System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Du Qiang originally only scheduled one elective surgery, but coincidentally, just as the elective surgery patient was about to enter the operating room, the emergency department came in with an acute splenic rupture patient.

Lu Cheng and Du Qiang were in the office reviewing the CT scan of the elective surgery patient when Zhang Tiesheng, who was on duty in the emergency consultation room, reported the patient’s condition. Du Qiang decisively decided to let Lu Cheng handle the emergency surgery first.

Previously in the department, they did not perform Spleen Preservation Surgery, only performed spleen removal due to lack of authorization. Now that all the authorization procedures are complete, Du Qiang has willingly stepped out of the shadows, naturally no longer hesitating about anything else.

The procedure for emergency surgery is very fast. With no special surgical indicators such as rapid blood draw or ECG check, the patient was pushed into the operating room.

The director of the anesthesiology department, Hou Jiagui, happened to be on duty. Seeing that it was Du Qiang leading the team, his tone tightened considerably: ”Director Du, Xiao Lu, have you both been training with Undercover methods?”

”Some time ago, I thought you, Du Qiang, were about to have a good time.”

Du Qiang helplessly waved his hand: ”Sigh, Old Hou, I had no other way.”

”It’s already been set in the emergency department, and Lu Cheng is our superior unit, so in case of any medical accidents, we have somewhere to seek help.”

”I have come with an olive branch, and only after breaking so many bamboo rods have I earned Expert Lu’s forgiveness.”

”As the saying goes, after a fight, one becomes a better acquaintance, mending the barn after losing sheep, suffering the consequences of one’s own actions.”

”That specifically refers to me.”

Hou Jiagui had already anesthetized the patient, and Zeng Huanqi, along with his team, was disinfecting, while Lu Cheng and Du Qiang were dressing up.

Hou Jiagui, with his hands behind his back, looked at Du Qiang, slightly raising his chin, his gaze serious: ”Do you think I believe or not?”

Du Qiang turned around, looking indifferent: ”Do you think I guess or not?”

It was obvious that Hou Jiagui wasn’t there to question Du Qiang, as he had no such authority, and could only concede: ”Director Du, your ability to win people’s hearts is quite impressive.”

”Xiao Lu, be careful with such an old sly fox,” Hou Jiagui remarked half-jokingly, half-seriously.

Du Qiang continued mysteriously: ”Hey, Director Hou, do you think it’s me winning hearts or Xiao Lu?”

”Huh?” Du Qiang continued lifting his chin.

Hou Jiagui immediately stepped back two steps, looking at Lu Cheng with a startled expression.

If all this was really Lu Cheng’s suggestion, this youngster would be truly terrifying.

It’s not as scary when the old sly fox is ruthless, it’s scarier when a young sly fox lives long.

Lu Cheng joked, ”Director Du, you’re damaging my reputation in public.”

”Might end up in court.”

Du Qiang immediately changed his tune: ”All right, let’s leave court talk aside and get on with the surgery.”

Receiving no direct answer, Hou Jiagui could only continue his work with slight resentment.

In the County Hospital’s anesthesiology department, the associate chief physicians have no assistants and must handle everything by themselves.

This patient was an emergency case, requiring a lot more blood work to be completed.

After the disinfection drape was placed, Lu Cheng and Du Qiang took over the surgical table, though it was mainly Lu Cheng in charge of the surgery.

Opening the abdomen, exposing the spleen, stopping the bleeding, debriding, and other operations were all completed by Lu Cheng with Du Qiang assisting.

Although Lu Cheng has not carried out this type of surgery many times, his skill level is at a specialization standard, with such proficiency that it could be described as pleasing to watch.

While watching, Du Qiang sighed ’falsely’: ”If I had known you had such skills, I should have had you perform this kind of surgery in the department earlier.”

Lu Cheng, hearing Du Qiang’s words, couldn’t quite grasp what Du Qiang meant.

This kind of overly slippery person, indeed eludes Lu Cheng’s control.

Things out of control, Lu Cheng simply didn’t bother to take them to heart.

Hou Jiagui said, ”Director Du, wasn’t it you who refused to let it proceed? Now you’re starting to talk like this?”

”Had you gained this awareness earlier, Expert Lu would still be one of our own in the hospital.”

Du Qiang countered: ”Do you think it was me who refused or someone else?”

”If anyone in the department gets into trouble, the leadership bears joint responsibility. Who do you think is the prim and proper person in the emergency department?”

Hou Jiagui instantly guessed it was Huang Haibo from the internal medicine department, but Huang Haibo’s achievements are truly overwhelming, and involving him in a topic, Hou Jiagui dared not say a single word.

Hou Jiagui also believed that Huang Haibo was capable of doing such things.

Compared to emergency surgery, elective surgery has more meticulousness and detailed procedures.

With emergency surgeries, checks cannot be completed, so everything must be handled with adaptability and according to the principle of treatment.

Elective surgeries are different, with all examinations completed, which allows Lu Cheng to explain the entire procedure to Du Qiang before the surgery, including the general framework plan of the surgery beforehand, aligning with actual operations.

Of course, it can’t be perfectly precise to the centimeter or millimeter, specific subtle practical operations are still made adaptable during surgery.

Even so, observing such elective surgeries is more beneficial for Du Qiang to understand the surgical process itself.

Zeng Huanqi was also in the assistant position, watching Lu Cheng’s operations meticulously and seriously.

Feeling both incredulous and amused, he asked, ”Xiao Lu, a few days ago, I asked Brother Zhang why with your good technique, he doesn’t want to learn?”

Zhang Tiesheng had a ”dream,” usually not guided by the final purpose.

He learns methods and basic skills, not specific surgical routines.

Lu Cheng said, ”Maybe Brother Zhang has other things to do, I’m not sure. Anyway, whether it’s Brother Zeng or Director Du, I’m always willing to exchange and discuss with you, learning from each other.”
