System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Lu Cheng didn’t add any embellishments.

Lu Cheng’s specialty during his residency training was trauma surgery. After completing his training, he did apply to the State People’s Hospital. Lu Cheng remembered that year the application requirement for the State People’s Hospital was a bachelor’s degree.

It was only after passing the preliminary test that he realized the hospital had set the requirement at a bachelor’s degree merely to gather more applicants, as they had already earmarked several master’s degree holders for the positions.

And that master’s degree holder was someone they had to eliminate in their talent introduction policy.

Wu Xiang looked at Lu Cheng carefully: ”So where did you go?”

”I went to Long County, and only returned this year after the selection exams.” Lu Cheng replied naturally.

After speaking, Lu Cheng pointed towards the surgical field: ”Teacher, let’s start the surgery first; I’m doing quite well in the emergency department.”

Lu Cheng wasn’t a scoundrel; he didn’t enjoy managing multiple commitments or the state of being fought over.

Clearly expressing his intentions can avoid many misunderstandings.

Director Wu Xiang didn’t say much more; Lu Cheng had come once but wasn’t selected, and now he doesn’t want to come, saying more would be futile.

However, the remaining part of the surgery wasn’t something Wu Xiang could handle solo.

Wu Xiang immediately called people from the general surgery and vascular surgery departments to quickly come over and handle the specialized issues.

After completing the hemostasis procedure, Lu Cheng did not cause any unnecessary trouble and diligently fulfilled his role as an assistant.

Whatever Director Wu Xiang asked, Lu Cheng answered truthfully; after all, Director Wu Xiang’s questions were merely regarding Lu Cheng’s educational background, graduation school, and such.

About half an hour later, Xiao Zhaoxi walked in from outside, glanced at the scene on stage, and smilingly said: ”Director Wu, you’ve handled this so quickly, your speed is truly impressive.”

”Then I’ll take our Xiao Lu from the department away now.”

Wu Xiang had already asked and learned that Lu Cheng was currently employed in the emergency department, so he said: ”Director Xiao, your Xiao Lu is quite a pro.”

”This patient has stabilized so quickly thanks to your Xiao Lu from the department.”

”Director Xiao, you’ve taught well.”

Xiao Zhaoxi glanced at Lu Cheng; he had anticipated Lu Cheng’s abilities, but currently, he was about to leave the State People’s Hospital and really didn’t want Lu Cheng to create any issues with audacity in the department.

”Director Wu, Xiao Lu has only been here for a little over twenty days. What could I have taught him? It’s all his own learning.”

”If it weren’t the case, I wouldn’t have urgently called him to help out. Anyway, as long as there’s no trouble for Director Wu, it’s all good.”

Wu Xiang’s actions paused slightly, and he generously said: ”Director Xiao, I just got a bit cross with him, and my words might have been thoughtless. Here, in front of you, I apologize to Xiao Lu.”

”But my intention wasn’t to personally attack.” Wu Xiang’s tone was gentle.

Lu Cheng laughed: ”Director Wu, it’s okay. The situation at the time didn’t give me a chance to explain.”

Wu Xiang chuckled softly: ”With skills like yours, if you could explain them simply, they wouldn’t be called a secret technique.”

”Secret techniques are not to be shared.”

”Not easily understandable or explainable.”

Xiao Zhaoxi roughly understood Wu Xiang’s meaning and led Lu Cheng out the door. On their way out, he patted Lu Cheng on the shoulder: ”Lucky for me that you’re staying put, or I wouldn’t know how many arguments I’d have with the surgical department heads.”

”Fall for one, and what should I do?” Xiao Zhaoxi’s tone was evidently joking.

And in reverse, it’s not that Lu Cheng falls for one, but rather, anyone who meets Lu Cheng once ends up liking him. Different individuals, but Xiao Zhaoxi couldn’t be bothered to fend off so many.

”Director Xiao, I can refuse myself.” Lu Cheng replied calmly.

Xiao Zhaoxi thought for a moment and said: ”As a doctor, prioritizing stability is key, ensuring the patient’s life is the priority!”

”Only on this basis can we strive to offer better treatment to the patient.”

”The surgeries you’re contemplating, Mu Nanshu has mentioned to me as well, are good but not the optimal solutions for our hospital at the moment.”

”These surgeries’ real clinical risks haven’t been fully assessed. If you rush in and end up causing the death of a patient who could’ve been saved,”

”Even if just one case occurs, you’d face considerable trouble.”

Lu Cheng understood Xiao Zhaoxi’s point, and it’s the fundamental reason he wasn’t in a hurry.

Without clinical project approval and new surgical technique permissions, even if Lu Cheng successfully preserved the spleen in 999 cases, failure in one could get him ’nailed’ by the family!

The survival probability of splenectomy has been confirmed by history and numerous peers: why not directly remove the spleen?

Is saving a life more important or saving the spleen?

Any explanation by Lu Cheng would be futile!

Then it would truly exceed the bounds of professional practice.

Before anything happens, before the patient suffers harm, things remain uncomplicated, and everyone can turn a blind eye.

But once something goes wrong, the scrutiny intensifies.

Lu Cheng then said: ”Director Xiao, the Hemostasis Technique can be justly applied in clinical practice, right?”

Xiao Zhaoxi said: ”Naturally, for arterial hemorrhage, regardless of who handles it, there’s always a certain mortality rate, only varying in degree.”

”Higher mortality rates for certain conditions grant wider latitude for individual skill variation; whether it’s a fresh young doctor or a seasoned head, either can fail in resuscitation!”

”And experienced department heads might also fail in resuscitation.”

”Let’s go, we’ll visit room 8 together, the patient there isn’t simple either.” Xiao Zhaoxi returned to the proper topic.

Outside the operating room, Lu Cheng washed his hands anew and followed behind Xiao Zhaoxi.

After several steps, Xiao Zhaoxi suddenly asked Lu Cheng: ”Is hemostasis without visual aid really unable to be taught?”

Doctors at Long County People’s Hospital basically don’t consider learning hemostasis without visual aid, but in tiered city hospitals, a few heads possess such capability, drawing much admiration.
