System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”Brother Zhang, really no need... If you give me money, the nature of this changes. It’s just not proper.”

”The suturing technique for solid organs like the spleen is not very difficult to start with, but I’ll need a few days to provide you with a tutorial because I still haven’t figured out how exactly it should be practiced,” Lu Cheng declined Zhang Tiesheng’s offer.

It’s not that Lu Cheng doesn’t want to make money, he just doesn’t want to earn it in this way during the current times.

Zhang Tiesheng thought for a moment and nodded: ”That’s okay then. Anyway, Xiao Lu, as long as I learn it well, your Brother Zhang will definitely make sure you’re not shortchanged.”

Joking between Zhang Tiesheng and Lu Cheng, they left the operating room together.

The family naturally worried about the patient’s condition, so they immediately gathered to ask about the specifics, and Zhang Tiesheng consciously took the initiative to interact and negotiate with the family.

Seeing Zhang Tiesheng being ”blocked,” Lu Cheng naturally rushed back to the ward to issue medical orders and write surgery records.

As a ’junior’ doctor, he should be the one to write surgery records.

Upon returning to the ward, Lu Cheng saw Peng Kun exiting the emergency surgery director’s office. Peng Kun glanced at Lu Cheng from afar, gave a soft laugh, and silently left without greeting him.

Lu Cheng didn’t think much of it, and walked straight to the doctor’s office to start working.

Shortly after, Director Du Qiang came out of his office, passed by the doctor’s office, and then turned back in.

Du Qiang, with hands behind his back, suddenly showed a particularly conflicted expression and emotions, standing just behind Lu Cheng’s left.

Lu Cheng actually noticed Du Qiang’s arrival, but Lu Cheng was ”for a moment” unsure whether or not to call him Uncle Du.

”Director Du.” Lu Cheng stood up.

”Connections are broad, huh? Starting to push others around?” Du Qiang’s expression and tone turned cold immediately.

Lu Cheng remained silent, quietly watching Du Qiang’s performance.

Du Qiang continued: ”Anyway, I’ve told you before, you’re an adult; whatever you do, you have to take responsibility for it yourself.”

”If anything goes wrong, don’t drag me into it.”

Lu Cheng’s tone was also ”slightly cold”: ”Alright, Director Du, thank you for your concern.”

Du Qiang then walked over to a computer nearby, sat down, and glanced at Lu Cheng’s surgery records and postoperative orders.

Lowering his voice: ”Peng Kun from orthopedics came looking for me just now, you should know Peng Kun, he’s Director Peng Haibo’s son.”

Lu Cheng continued to stay silent, not responding.

”As you said, orthopedics is a tough place to be; when the tree falls, the monkeys scatter, and when people leave, the tea cools. After Director Peng was investigated, Peng Kun was the first to be wound up.”

”So he’s applying to transfer to our emergency department next month, and the hospital’s medical department has agreed.”

”After all, Peng Kun has a master’s degree, which is still a high educational front for our hospital.”

”Secondly, what’s going on between you and Huang Haibo from the internal medicine department? He’s started winding me up.”

Lu Cheng looked at Du Qiang in confusion, completely clueless as to what’s going on.

Du Qiang looked at Lu Cheng’s clear and innocent eyes, his smile was bitter: ”Forget it, talking to you about this is pointless, your luck and skills are just good.”

”Therefore, those you encounter now are all decent people.”

”Huang Haibo doesn’t want to be the emergency department director, he doesn’t plan to stay in the county, but he has the deputy senior title, he won’t go through selection exams to go to Xiangzhou People’s Hospital’s emergency department.”

”He seems to want to take you with him.”

Lu Cheng grew even more puzzled but didn’t respond immediately. Lu Cheng knew that the issues Du Qiang raised were meant for him to address after work.

Du Qiang canceled all of Lu Cheng’s non-duty work, leaving Lu Cheng with plenty of free time.

With hands behind his back, Du Qiang arrogantly left the doctor’s office.

Outside the door, Du Qiang ordered: ”I don’t want to see my name, you can perform whatever surgeries you like yourself, don’t add my name.”

”Even if you add it, I won’t acknowledge it!”

For Du Qiang’s showmanship, Lu Cheng could only give him two thumbs up.

Actually, it wasn’t the first day Du Qiang was like this, and in the county’s units, Du Qiang wasn’t the only one like that.

But Lu Cheng never had the chance to deeply interact with directors, so he never understood their survival ”ecosystem!”

If you talk about hypocrisy, Lu Cheng could see it in any senior attending physician.

Including Zhang Tiesheng, Zeng Huanqi, Xiang Kuihua, and others...

However, the patient’s family didn’t come to Lu Cheng; Lu Cheng was the actual surgical operator, but the main surgeon listed in the surgery records was Zhang Tiesheng, who held a deputy senior title.

The day shift in the ward was Zeng Huanqi, and ’Brother Hei’ walked yawning into the doctor’s office, immediately smiling: ”Teacher Lu is here, right when the coffee I ordered arrived.”

Lu Cheng quickly said: ”Brother Zeng, the patient from the surgery just now will be returned to the ward soon, please keep a real-time watch!”

”Pay extra attention to the drainage volume.”

Zeng Huanqi waved his hand broadly: ”Don’t worry, don’t worry, Teacher Lu, don’t you trust your own surgery quality?”

Lu Cheng still ’fussed’: ”After all, it’s a relatively unfamiliar surgery, it’s better to be cautious. If the drainage volume exceeds 60ml, perform a bedside ultrasound promptly.”

”Hmm hmm hmm, got it, I’ve made notes.”

Zeng Huanqi laughed: ”Wouldn’t dare not make notes, afraid to be nagged to death by you, Xiao Lu.”

”Hey, by the way, Xiao Lu, can Tian Zhuang start with tendon suturing now? I just heard today he took someone into the operating room independently.”

Lu Cheng nodded with a smile: ”Yes, Brother Wu has been working hard, he’s been studying for a long time, and indeed he’s started with tendon suturing; handling some simple tendons is no longer a problem.”
