System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

What is your Union Hospital trying to do?

Setting aside these questions, what’s the significance of this national competition? Is it just a solo show between the two hospitals?

There’s no such thing as second place in a competition; people only remember the first.

Unless it’s like the vascular and nerve suturing track where it’s almost a tie for first, that’s the only way it will be deeply remembered!

After the competition, Xie Yuan’an, seeing her own results, didn’t linger at the scene but immediately went out to hang out with her ”friends.”

The awards were on Sunday, and although the national competition was salon-style, where you could still spar to rack up more points, Xie Yuan’an didn’t want to continue doing that.

Once Xie Yuan’an disappeared, the other participants from Union Hospital felt awkwardly embarrassed.

Not just the hand surgery people were awkward, but also the general surgery and microsurgery participants felt awkward.

”Is this how you at Union Hospital operate? You don’t hang out with your own hospital’s people?”

”This Xie Yuan’an, isn’t she from your Union Hospital? How does she perform sutures? You don’t know? Why don’t you know?”

”You are from the same unit, yet the original suturing technique isn’t shared? Is there some insider story?”

”...”

After being asked several questions, Zhong Junyun, who originally planned to watch the competition venue, directly dove into the conference venue and didn’t come out again.

Skill competitions belong to the young doctors, while academic conferences are the main stage for mature professors like them.

Academic conferences aim to exchange recent activities of each hospital and do not particularly focus on the competition results there.

In the eyes of the professors, the young physician’s grand contest is just minor fuss meant for everyone to see the foundation of each hospital’s young physicians...

Of course, occasionally in the conference hall, Professor Zhong Junyun would get a few more questions from friends, followed by a few congratulatory words.

Anyhow, Xie Yuan’an represented the hand surgery department of Union Hospital and won an award.

In the eyes of outsiders, Xie Yuan’an is perceived as the unique weapon secretly promoted by Professor Zhong Junyun.

A truly unique weapon, the kind that is not shared.

Everyone can understand, why make public the techniques you developed yourself? If you have the ability, go develop them yourself?

As a great professor, Zhong Junyun should be allowed to let his innovative techniques help the juniors who want to make a name for themselves.

That’s definitely allowed.

”Yes, yes, yes, exactly, exactly...” Zhong Junyun unanimously agreed.

At this time, the more explanation, the more it seemed like a cover-up.

At his age, he wouldn’t do such a foolish thing as to bring trouble upon himself.

Of course, Zhong Junyun knew the inside story.

Because the current competition results matched exactly with what Lu Cheng had stated!

Including Xiangya Hospital securing the top three places in two tracks, sweeping the first prizes, including Xie Yuan’an’s first places in two tracks, far ahead of others.

Although two more first prizes would be given out, everyone knew that there was a considerable difference between these first prizes!

Lu Cheng had anticipated all of this.

Zhong Junyun glanced at Xie Xiao, who had been in the conference hall all along, listening earnestly to the ”conference shares” of peers, as if in his forty-odd years, he’d never heard such brilliant reports.

And she was taking notes!

Zhong Junyun couldn’t find fault with Xie Xiao; she had never added insult to injury. This was definitely not done by Xie Xiao to embarrass Union Hospital or make things difficult for him.

Xie Xiao isn’t that kind of person.

It was Lu Cheng!

Lu Cheng appointed Xie Yuan’an because both Xie Xiao and Xie Yuan’an had recommended him.

Originally, all this glory could have perfectly been received by Union Hospital, but because of some of his own misunderstandings, things went awry.

Moreover, Zhong Junyun knew that the old guys in the general surgery department of his hospital wouldn’t resent Lu Cheng for this.

On the contrary, they would watch him as if he were a joke for letting go of the circle that encompassed Lu Cheng.

Now Lu Cheng had decided not to stay in the hand surgery department but had gone to discuss cooperation with the general surgery department, and even talked about joining the department of emergency medicine.

A talent already having a place to belong is certainly a talent. An undefined talent is the best kind of talent.

This is the operational philosophy of top-tier institutions.

Everyone can compete positively, but fundamentally, it’s about one-upmanship.

This national microsurgery skills competition was hosted by the Sichuan Medical Association, along with Huaxi Hospital leading it.

In response to some people’s doubts, the official reply from the organizing committee’s judges was:

”Verified by the expert group composed of the deputy director and standing committee members of the National Microsurgery Society.”

”All the competition results of the participants are real and effective, with no backstage manipulation involved.”

”The scores given by the judging panel are justified and based on actual performance!”

Thus, at the end of the first day of results, Xie Yuan’an’s performance appeared quite unique.

No ties!

First place in two tracks was even more dazzling than the relatively tied first place in the other two tracks!

Similarly, within the competition venue, there began to circulate among young physicians a saying.

That there was a talented young girl in the hand surgery department of Union Hospital, rumored to be Professor Xie Xiao’s beloved daughter.

Of course, there was also a rumor that Xiangya Hospital had been plotting for a long time, amassing strength and explosively innovating the vascular and nerve suturing techniques a year ago, using this competition as a chance for a surprise attack.

Catching all other institutions off guard.

The first prize in the young physician’s competition is something that wouldn’t even interest a dog in the real field of hand surgery.

But the energy contained behind a near-perfect score is the real trump card.

This time, Union Hospital and Xiangya Hospital scored big wins.

”Originality is king.”

”Descending dimensional strike is the core!”

”Ah? The fourth-place score in the nerve suturing track was corrected.”

”It was 99, now reduced to 98.2! Does this deduction even matter?”

”...”
