Pokemon: My Trainer Simulator

Chapter 535: Chapter 400: Power of the Mind (Part 2)

”Eh? Really?”

Alice exclaimed in surprise, having been too worried about Dragonite’s condition earlier to notice Baimu’s change in expression before issuing the Inverted Scale command, so she was a bit skeptical now.

He nodded, ”Really, if my perception ability wasn’t wrong.”

”Then let’s test it out!”

Alice opened her Pokeball, releasing the sleeping Fraxure, ”Come and see what mood Fraxure is in right now.”

Using someone else’s Pokémon right off the bat?

Baimu hesitated a bit, as he actually suspected he could sense Hydreigon’s emotions and thoughts, perhaps due to the mutual understanding cultivated over time. Switching to another Pokémon might not work—

But what if it does?

He approached Fraxure, gently placing his hand on its head and closed his eyes to perceive.

Unfortunately, all he could feel was Fraxure’s steady breathing, and the gentle warmth beneath its deep green heavy armor, with no inner emotional fluctuations.

”—Can’t feel anything.”

He opened his eyes and said regretfully.

Alice also nodded, ”I can tell, you were frowning the whole time without smiling.”

”Uh, what’s this got to do with smiling?”

”Because Fraxure is dreaming about playing games with other Pokémon. If you could sense its mood, you’d definitely smile.” Alice offered the standard answer.

As soon as she finished speaking, Fraxure woke up startled from its dream, quickly recalling what it had gone through, it looked around only to see the chaotic field and the two trainers already gathered together.

Did we win?

Fraxure looked at Alice.

”Sorry, we lost.” She candidly admitted their defeat.

Fraxure heard this and couldn’t help but lower its head in disappointment.

Alice placed her hand on its head and gently encouraged, ”It’s okay! We’ll win next time!”

”...Oh no!”

Fraxure lifted its head and seriously nodded in response to the trainer’s gaze.

As the two exchanged glances, various emotions kept being conveyed.

An observing Baimu suddenly spoke: ”The feeling I had earlier was probably similar to the situation of you communicating with Fraxure now?”

”Huh?”

”I mean, I can simply sense Hydreigon’s emotions and thoughts because I’m familiar enough with it, an understanding accumulated over living and battling together for a long time.”

He continued, ”So it’s probably unrelated to your ability, but a reflection of my bond with Hydreigon.”

Emotionally resonating highly, even sensing chaotic thoughts.

It might have nothing to do with [Dragon’s Heart].

Alice tilted her head, ”Then did you sense it or not?”

”I sensed it.”

”Then it’s fine! Since you already have this feeling, even unfamiliar Pokémon will be able to understand each other’s mood.”

Alice gently stroked Fraxure’s head and earnestly said, ”I’ve actually wanted to say for a long time, what’s important isn’t these strange principles and logic, but the love for Dragon-type Pokémon, the desire to communicate and understand them! The heart is more important than anything!”

”The heart is more important...”

Baimu contemplated and agreed, ”You’re right, I’ve been pondering principles and logic without comprehending the essence of Dragon’s Heart.”

’Wanting to use Dragon’s Heart to accelerate the harmony with new Pokémon.’

This utilitarian thought had made him forget why Alice possessed this power—

Love.

The deep love for Dragon-type Pokémon compelled her to want to understand them, to want to feel their mood, and to meet and know more Dragon-type Pokémon.

This passion.

Perhaps this is a significant reason why Alice possesses this power.

”To forget the most important reason, and yet I can hear Hydreigon’s thoughts, I really don’t know if it’s divine favor or not.”

Baimu smiled helplessly.

Alice blinked, ”It precisely proves your love for Dragon-type Pokémon! At least you have a passion for Hydreigon! Isn’t that right?”

”Rather than saying it’s divine favor, it’s more about the care for Hydreigon of yours, naturally receiving the same caring response from Hydreigon!” She stated solemnly.

”...I’ve learned!”

Baimu said admiringly. As a member of the protagonist group, Alice occasionally speaks like Ash Ketchum, saying something deeply moving.

He smiled, ”Thank you, for providing me with such an unusual experience, and for enlightening me. Maybe in the future, I can truly perceive this magical power.”

”You definitely can! We all love Dragon-type Pokémon so much!”

Alice encouraged him and smiled, ”And I also need to thank you, this battle made me realize my current deficiencies and gaps. Battling against a strong Dragon Tamer was definitely the right thing to do!”

The two chatted and laughed as they returned to the Pokémon Center, handing their injured Pokémon over to Miss Joy for treatment.

After the treatment ended.

They had breakfast together again.

The saying goes, ’no fight, no friendship.’ While Dragonite was certainly a grumpy little fellow, it accepted the loss graciously after being defeated, admitting that Hydreigon was stronger and sharing its food.

Hydreigon was naturally quite aloof, but seeing that Trainer’s relationship with Dragonite was so good, it decided to share its food as well.

The two powerful Dragon-type Pokémon forged a friendship.

Meanwhile.

The altered-color Milotic gained two fanboys.

Fraxure and Gabite’s fondness for it began with its looks and ended with its strength. However, their affection was purely limited to flattering Milotic, without any trace of reproductive desire.

Milotic liked making friends, so naturally, it did not resist the friendly gestures of Fraxure and Gabite, generously accepting their ”offerings” and giving ”rewards.”

”Both sides are exchanging food, why does the atmosphere feel different?”

Alice found it a bit strange.

”Well... it’s a bit complicated to explain,” Baimu smiled, without revealing the truth.

After the meal.

They originally planned to fix up the wrecked venue. Unexpectedly, upon glancing over, the areas bombarded by the Meteor Shower were already filled in, even the turf uplifted by the aftermath had been repaired.

Looking into the distance, Nurse Blissey was humming a happy tune, walking away while holding a shovel and other tools.

”Quite agile.”

Baimu admired its professionalism.

Alice nodded in agreement.

——

The moment of parting arrived.

Upon learning the specific situation at Meteor Falls, Alice still planned to head north, to challenge the formidable Dragon Tamer there, and attempt to capture the powerful Dragon-type Pokémon from Dragon Nest.

But most likely what awaited her were the trio of the Village Protection Team and countless elder dragons.

Baimu planned to head for Mauville City, aiming to complete three Gym Battles and one Gorgeous Competition within two months, to participate in the Mikoli Club and the Battle of the Glazed Gym.

Traveling on foot, the time wasn’t particularly sufficient.

Therefore, when necessary, he would choose to ride a train or fly aboard Hydreigon to travel.

Before the departure.

Baimu downloaded a compass app onto Alice’s phone.

”This is a compass, walking northward absolutely can’t go wrong, this is the map function, don’t forget,” he reminded her, only to find her eyes glazed over, showing a blank expression.

Prompting him to snap his fingers in front of her eyes.

Snap!

”Hey!”

Alice awoke from her daze, hurriedly nodding, ”Huh? Hey! Oh! Okay okay okay!”

”Okay what...”

Baimu sighed with regret, allowing such an unreliable thirteen-year-old to travel the world, only the Pokémon World would allow that.

”Hahaha, it’s okay! When the car reaches the mountain, there will be a road; when the boat reaches the bridge, it goes straight! Even if I get lost, there will surely be a way!” Alice laughed heartily, unworried.

Her carefree appearance left people speechless.

Let go of the need to help, respect others’ destinies.

Baimu took a deep breath, let out a long sigh, and earnestly patted her shoulder, ”Take care.”

”You too! When we meet next time, let’s battle again!”

Alice confidently declared, ”I’ll definitely surprise you!”

”I’ll be looking forward to it.”

He replied.

The two officially waved goodbye.

Then.

”That’s west.”

Baimu stood still, watching the girl stride towards the west, even though he had pointed her in the right direction just a minute ago.

”Ah, wrong way.”

Alice froze, awkwardly turned 180 degrees, and continued walking.

Baimu lowered his head deeply, covering his face, unable to bear watching, ”...the west side flipped is the east side.”

”I-I knew that!”

Embarrassed by his words, Alice’s face turned red, and she finally ran northward at a rather brisk pace, seemingly unwilling to linger slowly.

As she disappeared from view, Baimu withdrew his gaze, preparing to set off.
