System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”Teacher Chen, when do you plan to go to Long County? Before or after the New Year?” At the dinner, Lu Cheng asked about Chen Song’s plans.

Since October 1st, Chen Song had been in Ji City, undergoing four months of preparation. Although he wasn’t much ahead of Tong Yuan’an in terms of project progress, he had completed some data collection.

Now that he had obtained the authority for clinical surgery, Chen Song would routinely lead a team to be stationed in the emergency department of Long County People’s Hospital for the ’clinical project’ of Spleen Preservation Surgery!

The subsequent animal experiments in Ji City would continue, but it would be his students collecting the animal experiment data.

Animal experiments are allowed to fail and have a higher tolerance for error, but not Spleen Preservation Surgery on patients, so Chen Song must lead the team with a senior attending from Xiangya Second Hospital stationed at Long County People’s Hospital.

Chen Song, not having drunk, was clear-headed: ”There are more than twenty days until the New Year; how could I postpone until after?”

”The latest I’ll go after the fifteenth, have a drink with Tong Yuan’an, and then head to Long County.”

”Anyway, I’ve scheduled with Director Du Qiang around the sixteenth or seventeenth of the lunar month. That would be around the 26th or 27th.”

Now it’s January 20th, and Lu Cheng’s initial time set to go to Long County was the 23rd or 24th.

At the dinner, Chen Song picked apart the corresponding techniques of Liver Preservation Surgery gossiped about by Mu Nanshu and Xie Yuan’an.

Zhang Xibei, feeling immense pressure, scratched his head and said, ”Professor Chen, if you leave, it will be hard for me to manage here, right?”

”Your two students might not be able to handle the model, right? Should we delay a little bit?”

”Also, Dr. Lu has proposed new requirements, and I’m afraid it might affect the progress of the project group.”

When Zhang Xibei first joined the group, he had some confidence.

But after being in for so long, progress was slow, and he felt like he was the one dragging behind, which began to make Zhang Xibei feel the pressure.

Mainly, he thought Lu Cheng’s output speed was too fast.

Chen Song looked at Zhang Xibei and said, ”Xibei, don’t feel pressured either. Our follow-up topics can be done slowly. It can take half a year, a year.”

”No rush, these topics are long-term plans, not short-term projects that can be rushed in a month or two.”

Zhang Xibei said, ”That’s true, Professor Chen. Because of my limited ability, I’m afraid of affecting the project’s normal progress.”

”You know, the project’s further progress is stuck on my step, so I brought in an external support.”

”I was thinking, maybe you could stay another half month, and go to Long County after the New Year. My classmate and I could see if we could make the animal model of spleen rupture within half a month.”

”If we can, we can also accompany you to Long County, Professor Chen.”

Chen Song was momentarily stunned, ”What’s your classmate’s name?”

”Ni Xixin. Maybe you don’t know her, Professor Chen, but Lu Cheng and Mu Nanshu do,” Zhang Xibei replied.

Zhang Xibei wanted to achieve something.

Lu Cheng and Mu Nanshu exchanged a glance, everything unspoken.

Lu Cheng’s idea was correct; actually, the gossip about Liver Preservation Surgery by Mu Nanshu and Xie Yuan’an was not intentionally aimed at Chen Song, but Chen Song was indirectly affected.

But the junior, Ni Xixin, from Mu Nanshu, was an effective assistant that Lu Cheng and Mu Nanshu originally wanted to ’recruit.’

Because Spleen Preservation Surgery mainly had spleen removal surgery as a lifesaving indication, it might not attract the most cutting-edge researchers, but Liver Preservation Surgery had that potential.

But actually, Chen Song knew about Ni Xixin, and having mingled in society for so long, he could certainly see Lu Cheng and Mu Nanshu’s little schemes at a glance.

These two didn’t reveal their true intentions to him, this mixing of truth and falsehood caught him by surprise: ”That’s fine, anyway, delaying the clinical project a bit more would indeed be more thorough!”

Lu Cheng then smilingly invited, ”Brother Zhang, Teacher Chen, everyone, help yourselves to the dishes.”

After speaking, Lu Cheng turned his head and began to blame Mu Nanshu: ”Told you to talk here and there, I didn’t want to tell Teacher Chen these things to avoid affecting the normal operations of the project group.”

”I was able to make connections with the National Health Commission and Professor Lu in Kyoto to save time for the project group, and now you spoke about it?”

”What if it affects Xiao Ni’s normal work?”

Zhang Xibei might have considered that Lu Cheng’s release of Liver Preservation Surgery was with ulterior motives, but he didn’t particularly want to think that way.

After all, Lu Cheng wasn’t someone who bragged, and the experiences he went through were real.

Lu Cheng would recommend himself to top experts, which was within reason.

Immediately, Zhang Xibei replied, ”Lu Cheng, if you have other arrangements for this Liver Preservation Surgery project, I won’t let my classmate come.”

To Zhang Xibei, being able to do more projects was certainly a good thing, but to Lu Cheng, if he could use this project to draw in better connections, it was even more beneficial for Lu Cheng.

It’s just that, although Lu Cheng failed to win over, Zhang Xibei was well aware of the prospects of the Liver Preservation Surgery project and secretly first told Ni Xixin about it.

Those who truly understand research are certainly very interested in this kind of original work.

It can be said that those who can truly make research achievements are those who take unconventional paths, rather than following the rules and doing routine projects.

Lu Cheng said, ”Brother Zhang, it’s not about handing it to someone else, I’m just afraid of affecting your normal work.”

”As I just said, I wanted to build relationships, but the big boss didn’t want to pay attention to me!”
