System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Mu Nanshu nodded without hesitation, ”These superficial accolades are actually quite useful within the industry!”

”Many people strive for them but can’t achieve them.”

Lu Cheng said, ”I used to think the same as you, but an incident I encountered some time ago made me more determined not to participate in such competitions.”

”When the water is shallow, there are more turtles. I don’t want to be morally shackled one day.”

”Fame brings complications.”

”But before you have fame, everything you do that benefits personal development is within the rules, and no one can morally blackmail you.”

”Who?” Mu Nanshu wasn’t doubting Lu Cheng’s words.

Lu Cheng answered, ”Our department’s current director, Du Qiang. He can’t leave simply because they won’t let him leave!”

Mu Nanshu rubbed her eyes, feeling a bit tired too, ”No wonder you told me before that it’s tough to make it in prefecture-level city hospitals, and advised me against going to one.”

Lu Cheng smiled wryly, ”What I knew before was just the tip of the iceberg.”

”In this world, the operating rules of big circles and small circles are completely different.”

”We can only blend in slowly!”

”Once the selection exam matters are settled, I’ll completely withdraw and peacefully take a break for a while.”

”Focus on projects, concentrate on my specialty, and disregard all other matters.”

Mu Nanshu said, ”Professor Chen and Professor Tong have both messaged me, saying our preliminary preparations are ready.”

”I’ve already revised your two proposals, and they can be submitted then, aiming for you to earn some money in your name.”

”Though it’s just a provincial project, having the experience of leading a provincial project helps you secure higher-level projects in the future.”

”Your education background isn’t strong, and you haven’t accumulated much yet, so you lack the general equivalent value in the academic and project sectors.”

”Are the number of articles and projects like money in the research world?” Lu Cheng asked.

”Yes! To put it bluntly, that’s how it is.”

”That’s the operating rule in the research world, even if it’s also a bigger makeshift setup, but for now, it still adheres to these basic rules. If you have something to present, at least people will treat you politely on the surface.”

”But if you have nothing to present, you won’t even receive courtesy.”

”So everyone is trying their best to publish articles, write papers, and apply for projects,” Mu Nanshu said.

”Of course, at the essence, it’s actually about innovation. By now, you should realize the immense power of research and originality, right?”

”Because you are already a beneficiary of it.” Mu Nanshu felt no need to explain further.

In the past, Lu Cheng obviously couldn’t understand.

But now, he certainly had deep insights.

Professor Tong Yuan’an’s breakdown, ’shutdown’, and Professor Chen Song’s ’compromise’ when Lu Cheng broke free!

Isn’t it just a case of overwhelming pressure applied from a higher dimension?

Research is one of the few legitimate paths that allow overwhelming pressure and overtaking on curves.

Other paths, like being a descendant of a super distinguished individual or a super wealthy second-generation, aren’t routes Lu Cheng could traverse.

Lu Cheng checked the balance of his skill points: [72.3 points]

Matters outside the profession, no matter the situation, always affect personal learning speed and efficiency.

...

After returning to Long County, Lu Cheng immediately resumed his position and continued his previous routine.

However, unlike before, there are some surgeries that Lu Cheng cannot perform now.

A few days later, Lu Cheng saw the announcement of the state selection exam results and list.

The public announcement period lasts for a week, during which candidates can challenge the content of the announcement.

However, after the selection exam, when to transfer files and when to take up positions in the selection unit are not officially documented yet.

But it’s certainly not something that can happen within this year.

In the following period, Lu Cheng was extremely busy.

Busy with his shifts on the one hand, and teaching suturing techniques to Xie Yuan’an, Hu Yi, Han Yunshen, and Xie Ziyuan whenever he had time.

If he had more time, Lu Cheng would head to the laboratory in Ji City to work with Tong Yuan’an and Chen Song on animal experiment projects.

Meanwhile, at Long County People’s Hospital, Du Qiang continued to ’stir things up’, almost daily emphasizing in the department that medical safety must be ensured, and surgeries not suitable for the emergency department should not be conducted.

Anyone daring to undertake ”unapproved surgeries” would bear the responsibility themselves!

Moreover, Du Qiang frequently reported Lu Cheng as a ’rebellious’ element to the hospital officials.

On one hand, reducing Lu Cheng’s involvement in clinical practices at Long County People’s Hospital, while on the other hand, enhancing his presence in surgical work!

Initially, everyone didn’t take it seriously.

But as days and then half a month passed, many gradually thought that perhaps, Lu Cheng wasn’t that important.

After all, Long County People’s Hospital is just a county-level hospital, where someone like Du Qiang focuses on fulfilling his duties in the emergency surgery department, rather than acting like Lu Cheng, including orthopedics and general surgery business in the emergency department.

This is after all a gamble with life at stake, one wrong bet, and you might get into serious trouble.

Even if the emergency department reverted to the same, even if spleen removal surgery became routine, no trouble would arise!

County hospitals are supposed to operate this way, isn’t that how everyone is? Is there anything wrong with that?

If you complain, other hospitals are the same, Long County People’s Hospital is considered good.

Technical inadequacies are allowed in county hospitals, and referrals are permitted.

For some emergency cases, death might occur during transfer, not just spleen injury or liver injury, but arterial dissection, intracranial injury, etc., continue to have high mortality whether or not Lu Cheng is present…

So, Lu Cheng isn’t that important.

However, while some people thought this way, others didn’t.

For instance, in late November, after Xie Yuan’an won first prize in the tendon suturing competition, Professor Xie Xiao personally came to Long County, inviting Lu Cheng for a meal to express gratitude.

For instance, to accelerate the progress of early experiments, professors from Xiangya Second Hospital and Xiangya Hospital frequently visited Ji City.

One reason was to collect experimental data, the other was to provide proof, ensuring the peer review, risk assessment, and ethics review forms for the two suturing techniques were thoroughly processed.

As soon as the formal Phase III clinical trial is completed and approved, it can officially commence usage in clinical practice…
