influence, to beauty, gourmet, and even reproduction.

A more straightforward product - incense, which already exists in games, can enhance the power of specific attribute moves and also enable certain Pokémon to breed ”baby Pokémon.”

What are baby Pokémon?

They are a group of tiny Pokémon that cannot directly breed with other Pokémon, such as Munchlax, Pichu, Riolu, Budew, etc.

In the clinic, a pair of Roselia were nurturing their Pokémon egg, though their thirty-centimeter height was nearly the same as the Pokémon egg itself.

Meanwhile, a pair of Jigglypuff and Wigglytuff had successfully hatched an Igglybuff, whose adorable, bouncing, pink balloon-like appearance made people envious.

However, Baimu didn’t enter the breeding room to disturb them; he merely peeked through the window.

Next was the Pokémon materials collection room.

Essences primarily utilize pollen, scales, body fluids, and parts of the branch and leaf tissues from Grass Attribute and Bug Attribute Pokémon.

Occasionally, there are exceptions.

”Salazzle!”

Baimu didn’t expect to see a Pokémon from the Alola Region in the Hoenn Region.

Upon seeing a male human suddenly appear in front of her, the Salazzle struck a seductive pose and winked at him, releasing a strange scent.

”Don’t tease the guest.”

Arisa gently tapped Salazzle on the head, and the strange scent promptly vanished.

She turned and said, ”The Poison Gas of Salazzle contains a large amount of pheromones that can be directly used to make perfumes or to enhance ambiance in incense, which is quite popular among young people.”

”Oh, I see.”

Baimu nodded to show he understood.

”Actually, it’s not just Salazzle. In theory, all Pokémon that can learn Sweet Fragrance have materials worth collecting,” Arisa revealed something particularly surprising to him.

”As long as they know Sweet Fragrance?”

”Yes.”

”What about Mawile? Which part should be collected? What type of essence can it produce?”

Baimu took out a notebook from his pocket.

Arisa admitted embarrassedly, ”Sorry, I’m still researching that. My grandmother proposed this theory before she passed away, and it’s not fully conclusive yet.”

Sister Xiangfen brought it up.

”Alright.”

He reluctantly put the notebook back, feeling a hint of excitement just moments ago. He had learned Sweet Fragrance only yesterday and didn’t know how to use it, and now there was an answer.

Eventually.

Arisa took him into the Essence Blending Room, ”Would you like to try blending some essences yourself? All the materials I mentioned are here, and here’s a recipe book you can freely browse.”

”Hmm.”

Baimu looked at the thick book before him, its familiar handwriting triggering his memories.

If he remembered correctly, this should be Sister Xiangfen’s handwritten recipe book. Not only had it been passed to Arisa, but it had also become much thicker, and the slightly faded writing confirmed it was the one from his memory.

Previously, he always regretted that his memories of Sister Xiangfen never involved opening other recipes, being fixated on the Chapter of awakening and dryness.

Yet now, he could freely browse...

Was Arisa perhaps too trusting of others?

”Feel free to browse; these are all recipes that don’t involve economic contracts,” Arisa gently reminded, thinking he was concerned about that.

”Alright.”

He rolled up his sleeves, opened the recipe book, searching for the Essence of Fitness and Cold Expulsion. Since he could learn recipes, he definitely wanted to learn those that enhance health and attributes, as these essences have more direct effects.

After confirming the recipe, it was time for practical work.

Baimu selected materials from his surroundings, and with impressive proficiency, he placed them into beakers and test tubes, stirring and shaking them with a glass rod.

Arisa maintained a smile initially, but as she watched, her expression became stunned and then somewhat emotional, her eyelashes trembling as she rubbed her eyes.

It wasn’t that Baimu’s techniques were particularly astounding or shocking.

But watching his back, Arisa was reminded of her grandmother.

Despite their differences in attire, hair, and even height, their movements seemed like they were cast from the same mold—the raise of the hand, the number of stirs, the smooth motion of pouring.

Even the crisp sound of the glass rod accidentally tapping the cup’s wall when stirring—though onlookers might frown or sneer, thinking only amateurs make such blunders—was the most wonderful sound to Arisa.

That was her childhood.

It was a precious memory.

In the years since her grandmother’s passing, she had often been startled awake by the sharp knocking sound in dreams, finding her pillow damp with tears upon awakening.

The person who used to smile gently at her, guide her in making essences, and tell her to maintain a kind heart and what was truly worth persisting, was no longer around.

Arisa took a shallow breath, finding her breathing constantly trembling, hot tears streaming down her cheeks, her vision blurred as if she had returned to the past.
