System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”Our hospital is just a County Hospital, and County Hospitals are relatively basic medical institutions. We have fulfilled our responsibilities, but we can’t take off the high hat of new procedures.”

”Director Tian, I know that in addition to conveying the intentions of the higher authorities, you certainly need to provide feedback on the incident this time.”

”We can admit our mistakes, but if there is no mistake, we are also able to explain.”

”This is not an excuse, but personally, I feel that there might be a slight lack of rigor in the supervision of medical regulations by the higher authorities.”

”Director Tian, perhaps you could give some private advice and mediate a little?”

”The main point is, the patient is currently recovering well, with no adverse consequences, and the treatment outcome is far above the general average level for the same condition.”

”This is in line with the medical conduct guidelines.”

Tian Qi said, ”But just now, Director Lin said he did indeed implement a new procedure?”

Huang Haibo replied, ”Director Tian, the leaders in our Health and Wellness Bureau have repeatedly held meetings with us, publicizing the relevant laws and regulations. How could our hospital possibly violate these by implementing a new procedure?”

”Isn’t this a fact that you’ve already determined?”

”This time, we have caused trouble for you, and we hope that the leaders can bear the burden and check the relevant information again, to make things a bit easier for us clinical doctors.”

A person next to Tian Qi, using Huang Haibo’s words, discovered more specific clauses, whispered a few words to him: ”Director Tian, it seems Director Huang is correct.”

”There are things like what Director Huang mentioned in the ’Out-of-Scope Practice’ and emergency exemption policies.”

Tian Qi thought seriously for a moment and asked, ”Director Huang, could you come with us for a more comprehensive response?”

Huang Haibo said, ”That’s no problem. If I can help the leaders, I am willing to be of service.”

Hu Qingshan then said, ”Director Tian, our hospital’s Director Huang has a lawyer’s license.”

”Even better!”

”If we are more familiar with the relevant articles, we will be able to provide better feedback. In fact, we don’t want to create more issues at this time either.”

”The thing is, due to some external reasons, our hospital is being closely monitored, and any little disturbance will... Well, let’s leave it at that for now. Director Huang and I will go back and study this further...”

After Tian Qi finished speaking, he looked at Director Lin Qianlong again: ”Director Lin, no matter what, you still have to bear the main responsibility for this matter.”

Lin Qianlong sighed deeply.

...

After Tian Qi and others left, Zhang Tiesheng and Lu Cheng looked somewhat surprised at Du Qiang.

Du Qiang did not explain to Lu Cheng and Zhang Tiesheng but looked at Lin Qianlong and said with a smile, ”Director Lin, this time, Director Huang should bring you good news.”

There was not much change in Lin Qianlong’s expression, seemingly not considering Du Qiang’s words to make sense.

This matter was temporarily ’irrelevant’ to Du Qiang, so he didn’t stay long: ”Director Lin, I’ll step out for a bit.”

After Du Qiang left, Zhang Tiesheng hurriedly asked, ”Director Lin, what exactly is going on today? Didn’t they say before that the Spleen Suturing Skill is something we can routinely use in emergency surgeries?”

”We didn’t explicitly write the name of the Spleen Preservation Surgery technique.”

Lin Qianlong said, ”Zhang Tiesheng, do you think those leaders are fools?”

”The same spleen injury has such different hospitalization costs with different surgeries. Do you think they wouldn’t notice the difference?”

”Fortunately, the patient didn’t have any problems.”

”Though Director Huang Haibo helped, whether he can completely get out of this unscathed is still an unknown.”

”Dean Peng caused our hospital too many troubles.” Lin Qianlong sighed deeply.

Zhang Tiesheng said, ”Then what do we do now? Director Lin, should we find out what the higher-ups think about this matter?”

”The main focus now is to investigate medical economic issues. Our problem is definitely not the core issue.”

Lin Qianlong nodded, ”In recent years, due to Huang Haibo causing issues, we’ve lived modestly, but at least without many loopholes.”

”Director Huang is indeed farsighted.”

Zhang Tiesheng said, ”Director Huang is indeed very visionary, but he just doesn’t want to stay...”

Lu Cheng was very sure that this matter was not some underhanded trick; it was just that he got ’caught up’ in it.
