System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”Could it be malign?” Mu Nanshu was a bit worried after hanging up the phone.

Lu Cheng said, ”No way! It’s not always malignant if there are nodules, but lifestyle habits must be controlled!”

About two hours later, while Lu Cheng and Mu Nanshu were sorting out project data in the study, Lu Cheng’s phone rang.

The person on duty for the second-line shift at the State People’s Hospital ER today was Director Xiao Zhaoxi. Possibly, Mu Leng went to the hospital for an X-ray, and it was Xiao Zhaoxi he found.

”Lu Cheng, where exactly is the nodule on Mu Leng’s chest?” Xiao Zhaoxi’s tone was somewhat peculiar.

”It’s near the base segment of the left lower lobe of the lung, with two nodules approximately 3mm in diameter, showing ground glass opacity.” Lu Cheng replied accurately.

Xiao Zhaoxi was originally a doctor in internal medicine and quickly found the location, ”Is this the nodule?”

”Yeah, I was just speculating at first, but during my visit to Sha City, I specifically consulted Professor Zhou from the Imaging Department and Professor Yuan from the Respiratory Medicine Department at Xiangya Second Hospital.”

”They both said it’s classified as type 2 and currently only needs follow-up examinations.” Lu Cheng stated:

”Director Xiao, did Uncle Mu and the others come to you too?”

”Yes, now they’ve started to question my skills. Fine, let’s leave it at that.” Xiao Zhaoxi distanced the phone.

The unit hung up promptly: ”Found it, indeed there is a nodule, a very difficult to detect one.”

”Your son-in-law has something, huh?”

”You can’t gauge his true abilities until the crucial moment.”

The voice was loud, but Lu Cheng hung up the call voluntarily.

Mu Nanshu was visualizing the experimental data but then said, ”It would be nice to have a statistics master or a guru from the math or computer science department to help.”

”The data they handle would look much better.”

Lu Cheng listened and tilted his head, ”Can those from the math and computer science departments process our medical research data?”

Mu Nanshu said, ”Not really, you still need some medical background, otherwise the data they process is only good to look at and not practical.”

”I don’t have anyone on my side, otherwise we had a classmate named Zhang Tao, you know him, right? He graduated from the math department at Nanda University and went to study in the computer science department at Kyoto University.”

”We’re still in touch!”

Mu Nanshu said, ”Of course I remember; if it were useful, I would have reached out to him long ago.”

”Let’s just grind through it ourselves.”

Both Lu Cheng and Mu Nanshu were part of an exceptionally high-achieving group, and the circle of high achievers was relatively fixed, even after graduation they kept in touch.

Lu Cheng and Zhang Tao both had chances to pursue a bachelor’s degree at Qingbei.

Of course, Lu Cheng went to Han City University and Zhang Tao went to Nanda University, their grades weren’t bad, and without the Qingbei obsession, they could move on directly.

As soon as their conversation ended, Lu Cheng’s phone rang again.

It was from Kyoto; Lu Cheng looked at the note and walked out of the study, ”Hello, Teacher Xiao!”

Xiao Mingqi said, ”What’s the deal with the video you sent me? Professor Lu is asking me to find you immediately.”

”He said it’s best to find you right away.”

”I totally didn’t get it.”

Lu Cheng didn’t know any Professor Lu, but he had indeed sent Xiao Mingqi a video. The video’s content was related to the Liver Preservation Surgery.

Currently, at the State People’s Hospital, Lu Cheng hadn’t even secured permissions for Spleen Preservation Surgery and, having nothing else to do, just recorded a video in the Training Room and sent it to Xiao Mingqi.

After all, Xiao Mingqi had mentioned he’d recommend Lu Cheng, so Lu Cheng had some expectations and didn’t agree at the time.

”Teacher Xiao, it’s just a normal technical practice method. Did Professor Lu find it acceptable?” Lu Cheng asked.

”Not just acceptable, he’s asking about your details, but I haven’t decided whether to give them to him.”

”I’m not afraid he’ll harm you; Professor Lu is a very upright professor, very few can exploit inside connections with him.”

”But this time? Seems completely different.”

”His eagerness must mean something significant...”

Lu Cheng said, ”Teacher Xiao, would you mind giving me Professor Lu’s contact details? I’ll call him directly.”

”If convenient, thank you very much, Teacher Xiao.”

Xiao Mingqi thought for a moment, ”Consideration is good, since it’s convenient for you, I’ll give you his number.”

Lu Cheng soon received a phone number.

Lu Cheng dialed it, got rejected twice, and was finally connected on the third attempt in an ongoing call. A somewhat displeased middle-aged voice with a stiff tone came from the other end, ”Hello? Who is this?”

”Teacher Lu, the video was sent by me through Teacher Xiao Mingqi; it’s mainly for you to help me verify whether the operation is compliant.” Lu Cheng explained immediately, fearing the other party might hang up.

Lu Cheng revealed many key points, Xiao Mingqi, video.

The person addressed as Professor Lu immediately turned off the silencer, becoming gentle and friendly, ”Oh, you sent the video? What’s your name?”

”Teacher Lu, my name is Lu Cheng, ’Lu’ as in land, ’Cheng’ as in success.” Lu Cheng introduced himself.

”You sent me this video intending to discuss it, right?”

”Are you available now? If so, why not come to Kyoto for a visit?” Professor Lu’s voice was enticing.

Lu Cheng honestly replied, ”Teacher Lu, actually it was Teacher Xiao who said he’d recommend a senior to me, who could apply for some surgical authorizations.”

”So, I forwarded it to him, so...” Lu Cheng hesitated.

Professor Lu remained silent for a while, ”Which institution are you with now?”

”Xiang Province, Xiangzhou People’s Hospital.” Lu Cheng named a facility unfamiliar to Professor Lu, who had never heard of it.

”What surgical privileges are you seeking?” Professor Lu asked.

Lu Cheng replied, ”New surgical techniques, no specific restrictions on the procedures.”

At this moment, Mu Nanshu happened to come out for water and overheard the conversation between Lu Cheng and Professor Lu, looking puzzled but not interrupting Lu Cheng.

She just moved closer in Lu Cheng’s direction.

Lu Cheng gestured her to stay quiet.

Professor Lu said, ”Are you joking with me?”

Lu Cheng replied, ”Teacher Lu, of course not. I have some other videos over here, you might understand after watching them.”

”Just send them over. I’ll think about it.” Professor Lu said.
