System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”Okay, I understand, Dr. Lu.” The young man wasn’t completely clueless and quickly realized that all these were Lu Cheng’s hints.

As the saying goes, it’s better to destroy ten temples than one marriage. How could Lu Cheng intentionally break his marriage?

So everything could only be hinted at, mentioned but not expanded upon.

This includes, but is not limited to, the real reasons for ’infertility’.

When the patient insisted on discharging, Lu Cheng talked to the leadership, involved the safety office, and still, the patient was adamant. The hospital no longer had reason to keep him.

Continuing to prevent the patient from leaving would involve infringing on the patient’s ’personal freedom’!

With the safety office testifying, Lu Cheng and the hospital had fulfilled their final advisory duties. Even if problems arose later, the hospital as a whole, not just Lu Cheng, would bear responsibility.

After the young man left, Lu Cheng thought carefully about what he did today and didn’t set any moral standards for himself.

If the young man hadn’t mentioned infertility, Lu Cheng might not have gotten involved further.

Uninformed ’infertility’ might not be deception, but infertility due to ovary removal is more like ’fraud’ or an alternative type of fraud.

But have I perhaps encountered a few too many ’fraud incidents’?

A ’culprit’ in a serious incident, an injured delivery guy, and then there’s Zhang Xibei.

Oh well, they come from different provinces and regions, so it’s fine.

The day shift in the emergency surgery room is indeed busier than the night shift in the resuscitation room. After all, there’s medical records to write, dressings to change, and doctor’s orders to adjust, while the night shift in the resuscitation room mostly involves sleeping.

By 5:30 PM, yesterday’s day shift ward duty, Deng Duanniu, arrived on time to take over.

”Xiao Lu, is there anything special I should know? If not, you should go rest, you’ve had a long day,” Deng Duanniu politely asked.

”Brother Deng, nothing special, just that the patient in bed 4 who was admitted today signed themselves out against medical advice. I’ve already informed the safety office, and the patient left with their witness.”

”Just letting you know,” Lu Cheng casually reported.

”The patient in bed 2 was just admitted, and I’ve written the admission records and major medical case notes, but I’d like you, Brother Deng, to check the quality of my notes. If there are any issues, I’ll revise them tomorrow myself.”

Deng Duanniu quickly responded, ”No worries, in surgery, we’re not so strict with the quality of records; Director Xiao usually turns a blind eye.”

Lu Cheng quickly asked, ”Brother Deng, did Director Xiao used to be with the internal medicine team?”

Deng Duanniu slowly nodded, ”Director Xiao is quite talented. To reach his current position is all due to himself. If he were slightly less capable, he wouldn’t have had such opportunities.”

”But now, Director Xiao is himself one of the higher-ups.”

Lu Cheng slowly nodded and bid farewell to Deng Duanniu, ”Brother Deng, I’m leaving now, please help take a look.”

”Director Xiao came from internal medicine, so he might have higher standards for medical records.”

Lu Cheng, carrying his backpack, headed towards the surface parking lot—

Lu Cheng had some understanding of Xiao Zhaoxi’s ’background’, and he was acquainted with Mu Leng.

Mu Leng’s original family condition was very ordinary, possibly even slightly worse than Lu Cheng’s current situation; at least Lu Cheng has an uncle at the County Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital.

But Mu Leng and Xiao Zhaoxi really had to rely on themselves when they started out in society.

”...”

Lu Cheng returned to the apartment subleased to him by Mu Nanshu and Mu Leng. He paid a token amount of rent each month; the apartment was located in the Economic Development Zone, with an annual rent totaling 4000 yuan, which was the average price for renting in Ji City.

This price is average for renting in Qianzhou or Ji City’s old town district, but in the Economic Development Zone, it’s a steal.

You could say it saved Uncle Mu Leng some property management fees, giving back just a small amount of benefits.

Unsurprisingly, when Lu Cheng returned home, Mu Nanshu was already in the kitchen.

Of course, Mu Nanshu had only completed washing the vegetables and was clumsily engaging in ”big chunk vegetable chopping”!

Once Lu Cheng returned, he washed his hands and began to help.

It’s not that Mu Nanshu was being fussy on purpose; precise chopping is a meticulous task. Her finger tendons were injured before, making it understandable that she doesn’t do well with fine cuts like julienning potatoes.

After cooking the dishes and serving the rice, two cups of milk tea were also delivered.

When Lu Cheng took the milk tea, he chuckled, ”Did you come over for a meal to avoid your uncle and aunt scolding you for ordering takeout?”

Mu Nanshu sneaked a laugh, ”In their eyes, drinking milk tea is an unhealthy diet, so kind of, yeah.”

”I ordered you a plain tea as well.”

”Oh, by the way, now you’re working the 24-hour shifts; is it tiring?”

Lu Cheng shook his head, ”It’s more relaxed than when I was in Long County. Our emergency surgery mainly focuses on triage and referrals, not treatment.”

”Last night, I slept for six straight hours and could have slept even longer if I hadn’t woken up on my own.”

”That’s great,” Mu Nanshu said.

Lu Cheng’s cooking skills were so poor that even a dog would shake its head, but Mu Nanshu’s culinary skills were quite impressive, refined even.

Lu Cheng gulped down three big bowls of rice before sitting down with Mu Nanshu to watch TV, ”Binge-watching series is so relaxing, huh.”

”But this is like the umpteenth time you’ve watched this series; I nearly remember the plot.”

When this show aired, Lu Cheng hadn’t watched it. At the time, Mu Nanshu had just gone abroad and was still in contact with Lu Cheng. He only watched it the second time around.

But after Mu Nanshu returned, Lu Cheng found that she was still following it.
