System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

After Lu Cheng finished speaking, he saw Xie Yuan’an returning from Tong Yuan’an’s project group, and said, ”Gossip Sister is here.”

”Who’s Gossip Sister? Who’s Gossip Sister?” Xie Yuan’an immediately got a bit annoyed.

Lu Cheng lowered his voice, speaking with a sneaky tone: ”Let me tell you, it’s Professor Chen Song.”

After speaking, Lu Cheng paused and gestured Xie Yuan’an over.

Xie Yuan’an predictably stopped being angry and leaned in to hear the gossip.

As Xie Yuan’an leaned in, Lu Cheng looked at Mu Nanshu: ”See? I think Professor Chen’s nickname for Sister Xie is quite fitting.”

”The Prying Eyes.”

Xie Yuan’an realized she was being tricked and was about to lash out, but then noticed Mu Nanshu nodding gently. Her tone immediately softened: ”Yes, back when we were abroad, Sister Xie was like this, let me tell you.”

”Sister Xie not only loves listening to other people’s gossip but is especially interested in gossip about those who admire her. I heard once...”

”Ah!” Mu Nanshu suddenly yelped.

It turned out Xie Yuan’an had pinched her waist.

Lu Cheng immediately straightened his expression, speaking seriously: ”Well, Sister Xie, back to business. Our project’s progress is almost there too.”

”You can go back to work on the clinical project.”

Xie Yuan’an said, ”Are you two having an affair? Just trying to kick me out?”

With arms crossed and a loose tongue, Xie Yuan’an said: ”I didn’t stop you from doing your work, did I?”

”The project needs to be done, and I need to give Professor Zhong and the others an answer. If you don’t go back to work on it, who will?” Lu Cheng asked earnestly.

”That’s none of my business...”

”Xiao Mumu...” Xie Yuan’an pitifully looked at Mu Nanshu.

Mu Nanshu, still in pain, gave Xie Yuan’an a glance: ”I need to get revenge.”

Xie Yuan’an immediately realized they were showering affection, promptly turned around, and raised her voice: ”Ugh, you two just hurry back and be lovey-dovey…”

Lu Cheng stood up: ”So, Book Bag, shall we take it as being honored rather than declined?”

Mu Nanshu’s face instantly turned red with embarrassment: ”Stop joining in on the fuss!”

”Back to business.” Mu Nanshu tidied her hair and pulled the hand of the turning Xie Yuan’an: ”Sister Xie, the clinical project on tendon suturing is under your charge. You can’t fall behind on the progress, okay?”

”This tendon suturing project not only has practical clinical significance but also other attached meanings!”

Xie Yuan’an turned back around and sat down seriously: ”I actually came here to talk to you about this. It was you who started being lovey-dovey first, okay?”

”So here’s the thing, I’ve been in touch with my dad recently. My dad has also talked a lot with Professor Zhong. The gist is, he wants me to stay in Ji City for now.”

”And for the suturing technique, we can invite a few people over to learn it. Once they’ve learned, they can go back and start right away.”

Lu Cheng instantly raised an eyebrow: ”Sister Xie, do you think this makes sense?”

Xie Yuan’an: ”That’s why I came to discuss it with you.”

”If it’s a discussion, it shouldn’t be in such a commanding tone. My answer is clear, I don’t think it’s very appropriate.” Lu Cheng said.

”Sister Xie, don’t look at me. I’m just this kind of person.”

Xie Yuan’an seemed to have anticipated Lu Cheng’s response and continued: ”The people coming are all my dad’s students?”

”Lu Cheng, your research and development pace is so fast, almost unbelievably so, so…”

”I have to keep an eye on you, closely on you.”

Xie Yuan’an’s words elicited a reaction from Mu Nanshu: ”Sister Xie, isn’t that a bit much? Why do you get to keep an eye on him?”

”Just because you gave Lu Cheng an exception to attend Union Hospital’s advanced training class? There are so many participating in the advanced training class alongside Lu Cheng.”

”By this logic, Zhongnan Hospital could come and morally blackmail us too.”

Mu Nanshu shifted the topic from sentiment to reality.

To stay, you must state your reason. What can our project group gain from this?

What are your demands?

Xie Yuan’an is only responsible for the tendon suturing project, at most learning vascular and nerve suturing techniques. Once you’ve learned these, you should be on your way, right?

You’re in hand surgery, what relevance do you have with the general surgery projects?

Xie Yuan’an, in a low voice, said: ”Xiao Mumu, my dad’s suggestion is to let Lu Cheng be our project group’s scientific advisor.”

Mu Nanshu immediately shook her head: ”Sister Xie, don’t mention such honorary titles. Lu Cheng is really busy, and we’re busy too.”

The title of scientific advisor in the lab sounds prestigious, but it’s pretty much a token title.

If there are no real tasks to do, better not have the title at all. If actual work is needed without compensation, why even bother?

Lu Cheng here is quite busy, barely has enough time as is.

Xie Yuan’an gritted her teeth and said: ”Hence, my dad has come here, and he wants to meet with Lu Cheng in person.”

”He’s already in Ji City and has booked a place for dinner.”

”I just got the message.”

Xie Yuan’an knew what Xie Xiao was here for, just didn’t expect him today.

Lu Cheng and Mu Nanshu exchanged a glance. Lu Cheng said: ”Sister Xie, in the future, for matters like this, you ought to inform us earlier for our convenience.”

”Putting everything else aside, a guest is a guest. As long as they’re not particularly dishonorable uninvited guests, we should be ready to host them.”

”Book Bag, make a reservation at Countryside, and we’ll head over immediately…”

The professors from Huashan Hospital also had no connection with Lu Cheng, yet upon knowing they visited, they were immediately received by him. No reason to not receive Xie Xiao.

Of course, if Lu Cheng were on duty, even if his parents came, he wouldn’t be able to accompany them.

This is the real nature of a doctor’s job.

...

Xie Yuan’an drove herself, while Lu Cheng, after explaining the situation to Professor Chen Song, went out with Mu Nanshu.

Professor Chen Song has nothing to do with Professor Xie Xiao from Union Hospital’s hand surgery, no need to encounter each other, and there’s no value in anyone trying to lick boots.

They’re on different tracks, so Chen Song didn’t follow.

At this moment, Mu Nanshu began to vaguely understand Lu Cheng’s previous words.

Sometimes, one really needs to have a big heart. Success or not, that’s just up to destiny.
