System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”Look at these, just a sentence to gloss over it. Things like anti-inflammatory, pain relief, and anti-swelling symptomatic support treatment.”

”There’s no mention of the type of medication, drug names, dosage, or usage in the medical records.”

”The most standard usage should be something like, ’Cefuroxime 0.75g IVGTT q8h...’”

Xiao Zhaoxi routinely said, ”Alright, alright, that’s actually how I instructed, but the subordinates always say they’re too busy.”

”That’s how it’s reflected in the medical orders.”

Tan Hongdong scratched his head and joked, ”Surgery usually has these habits; they verbally agree well but rarely correct it.”

”Mainly because they’re too busy, either busy with surgeries, rushing for rescues, or they’re on rotation off.”

Yao Xin, the Deputy Dean of Surgery accompanying this inspection, also helped by saying, ”Leader, the time for writing surgical medical records is relatively fragmented. If there are many surgeries scheduled, it’s really not always feasible to make it so meticulous.”

”However, we will definitely strengthen supervision in the future and strive to standardize the writing of medical records.”

”You guys.” Yao Xin’s explanation was sincere, but Yao Xin’s PUA was also real.

After all, Yao Xin is a leader; when he wrote medical records, he also simplified where possible.

But after becoming a leader, he expects his subordinates to write medical records even better than Internal Medicine.

These are generally the issues that can be found in surgical medical records.

As for the surgical records, as long as there’s no error in the procedure, administrative people can’t find any issues, let alone the leaders of the Health Committee.

In reality, these leaders aren’t primarily concerned about this.

Chen Xiuhua and the others pretended for a while and then picked up the handwritten Death Case Discussion Records.

Seeing this, Xiao Zhaoxi became slightly nervous.

This inspection came with a purpose, and it was pre-announced.

Chen Xiuhua and others slowly looked through some handwritten materials.

The Deputy Director of the Medical Department of the hospital, Peng Jianfei, took the opportunity to say, ”Director Zeng, look, your Internal Medicine medical records are much more complete.”

”Each medication, not only has the dosage and usage, but even the specific reasons are so detailed, practical, and appropriate.”

”If this were taken out, even if a medical dispute arises, it’s substantiated.”

”Swelling occurs, then treat swelling. If certain indicators are high, certain situations are considered, so symptomatic medication is used.”

”This is truly symptomatic treatment...” Peng Jianfei instructed Xiao Zhaoxi in a reprimanding tone.

Xiao Zhaoxi nodded, ”Yes, Director Peng, medical record writing should be like this.”

”Did you all hear that?” Xiao Zhaoxi scolded Lu Cheng and others.

When it’s time to play along, you have to play along. After an inspection, if no issues are found, it means the leadership is incompetent.

Find a little problem of yours, and everyone just gets through it.

And no one refuted.

...

At 10:15, Chen Xiuhua closed the Death Case Discussion Records, which she was more concerned with, and said, ”Director Xiao, is this month’s Death Case Discussion Records missing, forgotten to be written, or are they all truthfully recorded?”

”Why do I see that this month’s thickness is much less compared to last month’s in terms of month-on-month comparison?”

Without hesitation, Xiao Zhaoxi replied, ”Director Chen, the Death Case Discussion system is one of our hospital’s most basic systems, and it’s absolutely impossible to omit.”

If the Death Case Discussion Records aren’t accurate, no matter which department finds this, the entire hospital would have to undergo rectification for a long time, and it might even be publicly criticized across the entire State!

The internal consequences, dismissing a couple of deputy deans would be immediate.

Birth and death numbers are the cornerstone of the most fundamental data of medical institutions and must not be messed with.

Chen Xiuhua nodded, ”Then Director Xiao, have you internally analyzed the specific reasons?”

Xiao Zhaoxi said, ”Director Chen, Dean Yao, to be honest, our emergency department is quite busy on a daily basis. We’re more focused on doing a good job with rescues and saving more people.”

”So the review of these data hasn’t been done so meticulously.”

Chen Xiuhua said, ”Director Xiao, you couldn’t possibly have only started paying attention to rescue work this month, right? It’s your fundamental work.”

”I also believe that every member of our emergency department has been dedicated and responsible all along.”

Xiao Zhaoxi smiled, ”Of course, Director Chen, we’ve never dared to slack off.”

”Therefore, after receiving feedback from the leadership, our department immediately worked overtime to analyze these data, and we eventually found that the results were due to some minor factors from the surgical side.”

Chen Xiuhua also pretended not to know the specific statistical data: ”Surgical factors? For example?”

”I mean, Director Xiao, if you have any good ideas, such as shifts, work allocation, or other small techniques, you can document them in a report.”

”If it can be promoted, it would be significant.”

The proposal Chen Xiuhua offered was substantial, but Xiao Zhaoxi wanted no part of it, quickly shaking his head, ”Director Chen, there’s no special technique, just individual capability.”

”In fact, we have to thank the leaders of the Health Committee.”

”I’m sure the leaders are adept at analyzing data, so they should be able to see that the surgical death toll decreased significantly this month.”

”The reason is that during last year’s talent selection, the leaders of the Health Committee brought Dr. Lu Cheng to us.”

Chen Xiuhua was not satisfied with this answer, ”Director Xiao, are you joking with me?”

It’s not that Chen Xiuhua needed this, but Xiangzhou currently needs it.
