System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Xiao Zhaoxi said, ”Director Chen, how could we possibly joke about this?”

”If you take a closer look, you’ll find that the number of patients who died from shock due to arterial trauma has decreased by at least nearly one quarter, about twenty-five percent.”

”Based on the time of death, you can see that it coincides with Dr. Lu Cheng’s shifts.”

”To be honest, Director Chen, Dr. Lu Cheng’s hemostasis skill level is somewhat unbelievable, which is why I said it’s all thanks to the leadership.”

Chen Xiuhua turned to ask, ”Who is Dr. Lu Cheng?”

Lu Cheng stepped out from the crowd, his voice calm, ”Director Chen, I am Lu Cheng from the Emergency Surgery Department.”

”Is Director Xiao pushing you forward as a shield?” Chen Xiuhua asked very directly.

Lu Cheng calmly replied, ”I wouldn’t dare, Director Chen.”

Chen Xiuhua’s voice was stern, ”So you mean to say that your hemostasis technique is superior to the others in your department? That your personal ability is superior?”

Lu Cheng would never be misled by Chen Xiuhua: ”Not at all, Director Chen, other teachers also have their own areas of expertise.”

”I have relatively shallow experience and have done fewer surgeries, so I can only solidify some basic skills.”

”But I handle debridement, suturing, and hemostasis within my capacity, not daring to be negligent.”

Chen Xiuhua asked, ”Is being diligent so excellent that it creates a barrier of ability?”

Lu Cheng laughed and said, ”Director Chen, thanks to the guidance of the leaders, my basic operations are quite good. Last year, I even won several first prizes in the provincial microsurgery skills competition.”

Lu Cheng’s words left Xiao Zhaoxi and others slightly stunned, as the people in the emergency department of the State People’s Hospital wouldn’t blindly participate in any microsurgery skills competition.

However, Yao Xin had heard that someone in the State had won a first prize, but at the time he was not familiar with Lu Cheng, so he didn’t know it was Lu Cheng who won.

With so many clinical matters, who would pay attention to these honorary titles? Do you really think it’s like in TV dramas where people in the hospital have nothing to do and are always talking about love, getting angry, or entangled?

To put it bluntly, when a colleague’s parents pass away, unless the relationship is particularly good, it’s just about pitching in money and offering some comforting pleasantries, not much empathy involved.

Sometimes, when busy, some people can’t even find the time to pitch in. They can only send it through their phones or have someone deliver it.

Vice President Yao Xin quickly said, ”Director Chen, in last year’s provincial microsurgery skills competition, our State’s Dr. Lu indeed won the first prize.”

”And he won first prizes in multiple categories. This is certified and announced.”

Chen Xiuhua turned to ask a member of his brought office team, who replied in a low voice, ”Heard about such a thing, but it’s not someone from Ji City, it’s someone from a county below.”

The Medical Administration and Management Department only conducts medical quality inspections, not responsible for statistics on excellence rates and awards. But such a ”peculiar” award has been a talking point for a while.

Yao Xin continued, ”Director Chen, this provincial young physician competition included participants not limited to associate chief physicians from our prefecture-level hospital; even associate professors from several Xiangya hospitals participated.”

”First prize is awarded to the top two or three performers.”

It’s impossible to fake such a thing, and Lu Cheng can’t randomly claim honors.

With Lu Cheng winning a provincial award, it’s reasonable for his basic operations to surpass others at the State People’s Hospital.

Of course, after Lu Cheng mentioned this, many in the department looked at Lu Cheng with surprise.

Lu Cheng has always been a low-key person, always honest and well-behaved.

He only does what is within his responsibilities and doesn’t like to show off.

Even if Lu Cheng’s undergraduate degree is the best in the department, he only brings it up casually when someone asks him.

”So, can these skills be passed on?” As a leader, Chen Xiuhua actually dislikes personal abilities standing out.

He needs reproducible experience or other things that can bring them more benefits and rewards.

Lu Cheng said, ”Director Chen, to be honest, I haven’t been a teacher, but my teacher said that the hemostasis technique depends on personal talent.”

”It’s also about perseverance.”

”From the beginning of learning basic skills, I’ve been diligent and persistent, keeping at it for nearly a decade without any shortcuts.”

Lu Cheng’s words were utterly honest, though he kept his modesty.

Ten years!

Whether or not Chen Xiuhua is still in his current position, whether the current leaders are still in their original positions, is hard to say.

It’s not even guaranteed they can learn it, requiring certain qualifications.

So what would be promoted?

Chen Xiuhua sighed internally but as a leader, he absolutely cannot let the conversation go cold: ”Hmm, so we should continue to engage more with frontline medical staff.”

”Otherwise, we wouldn’t have known that Dr. Lu, you are such an expert.”

”Winning a first prize at the provincial competition is indeed a rare accomplishment.”

”Has our State Hospital ever had such an honor before?”

Yao Xin and Jia Qidao both shook their heads: ”Director Chen, it’s not possible!~ We’ve never won before, the highest was a second prize, and that was only due to the age advantage.”

Chen Xiuhua was also an astute person: ”Then why have I not heard of Lu Cheng being mentioned as an outstanding employee or an advanced individual in your department?”

Since these achievements can’t be replicated, they are indeed real achievements, beneficial to patients and society.

Yao Xin hurriedly said, ”Director Chen, Dr. Lu is a recruited talent, only joined the department this month.”

”We haven’t had the opportunity yet.”

”Evaluations for excellence occur mid-year or at the end of the year; we can’t evaluate him before he’s even started, right?”

Chen Xiuhua said, ”Such an outstanding Dr. Lu, let’s all applaud him together!~”

”We hope Dr. Lu, you can continue to uphold your personal abilities and bring more benefits to our people.”

”Utilizing your skills steadily to save more patients.”

Lu Cheng nodded, ”Will do my best...”

”Director Chen, how should the report be written?” someone beside Chen Xiuhua asked softly.

Chen Xiuhua said, ”Write it truthfully...”
