System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Lu Cheng answered truthfully: ”It’s a Spleen Preservation Surgery.”

Xiao Zhaoxi was soon to leave the State People’s Hospital. For many things here, he probably didn’t have much attachment or nostalgia anymore.

Xiao Zhaoxi’s expression suddenly changed: ”Look, you’re about to mess around?”

Lu Cheng said: ”No, Director Xiao, Director Du has already gone through the relevant procedures with the County Health Bureau. The preparation for the authorization and risk assessment of the new surgical technique began last year.”

”It was only finalized on the twelfth of this month.”

Xiao Zhaoxi was startled: ”Is that true?”

Although Xiao Zhaoxi recognized Lu Cheng’s abilities, rules were rules. If he were still around, he might have had the chance to secure an opportunity for Lu Cheng.

But the current situation at the State People’s Hospital is that the emergency department only handles emergencies; everything else is not under its purview.

Even if he managed to secure permissions for Lu Cheng before leaving, it would eventually yield nothing.

”Director Xiao, you focus on your priorities, and I focus on mine.”

”The reason I didn’t inform you earlier is because it seemed a bit like bragging. Nanshu has been with me throughout; we’ve been through a lot together, and now, whatever we do, we ensure stability first.”

”If the procedures weren’t in place, even if Director Du asked me to perform surgery, I wouldn’t dare recklessly step up.”

”But since all procedures have been completed and approved by Xiangya Second Hospital and they’ve obtained the approval forms from the Provincial Health and Health Commission and the Ministry of Science and Technology for clinical trials, how can I not push forward with the project?”

Listening to Lu Cheng speak, Xiao Zhaoxi suddenly felt a sense of the changing tides.

How old was Xiao Zhaoxi? He certainly understood that everyone’s circles are different.

Circles are nothing more than a center with oneself at the core, extending outward to a certain radius.

Lu Cheng wasn’t the protagonist in Xiao Zhaoxi’s perspective; he paid attention to Lu Cheng but not much.

However, Lu Cheng was the protagonist in his own world, and he was very aware of what Lu Cheng was doing.

This included, among other things, the procedures he and Director Du Qiang from Long County People’s Hospital needed to follow...

Ironically, Xiao Zhaoxi hadn’t paid any attention to these matters. Even if the Provincial Health and Health Commission had issued an announcement, he wouldn’t constantly keep tabs on that page.

What Xiao Zhaoxi was focused on now was his transfer procedures to the Provincial People’s Hospital.

Lu Cheng also wouldn’t be concerned with his procedures.

This is the human world, a very real human world, and also a very fascinating one.

Xiao Zhaoxi suddenly felt sentimental, his gaze becoming complex: ”Xiao Lu, if only I had met you earlier, how great would that have been?”

Xiao Zhaoxi had a necessary reason to go to Sha City, for the sake of his grandchildren.

Xiao Zhaoxi could not, for the sake of Lu Cheng, this ”talent,” for the future of someone nearing sixty, let go of his responsibility to his descendants’ education.

”Director Xiao, meeting you is destiny, and destiny is precious.”

”I believe, Director Xiao, you are happy and content, aren’t you?” Lu Cheng said.

Xiao Zhaoxi was stunned: ”At such a young age, you have this kind of insight? Tsk tsk...”

”It seems that no matter what, my understanding of you is still not thorough enough.”

”If you aren’t one to know sorrow in your youth, then your experiences must be quite exceptional.”

”But you don’t need to hurry to speak, I’m not that curious about these things.”

”After I leave, it’s very likely that Director Wu from Internal Medicine will take over my position. By then, the situation might change, but before I leave, I’ll try to secure some benefits for you.”

Lu Cheng immediately expressed his gratitude: ”Thank you, Director Xiao.”

”Regarding this matter, I also have some insider information. According to what Dean Yao from Hepatobiliary Surgery says, our emergency department’s director is likely to be someone parachuted in.”

Xiao Zhaoxi’s expression changed sharply: ”You? Dean Yao?”

Xiao Zhaoxi immediately pieced together the clues he thought of. Previously, when Lu Cheng came to the hospital for a consulting surgery, the main department was Hepatobiliary Surgery, and as the vice dean, Yao Xin was rightfully involved.

Lu Cheng took the stage, performed as the lead surgeon, and thus caught Yao Xin’s attention, leading to private contact.

”The younger generation is truly formidable, and Mu Leng really didn’t misjudge him,” concluded Xiao Zhaoxi.

Lu Cheng said: ”So, Director Xiao, you’re not using Uncle Mu as a guise to make me and Nanshu call off the engagement now?”

Xiao Zhaoxi laughed: ”Well, that was just a joke.”

”But if you do take it seriously, it’s not entirely unworkable, and the support I can offer you is certainly no less than Mu Leng.”

”What do you say?”

Without much hesitation, Lu Cheng asked: ”Can the support you offer be stronger than Director Xiang at Xiangya Second Hospital?”

Lu Cheng’s expression turned into a half-smile.

Xiao Zhaoxi’s memories suddenly fragmented.

When he first met Lu Cheng, Lu Cheng had said that he knew the big boss at Xiangya Second Hospital.

Back then, Xiao Zhaoxi wanted to exploit the connection, hoping the other party would give him a hand and help him successfully land a position at the Renmin Hospital.

Ultimately, after achieving the position, Xiao Zhaoxi would forget some of the countless details.

Lu Cheng seemed to be just a small attending physician, but he already had his own solid network, and these connections were beyond what Mu Leng could reach.

With Mu Leng’s financial resources, it wouldn’t be considered strange for the director of the emergency department at Xiangya Second Hospital to ignore him.

They dealt with not a few deputy directors and even higher-level leaders.

”Although I’m curious why, with such great capability and connections, you would come here, I won’t ask too much.”
