System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Zeng Long’an, of course, also said that the normal operation and maintenance of Long County People’s Hospital is not easy, and he hopes the State will consider this and stop skimming off the top from Long County People’s Hospital.

Otherwise, the hospital’s departments would collapse...

Zeng Long’an’s actions, as far as Lu Cheng knows, have had a significant impact on Huang Haibo of the emergency internal medicine department.

Director Huang Haibo has been in a particularly bad mood these past few days.

According to rumors, Huang Haibo originally planned to join the ”talent introduction” program of the State People’s Hospital. The emergency department of the State People’s Hospital also faced a personnel shortage under the inspection group this time.

But because Dean Zeng Long’an cried so well, the positive response that Huang Haibo had already received was gone.

Moreover, Sister Yaqin from the internal medicine department also said that she heard a call between Huang Haibo and a leader. The leader said to let Huang Haibo hold off, as Long County is indeed a place at the junction of three provinces, and Huang Haibo is a backbone here...

After finishing, Zeng Huanqi said, ”Based on this, at the moment, apart from our Director Lin Qianlong, it seems that only a resignation from a respiratory internal medicine attending physician was normally approved.”

”Other resignations, such as Director Du’s resignation before, were all rejected by the State Committee, and the resignation applications were sent back.”

Lu Cheng was puzzled: ”Brother Zeng, isn’t this resignation normal? How can it be sent back?”

”Yes... usually it’s normal, but it’s not the usual time now. The State said to wait until the investigation work of the central inspection group is over before discussing these matters.”

”The response given to you is very formal, to prevent any unverified violations. Do you dare not comply?” Zeng Huanqi thought Lu Cheng was still young.

Lu Cheng: ”...”

In normal times, everyone can turn a blind eye, even if there’s some embezzlement, if the amount isn’t large or won’t be investigated, they’ll leave you alone.

At this point, you want to resign, right? Sure, should I report your name to the disciplinary committee? Do you agree?

An attending physician might be approved after all, as they’re minor figures and generally not sought after by pharmaceutical sales representatives, but 99% of deputy chief physicians have issues.

The superior unit doesn’t want you to leave, and they have ways to keep you.

Even if you can withstand an investigation, it would take a long time.

But Lu Cheng was quite curious: ”What about Director Lin? How could he be approved?”

”Director Lin’s situation is relatively special after all!” Zeng Huanqi said.

”Why?” Lu Cheng asked.

Zeng Huanqi said: ”Do you want Director Lin to dig up the previous recruitment incident and go over it all again?”

”Don’t be naive, brother.”

Zeng Huanqi continued: ”Lu Cheng, even you, when entering our unit, I guess you had some tricks?”

”Certainly, your academic background is excellent, with a prestigious Han City University degree, but I’m sure you had some relatives make calls and arrange it.”

Zeng Huanqi guessed right, Lu Cheng’s uncle, Lu Nanyong, really helped by making calls.

Long County is not big. While not everyone has intricate connections, over 90% can find someone they can talk to.

And during recruitment periods, everyone uses their connections.

”Of course, your issue is minor. As long as you don’t bribe, it’s all negotiable.”

”With your qualifications, I doubt anyone would accept bribes from you.”

”Whether to help or how much help to offer, and under what circumstances to accept benefits - the recipients know better than you.”

”Those who don’t understand are often taken for a ’tea chat’.”

As Zeng Huanqi finished saying this, a patient came in from outside, clearly a minor debridement case.

Lu Cheng immediately stepped up to prepare the debridement package and began the conversation template and consent form, while Zeng Huanqi promptly started the consultation process.

...

The next day, November 10th, Tuesday, clear weather.

At two in the afternoon, Lu Cheng checked his morning selection written test results at a hotel outside Ji City Xiangzhou People’s Hospital and was momentarily stunned.

[Surgery.]

”First place, candidate number: 08025, medical public foundation: 85 points, surgical professional knowledge: 91 points. Total score: 176 points.”

”Second place: candidate number: 03011, medical public foundation: 72 points, surgical professional knowledge: 72 points, total score: 144 points.”

”Third place: candidate number: 01002...”

Lu Cheng scored first in the written test for the surgery group, leading the second-place by a whopping 32 points.

The third and second places were very close, with a total of 142 points, only two points apart.

When Lu Cheng saw the score, his first reaction wasn’t happiness, but a bit of worry.

In this current situation, with such a high selection exam score, wasn’t that making him a target?

Didn’t the graders consider these factors?

It’s important to know that medical exams have essay questions, and the scoring can be flexible, unlike multiple choice questions where there is a clear right or wrong.

Lu Cheng had only estimated his score to be around 85 points.

Of course, Lu Cheng wasn’t worried himself. Even though he had met Xiao Zhaoxi, he hadn’t used Xiao Zhaoxi for shortcuts. On the contrary, Lu Cheng refused Xiao Zhaoxi’s ”shortcut”!

The conditions offered through talent introduction are good, but they also come with another layer of shackles.

The selection exam process moves quickly.

After the written test, once the candidates are shortlisted, the practical exam officially starts the next day or two.

Of course, after the written test, no one is allowed to leave, as they need to choose their positions based on the exam scores in the afternoon.

In the surgery department, there are a specific number of slots. After determining a three-to-one ratio for shortlisting, those who pass need to decide in advance which specialization to apply for.

The emergency surgery department has one slot, so they decide in advance which people will compete for that slot.

After all, if you’re not from thoracic surgery and are selected for thoracic surgery, it’s useless. Thus, positions must be chosen in advance.
