Pokemon: My Trainer Simulator

Chapter 521: Chapter 393: Unova Champion? (2)

He called Alice, but no one answered, and he couldn’t hear the ringtone around him.

”Looks like I still need to try using the sandstorm.”

Baimu hung up and retreated, calling the Steelix from Pyrite Town that was busy plowing the field, as Aggron couldn’t use sandstorm, so the Steelix had to come.

”Roar~”

The Steelix came to work without hesitation, its horizontal steel bones spinning like the blades of a mixer, causing the ground’s gravel to surge up, transforming instantly into a sandstorm that enveloped the entire surrounding area.

The Emolga peeked out from under its cape, saw the sandstorm, and immediately shrank back, clutching the corner of the garment tightly.

Baimu put on goggles and focused on the direction indicated by his phone’s location.

Suddenly.

Light and shadows flickered and twisted.

A towering yellow sandstone tower appeared before his eyes, its sky-reaching form looking imposing and terrifying in the sandstorm, filled with a mysterious and ancient aura.

Especially when the sandstorm caused the wind to howl, it seemed to emit some eerie screams from inside.

Hmm?

The screams seemed to get clearer?

Baimu was taken aback for a moment, then saw a shadow rushing out of the Phantom Tower’s entrance at high speed.

It wasn’t until it got closer that he realized it was a black-haired girl flailing like a flag, clinging to a blue object that was protruding from the ground. This blue object sprinted so fast that the black-haired girl was lifted off the ground by the gusts.

The screaming came from the girl.

At the same time, they seemed to be rushing madly in this direction.

”Get out of the way! Get out of the way!”

”Make them stop.”

Baimu stepped back, while the Steelix and Aggron exchanged looks to decide who would act.

Then, the former stopped its spinning steel bones, its tail swung swiftly like a whip, crashing into the sand with a boom, forming a Copper Wall and Iron Wall blocking the path.

Bang!

A sharp and clear crash.

A small Pokémon that looked like a shark and a dinosaur crawled up from the ground, dizzy and swaying in place, while the black-haired girl fell to the ground, wiping the sand off her face with her hands.

”Ptooey! I told you not to run so fast!”

Alice got up, complaining to Gible while apologizing to Baimu, ”Sorry, sorry!”

The Emolga under the cape heard her voice and excitedly popped out to rush over.

Unfortunately, its wings still couldn’t spread, and it started falling to the ground after less than a meter, but luckily Baimu reached out and caught it, sending it over.

”Emolga!”

Back with its Trainer, the Emolga was unusually excited.

”Ah! Emolga!”

Alice hugged it excitedly, ”I was so worried about you, where did you go?”

”Emolga~”

The Emolga rubbed its Trainer’s face repeatedly, even more coquettish than in the animation, perhaps because it had finally reunited with its Trainer.

After comforting each other for a while, Alice raised her head and saw Baimu not far away, along with the Aggron and Mega Steelix.

”Incredible! It’s the first time I’ve seen such a large Steelix!”

She looked up in awe, then added, ”Sorry, thank you for taking care of Emolga for so long, sorry if it caused you trouble.”

”It’s no problem.”

The latter nodded slightly, his eyes now focused on the Phantom Tower behind, which was disappearing as the sandstorm subsided, ”What did you encounter in there?”

”There?”

Alice turned around and noticed the Phantom Tower was completely gone, suddenly exclaiming, ”Ah! My luggage is still in there! My lunch and Gible’s food too!”

”I’ll summon it using a sandstorm again later, the tower only appears during a sandstorm,” Baimu explained.

Alice’s eyes widened in realization, ”No wonder I couldn’t find the door earlier, it just suddenly appeared!”

”Yes, so what does it look like inside the Phantom Tower, and what did you encounter?” he asked again.

Growl——

The first response was Alice’s stomach.

They exchanged glances, and the future Unova Champion’s cheeks flushed visibly red, embarrassed, turning her head with a shy smile.

It seems that although she had been influenced a lot by Ash Ketchum, Alice was not as thick-skinned as him.

”... If you don’t mind, let’s have a meal together, we can talk while eating.”

Baimu sighed and said.

Alice wanted to decline, not being the trusting type, but remembering Emolga had been taken care of, and that Baimu had come to rescue her, she chuckled, ”Thank you, I’ll gratefully accept then.”

——

In the shade of a giant sand dune.

Baimu generously shared the food, and Alice and her Pokémon devoured it hungrily.

Predictably, the Axew that once hid in Alice’s hair had evolved into a Fraxure and would one day become the Champion’s ace Pokémon, Haxorus.

Alongside it was the infamously fierce Dragonite, stubborn enough not to heed Alice despite dozens of episodes, her Excadrill, and the Gible caught in Yanmo City.

No wonder they chased after the Flygon, there were only five Pokémon in total!

”Aren’t your Pokémon eating?”

Alice’s voice interrupted his thoughts.

”They’ve already eaten, it’s one in the afternoon now.”

Baimu replied, ”You still haven’t told me what you encountered in the Phantom Tower.”

”What I encountered...”

Alice’s expression turned a bit odd as she spoke of it, ”If I told you they were stone monsters carved into Pokémon shapes, would you believe me?”

”If you’re serious, I’ll believe it.”

He nodded calmly.

The peculiar thing about the animated world is its abundance of extraordinary phenomena, such as Aggron transforming into a massive Gengar, or a bell turning into a giant Wigglytuff, capturing gigantic Claydol using stone Pokeballs, even malicious spirits possessing others, and so forth.

The animation world teems with bizarre entities, thanks to the imaginative ancient civilizations created by the writers.

Alice was surprised by Baimu’s response but continued, ”The tower has four floors, each filled with mechanisms, stepping on them could cause a fall or activate Pokémon statues that attack, the statues restore themselves after being destroyed, it’s a real hassle.”

”Self-restoring Pokémon statues...”

He thought the Phantom Tower, merely a unique spot for fossils in the game, seemed to transform into some ancient relic of civilization in the animation.

”But I found two well-preserved fossils on the top floor! I put them in my bag! If I can get my bag out later, I’ll share one with you!”

Alice said.

”There’s really no need...”

”It’s necessary, really! You saved me and Emolga! It’s only right!” Alice was quite decisive about this, and again asked, ”By the way, how did you know my number?”

”I learned about your situation from Emolga’s descriptions and asked Wu to tell me.”

Baimu didn’t hide anything, merely omitted the middle steps, letting Alice fill the gaps in her imagination.

Alice was quite surprised to hear this name, ”Brother Wu, huh...”

As a child, she would typically play with Wild Pokémon in the forest, rarely interacting with other residents of Dragon Land, her only friend being Changpu, who was the same age.

As for Wu, he was a distant cousin who used to look after her, though they weren’t particularly close.

”I didn’t expect you to know Brother Wu. Oh right, I never asked for your name!” Alice realized this important detail belatedly.

”My name is Baimu.”

Baimu said calmly; folks in Dragon Land probably wouldn’t be unfamiliar with the name since Wu must have mentioned it grandly.

But Alice might not know.

As expected.

”Mr. Baimu! Thank you for your generosity!” Alice showed no other expression on her face, only profound gratitude.

”Just call me Baimu.”

”Okay!” Alice nodded, then changed the subject, ”Forgive my boldness, but do you have any Dragon Attribute Pokémon?”
