Pokemon: My Trainer Simulator

Chapter 534: Chapter 400: Power of the Mind

”Ugh!”

The pain made Dragonite let out a wail. It flew in an arc towards the horizon, plunging into a pond deep in the jungle oasis with a loud splash that sent water soaring into the air.

Swish—

The water fell back into the pond like fireworks and gradually calmed down.

”Dragonite!”

Alice shouted as she ran towards it.

Surrounded by a red mist, the three-headed Hydreigon flapped its wings slowly, raising its head to let out a high and eerie roar.

”Shaaaargh—!!”

”Ugh.”

Baimu held his head, only feeling that his mind suddenly became a bit chaotic, as if many thoughts were crammed into it at once. He couldn’t hear the thoughts of the Hydreigon he wanted to listen to.

Is it because of the Inverted Scale?

He shouted at the Hydreigon: ”Come down! Fly down!”

He shouted twice with no response; the latter still yelled crazily with its hoarse voice as if intimidating someone or demonstrating its absolute power.

”Come down now!”

Baimu raised his voice with more intensity, and only then did the Hydreigon seem to awaken from a dream, turning its head and slowly descending.

”Sha, Shaaaargh...”

The once ferocious-looking Hydreigon lowered its head and its voice softened.

But he didn’t voice any blame. After all, it wasn’t deliberate. He just placed a hand on its chest, hoping to hear its inner thoughts.

Unfortunately, this deliberate gesture didn’t work, and even caused the chaotic thoughts in his mind to disappear, leaving only the extremely restless Hydreigon shrouded in red smoke.

In the game, after using Inverted Scale, you can’t use other moves for two to three turns, nor can you use items, switch it out, or even flee.

Why?

Through observation, Baimu came to two conclusions.

On one hand, it concerns the continuous energy attributed to the Inverted Scale, and on the other hand, the Pokémon entering a dual state of frenzy in mind and body after using Inverted Scale makes it hard to hear the trainer’s voice, even becoming uncontrollable.

It’s like a person losing reason in anger.

During this time, the three-headed Hydreigon’s response to his commands would dull rapidly, and its attack behaviors and logic would lean more towards instinctive actions.

In other words, the more combat experience it has, the higher its combat power under the Inverted Scale state.

And for those reckless Pokémon that go wild, using Inverted Scale might even become an opportunity for opponents to turn the tables, which is why he doesn’t favor this move.

Practically speaking, Inverted Scale isn’t a great move for the three-headed Hydreigon.

As a Pokémon whose prowess leans towards Special Attack, long periods causing only Physical Attack damage mean its output is limited. Even though it’s currently a mixed attacker, Baimu wouldn’t forget which aspect is stronger.

Fortunately, as the move has been used more, the control issues have improved to some extent.

For example, right now.

The Inverted Scale state hasn’t ended, but the three-headed Hydreigon has already heard his voice and obediently landed beside him.

Quite difficult.

It also showcased this creature’s remarkable talent.

After all, the reason for choosing Inverted Scale earlier was entirely because of the awkward positioning between the three-headed Hydreigon and Dragonite. If Dragonite were below, it wouldn’t have been so passive—trying Dragon’s Pulse at zero distance might even harm itself, and Dragon Dive wouldn’t launch properly.

The Inverted Scale, with its effective superiority and the boost from the Dragon Fang, was the most suitable, allowing a single blow to take out Dragonite.

The outcome was exactly as he expected.

Don’t be misled by Dragonite having used Feather Rest to recover; as long as its health didn’t return to a level that could trigger Multi-Scale, the Inverted Scale was unblockable, especially since it was hit twice.

One light, one heavy.

Even though Alice hadn’t returned, the result was already very clear.

”Weaker than I expected...”

Baimu muttered softly.

Though the Meteor Shower did full damage on Dragonite, with his estimate, it shouldn’t have been a big problem to withstand this move.

Was it too weak? Or was the Hydreigon wielding the Dragon Fang too strong?

He personally leaned towards the latter.

After all, the Hydreigon spent nearly a week in the Dragon Nest, fighting daily with the young and senior dragons there, so its strength definitely improved, as reflected in its level, reaching level 66 in just under a fortnight.

And after carrying the Dragon Fang, its Dragon Attribute move power increased linearly, even accomplishing the previously unfeasible Three-headed Meteor while at Meteor Village.

What level would Dragonite be? Around level 70?

In that case, the level difference with Hydreigon wasn’t too great, so losing was normal.

Not to brag about Baimu, but Alice clearly hadn’t grown up yet; her Fraxure hadn’t evolved, and her Gible just evolved, so losing to him was inevitable.

In the blink of an eye.

He noticed the red smoke on the Hydreigon’s body slowly dissipating, and the red glow in its eyes gradually dimming, signaling the end of Inverted Scale was apparent.

Before this guy fell into a complete chaotic state, he used a Pokeball to recall it.

From the bushes in the distance, Alice emerged holding a Pokeball.

”Dragonite is unable to battle!”

She candidly stated Dragonite’s condition and then took out the Pokeball housing Fraxure.

”Stop! Let’s end it here!”

Baimu raised his hand to stop her. A battle with a sleeping Fraxure was pointless, and even if it awoke at Alice’s call, it might not be a match for Hydreigon, ”Continuing isn’t meaningful, and I just had a little insight.”
