Pokemon: My Trainer Simulator

Chapter 546: Chapter 406: Grass-Type ”Blaze

The enormous mushroom cloud was accompanied by intense ground tremors.

The shockwave, like a wall of air, swept through everything. The sandstorm meant to obscure vision combined with debris flying everywhere, sounding like bullets as they whistled through the air, striking the jungle, hitting the big trees. Some bystanders who were slow to react got hit by a stray piece, yelping in pain.

The Aerial Rotom in the sky wobbled, trying its best to stabilize itself in the fierce wind.

It somewhat regretted it.

It intended to prove to Baimu that Rotom was not a troublesome Pokémon, but didn’t expect Baimu to pull off something so big that it nearly scared it to death.

Big Explosions are common, but ones of such tremendous power are rare.

Fortunately, the foundations of Li Mauville are sturdy, and the battlegrounds nearby are specially reinforced and safe. Otherwise, with both an earthquake and a Big Explosion, it might have blown open the sewers, exposing the depths of New Mauville.

Of course.

The majority of the power was contained within the battlegrounds; the outward spread was mostly sound and smoke, and pebbles didn’t fly very far.

Pokémon moves mostly have the characteristic of concentrating their power, which means that if you’re not within the core damage range of the move, the mere aftershock of the explosion won’t cause much harm.

At least, that’s the case for humans in the Pokémon World. Turning and running is more to avoid getting covered in dust, and getting hit by a rock would hurt as well.

Baimu, wearing Molten Rock Armor, naturally stood his ground without retreating, at most covering his mouth and nose to prevent inhaling too much dust.

He was more concerned about Tetsuya’s situation on the opposite side.

Trainers are closest to the battlefield, and Tetsuya didn’t have the protection of Molten Rock Armor, so he might have been directly blown away by the shockwave, although the likelihood of injury was low...

But what if?

Not to mention, the battle isn’t over yet. It’s a bit over the top for a ”friendly” match to go this far; injuring someone wouldn’t be good.

The battlefield is too limited.

Baimu couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. If they were in the league tournament grounds, there’d be no need to worry about this. The main arena alone is over a hundred meters long, and with an area nearing ten thousand square meters.

In such a vast space, even a Mega Steelix could unleash itself freely.

But the battleground at this Central Park...

The range is truly limited, allowing for the establishment of five or six of them within Li Mauville without impacting other features like lawns, flower beds, and streets.

A gentle breeze blew.

The thick smoke and dust gradually dispersed.

Revealing the devastated battlefield, most of which had caved in, exposing a terrifyingly irregular giant crater—

Presumably dug by Steelix.

Combined with the earthquake caused by Metagross, the ground, already fragile from being hollowed out, couldn’t withstand it and collapsed on the spot due to the Big Explosion.

No wonder the ground shook so intensely just now!

Tetsuya’s figure appeared in the distance; though his clothes were covered in dust and he sat on the ground, staring blankly at the giant crater, he seemed uninjured.

”Cough, cough...”

Baimu fanned away the oncoming smoke, searching around to find the Metagross and Steelix lying on the ground, both with swirly eyes, covered in dust and gravel, clearly defeated by the Big Explosion.

No wonder Tetsuya was so shocked.

Steelix, being the initiator of the Big Explosion, was inevitably worse off than Metagross. Not only was it buried in gravel, but smoke wisps were also emanating from its mouth and joints.

But upon closer inspection, a hint of satisfaction could be seen on its face.

It seemed to think it was worth it even if it fainted.

An illusion?

No.

Baimu knew well this was because Steelix, having missed battling a worthy opponent for so long, felt elated after a successful victory.

This guy hadn’t had a good fight with a capable adversary in a while. Now, not only did it battle two main Pokémon of a former league champion, but it even won against them.

Not even Aggron got such glorious treatment; how could it not be happy?

Of course, what made Steelix happiest was the trainer acknowledging its decision and allowing it to use Big Explosion, using whatever strength it had left to go down with Metagross.

There might have been the option to temporarily withdraw.

But it was unwilling.

Since it could step onto the battlefield and gain the chance to battle a formidable foe, it wanted to continue fighting until it defeated all enemies or collapsed itself.

Baimu sensed Steelix’s strong will, which led him to deliberately create an opening and then choose to use Big Explosion.

The Aerial Rotom, returning in one piece, loudly announced:

”Metagross and Steelix have simultaneously lost their ability to battle!”

”You worked hard.”

Both he and Tetsuya recalled their defeated Pokémon into their Poké Balls.

Steelix was indeed fainted, but it still deserved praise for defeating two powerful adversaries.

Honestly speaking.

As fellow participants in the Ever Grande Conference, even though Tetsuya, as the winner, had a better record than the runner-up Mann Chong, overall he felt like Mann Chong was stronger.

Of course, he knew a big part of it was because his Pokémon had become stronger.

Although high-level Pokémon like Steelix don’t have significant level gains, each of their ability values had greatly improved compared to before, which means their Effort Value had increased.

Therefore, even though the level still hadn’t surpassed 70, its battling power had already transformed significantly.

Apart from this, Baimu still felt Tetsuya was not as strong as Mann Chong.
