System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”How did you know I was looking at this?”

Spicy home party isn’t packaged food; it’s a popular local shop in Sha City, not an enterprise product, so you can’t find it outside the area.

Lu Cheng said, ”Guess?”

”Did you sneak a peek?” Mu Nanshu quickly grabbed the spicy squid and spicy beef.

”Let’s eat at home today,” Mu Nanshu said.

Seeing Mu Nanshu’s naive yet greedy look, Lu Cheng replied, ”Of course... This can count as two dishes!~”

After getting in the passenger seat, Mu Nanshu hurriedly opened the packaging and fed a piece of beef to Lu Cheng with a toothpick: ”How does it taste?”

”A bit spicy, but pretty good. A little numbing,” Lu Cheng commented while chewing.

While eating, Mu Nanshu said, ”Director Xiao came to my house last night. He spoke very highly of you to my dad.”

Lu Cheng’s voice was calm: ”Really? I haven’t had the chance to show off my skills yet.”

Mu Nanshu gave Lu Cheng a sidelong glance: ”It was normal for Director Xiao not to pay attention to you before; now that you’re in his department, if he still didn’t pay attention and research you, he’d be crazy, right?”

”He knows nearly everything about you.”

”But that’s a good thing. Translating how impressive you are through his words, my dad will trust it more.”

”Nowadays, they see everything I say with tinted glasses, thinking I’m deliberately praising you.”

Lu Cheng asked anxiously, ”Is Uncle angry? Last time I ditched him while we were drinking.”

Mu Leng, who often stayed in Ji City, loved drinking.

Whenever Lu Cheng wasn’t on duty, he’d get invited over by Mu Leng.

One noon, Lu Cheng was also invited to drink, which Mu Nanshu didn’t know. He called Lu Cheng to the lab, interrupting the drinking session.

”My dad thinks you’re a bit slick. He even asked me if you’re slick-tongued when you’re with me,” Mu Nanshu said.

”And what did you say?” Lu Cheng asked while scanning a code for payment.

”I said you’re exactly that, a slick-tongued person,” Mu Nanshu emphasized.

Lu Cheng solemnly said, ”You’re right, after all, you’re the one who’s experienced it.”

Mu Nanshu was sweating a bit from eating: ”See? I don’t even need to say it, do I?”

”Director Xiao might be going to the Provincial People’s Hospital,” Mu Nanshu suddenly said.

Upon hearing this, Lu Cheng paused inwardly, but soon realized, ”That’s good news.”

”Everyone in the department says Director Xiao is very capable, skilled in both internal and external medicine.”

”Director Xiao is one of the few people with licenses in both internal and external medicine.”

It’s natural for Xiao Zhaoxi, who went from the county to the state, to consider moving to a hospital at the provincial level.

The Provincial People’s Hospital is the fourth-largest hospital in Xiang Province, and many people are eager to get in.

”Mainly because after Director Xiao goes to the Provincial People’s Hospital, his grandson can choose any school, and his son doesn’t need to buy a house in a school district.”

”After hearing this, my dad is planning to buy a house in Han City again,” Mu Nanshu said.

Lu Cheng was silent for a moment before saying with a sigh, ”So, how much debt do I owe now?”

Truth be told, something Mu Nanshu said in the past was quite correct.

Someday, everything Mu Leng has will go to Lu Cheng and Mu Nanshu. As long as Mu Leng doesn’t mess around, they won’t have financial worries.

Millions in liquid assets aren’t a small amount.

Many people across the country can come up with millions in cash, but not that many. And that’s not counting real estate and other assets.

”Wasn’t Uncle Mu planning to start a hotpot restaurant back in Long County? Any progress?” Lu Cheng asked.

”That was just a spur-of-the-moment decision they had a while back. The restaurant opened, but the business wasn’t good, so they came back.”

”They handed it all over to the employees,” Mu Nanshu said.

”It means they’re giving it a year, and if it doesn’t work, they’ll drop it. Just treating it as an investment.”

Lu Cheng nodded: ”Well, it depends on Uncle and Aunt’s own wishes.”

”When it comes to doing business, we’re no match for them.”

”But one thing, I suggest you persuade Uncle Mu to quit smoking. From last time’s health check, if I saw correctly, he has small nodules in his lungs, although they’re currently classified as grade 2.”

”But it’s still better to quit.”

Mu Nanshu’s face changed: ”Nodules? Why wasn’t it written on the report?”

Lu Cheng replied, ”They’re not typical nodules and are rather hidden, so the unit doing the checkup might not have a professional radiologist reading the films.”

”I saw it by accident during a conversation last time and hadn’t figured out how to say it, so I’m telling you first.”

”Of course, I secretly took a picture and pondered over it for a long time. During my recent workshop in Sha City, I consulted with a professor from the radiology department at Xiangya Hospital.”

”Only after fully confirming did I dare make the suggestion.”

Peer review is essential; without it showing on the health check report, Lu Cheng wouldn’t speak recklessly, even though his CT film-reading skills are quite advanced. But after all, Lu Cheng isn’t a professional radiologist.

”Okay, I’ll go back and tell him later,” Mu Nanshu nodded decisively.

When it comes to health, Mu Nanshu wouldn’t dare be careless.

…

In the evening, Lu Cheng still had dinner with Mu Nanshu alone, because Lu Cheng had to be on duty the next day, so he couldn’t stay back for drinks with Mu Leng even if he went home.

After dinner, when Mu Nanshu called Mu Leng, he was playing chess at the chess association, while Aunt Yan Sangyue was doing square dancing.

Of course, upon hearing what Mu Nanshu had to say, Yan Sangyue stopped dancing and immediately called Mu Leng, wanting to go to the hospital with him right away.
