System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Lu Cheng said: ”I think my relationship with Teacher Chen is both that of a mentor and a friend. Initially, I held great respect for him. But after demystifying some things, I found Teacher Chen quite adorable instead.”

”If he’s adorable, do you have to be detestable?” Mu Nanshu asked.

Mu Nanshu usually held great respect for Chen Song because Professor Chen Song’s skills were the best in the research group. Even Lu Cheng could only slightly surpass him in Suturing Technique; in terms of basic skills, Chen Song was still the one who called the shots.

After all, he was about to be promoted to professor, and he was a very talented veteran.

Medical practice isn’t eSports, nor is it a sunrise industry; it’s a late-blooming profession, where one’s prime is in their forties or fifties.

”Otherwise, how would we become rivals?”

”Alright, Teacher Chen and I know what’s going on between us.”

Lu Cheng then lowered his voice: ”Let me tell you, actually, Teacher Chen’s position at Xiangya Second Hospital is also quite awkward; don’t be fooled by him being a promising associate professor.”

”He might become the youngest professor in the future, but in the emergency surgery department of Xiangya Second Hospital, there are even stronger people...”

”Otherwise, why do you think Professor Chen Song refuses to enjoy the high-standing treatment of a grand professor back there and instead wants to work on new projects with our research group?”

”Just doing it for love?”

”So?” Mu Nanshu continued to ask.

”Other teachers, no matter who they are, their ability and power have nothing to do with me. But Teacher Chen is almost a mature professor now.”

”If we can give him a little push, that’s even more like a mentor and friend relationship.”

”For example, what if we helped Teacher Chen attain some prominent youth award? What do you think?” Lu Cheng asked Mu Nanshu.

Mu Nanshu was utterly stunned: ”You haven’t even solved your own PhD issues, and you’re thinking about helping the teacher achieve a prominent youth award?”

Lu Cheng replied: ”Can’t I dream a little bigger?”

”Otherwise, life would be too boring, right?”

Thinking about such things tends to expand infinitely as one grows.

When Lu Cheng was young, he never dared to imagine he could get into one of the top ten universities in the country.

Before using any exploits, Lu Cheng thought if he could get into a city-level hospital and later be spotted by some boss who would help him improve his qualifications, and if he could get Mu Nanshu back, his life would be complete.

But the thing is, Lu Cheng is already on the move.

Even though he can’t just start flaunting and move with an invincible attitude towards everyone, thinking ”I’m unbeatable, do whatever”, that’s Lu Cheng being stupid.

Would still contemplating whether he could get a research spot, or could earn over 10,000 a month mean his brains are functioning well?

Seeing Mu Nanshu not responding, Lu Cheng emphasized again: ”Look towards the long-term, the long-term, for now, let’s just focus on the immediate issues.”

”I’m worried you’ll get carried away,” Mu Nanshu said with a hint of concern.

Lu Cheng’s expression tightened: ”Maybe a bit carried away in the future, but definitely not now.”

”Don’t think I’m treating Professor Chen Song as just some kind of resource, it’s not like that.”

”I clearly understand the setbacks I’ve faced.”

”But the most successful thing in my life is nurturing relationships. My parents’ love for me is relatively unconditional.”

”Therefore, I believe if there is truly someone I can trust unconditionally, it certainly means nurturing them into a top-notch figure as well.”

”And it’s not just about pushing him up but having all of us rise simultaneously.”

Although Mu Nanshu felt the term ”nurturing relationships” wasn’t pleasant, he couldn’t refute it.

Many things can ultimately be summarized and generalized.

There are also discoverable patterns in love.

Not mentioning superficial attraction, having money, good looks, spending a long time together, talent, character, and a comfortable feeling!

There always has to be at least one, right?

Having none means just getting by, it’s not really about relationships, it’s all purely rational.

”I said don’t get carried away, to remind you to find your real position,” Mu Nanshu said.

Lu Cheng replied: ”Of course, I know my real position, Book Bag; I know my real situation even clearer than you do.”

”Precisely because my real position is limited, I have to put my eggs in more baskets.”

”Moreover, it doesn’t mean I have to please everyone; even if I suffer some setbacks, and the pace isn’t very fast, I’m not scared.”

”If I chase for speed, I could go to Union Hospital with these qualifications and submit to a big boss there, wouldn’t that be fast?”

”Of course, I also understand that you’re worried I can’t handle the scene. I’ve had those worries too, but if I can’t handle it, I should practice it.”

”If I suffer a setback this time, I’ll make up for it next time.”

”Learn what I don’t know.”

”Eventually, there will be a time I won’t suffer setbacks anymore.”

Mu Nanshu then asked: ”So you believe you’ll always have opportunities to produce?”

Lu Cheng said: ”That’s my greatest self-confidence and asset.”

”Did you not catch the other layer of what I meant?” Lu Cheng suddenly shifted the conversation.

Mu Nanshu pursed his lips, his eyes darting, and then he and Lu Cheng locked eyes.

”Professor Chen Song is my teacher, my mentor in teaching.”

”You’re my wife; we rise together. What you gain will definitely be multiple or even ten times that of others.”

”Also, we’re now part of an initial startup team; whatever we do, no one will say it’s wrong to do it that way.”

”And no one will say it’s about who grew with whom or who opened the back door for whom!!”

”But all these rumors and gossip will appear with anyone else besides you and me.”

”You can always trust the tongues and gossiping hearts of our fellow countrymen.”
