System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Xie Yuan’an had already left the competition venue and gone shopping with her best friend, so basically no one could get in touch with her.

And Xie Yuan’an didn’t care, she knew that if she really needed to show up, her dad would definitely call.

As long as Xie Xiao didn’t make a call, it meant she could still handle things.

But with a big-shot professor dad backing her up, Hu Yi and the others didn’t have such luck.

So, even after the youth doctor competition ended, although Hu Yi and others followed Professor Tan Zhongyuan and other bosses to ’report in person’, they still received quite a few phone calls.

All of them were inquiring about what exactly happened with Hu Yi and the others.

”Director Tan, there’s another call. Should I answer it or not?” Hu Yi was actually quite happy after winning the first prize, but after the joy faded, it felt like endless troubles began to haunt him, with calls coming in non-stop.

Without a doubt, the first prizes Xie Yuan’an took for tendon sutures and substantial organ sutures had nothing to do with hand surgery.

But the new suturing techniques for nerves and vessels relate to the most cutting-edge field of function reconstruction surgery in hand surgery, a field all hospitals are competing for.

”Answer it, why wouldn’t you?”

Tan Zhongyuan said, ”The caller might be a professor, are you trying to act high and mighty?”

”I have to answer many calls.”

Hu Yi was resigned, stepped out of the team to take the call.

Hu Yi put on his usual flattery: ”Hello, teacher.”

”Is this Dr. Hu from Xiangya Hospital? I’m Du Lianshan from Huashan Hospital, is it convenient for you to talk?” An amiable middle-aged man’s voice came from the other end of the line.

Truth be told, Hu Yi only knew that Huashan Hospital’s hand surgery had three or four wards, but who the professors were and how good they were, he really hadn’t paid attention to.

He was just a junior attending doctor, hadn’t even cleared the associate professor level, with other hospitals’ associate professors being his main network.

There are many units nationwide strong in hand surgery, like Jishuitan, Kyoto Third Hospital, Modu Sixth Hospital, Huaxi Hospital, Union Hospital...

Hu Yi really couldn’t keep track.

”Hello Professor Du, I’m available now, what instructions do you have?” Hu Yi’s tone was very polite.

”Dr. Hu, it’s like this, I heard from my student that you performed exceptionally well in the youth doctor competition before, so firstly, congratulations!”

”Getting good results in such competitions is definitely not easy.”

”However, I heard that the suturing techniques you used differ from the usual vascular and nerve suturing methods? Do you have your own method?” Du Lianshan asked somewhat indirectly.

Hu Yi said, ”Teacher Du, you’re asking the same question too.”

”Well, it isn’t exactly a method, just a slight improvement to the basic simple interrupted suturing technique, currently not forming a method.”

In professional fields, a method is a standard surgical technique, a method is a standard suturing technique.

Beyond that, it’s basic skills.

Techniques not recognized, not reproducible, cannot become classic, or be called a surgical technique.

For a technique to be passed down, it must have repeatable methods within it, able to be learned by others.

”Dr. Hu, may I ask, which professor or doctor at your hospital is primarily advocating this improvement?” Du Lianshan politely asked.

The question by Du Lianshan was still a familiar old one to Hu Yi.

Hu Yi said, ”Professor Du, this improvement in suturing technique wasn’t done by anyone at our hospital.”

”It was our collaborator.”

Du Lianshan: ”???”

”No, buddy.” Du Lianshan was really baffled, disregarding the composure expected of a man his age, ”Are you kidding me?”

”He didn’t compete himself, nor did his affiliated unit participate, letting your Xiangya Hospital get the fame??”

The reason Du Lianshan reacted so strongly was partly due to the absurdity of the statement and partly because he was a bit angry, feeling that this competition had been violently manipulated.

And it’s the most brutal manipulation, and no one dares to comment on this ’righteous manipulation’!

Hu Yi swallowed and said, ”Teacher Du, that’s just the fact.”

Du Lianshan’s voice tightened: ”Which unit is it then? I’m really curious, being so generous.”

”Huazhong, Union Hospital,” Hu Yi replied.

Du Lianshan took his phone away and asked someone in the distance, ”Did you guys say earlier that in the other two categories, wasn’t it also Union Hospital people who won awards?”

”But it seemed like only one person? It wasn’t a sweep.”

”Yes, Professor Du. For tendon suturing, we were supposed to get a good result, but were pushed to fourth,” someone replied.

”Is that so? Then Professor Zhong’s plan is a bit grand,” confirmed Du Lianshan, his tone becoming more playful.

Professor Zhong Junyun is a nationally renowned master in hand surgery, and even Du Lianshan couldn’t understand this one incident.

Hu Yi said, ”Professor Du, I don’t understand what you mean, but anyway, that teacher found us to collaborate, we couldn’t refuse.”

”You’re collaborating too?”

”Don’t tell me your collaboration involves hand surgery topics,” Du Lianshan’s voice broke.

”Exactly!” Hu Yi answered.

”Nerve and vascular suturing techniques?” Du Lianshan’s voice grew sharper.

Hu Yi remained an echo: ”Exactly.”

”Then your Xiangya is really something!” Du Lianshan began to speak sarcastically, thinking Xiangya Hospital pulled some tricks.
