System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”If it’s inconvenient, we can sit at two tables,” Lu Cheng asked.

”Convenient, definitely convenient!” How could Han Yunshen and Xie Ziyuan say it’s inconvenient?

The two of them were well aware that Lu Cheng’s productivity was even higher than that of a prolific sow.

Right now, Lu Cheng was at the peak of his productivity. Who knows, in the next step, Lu Cheng might come up with some ’extension and thickening’ suturing technique.

In case, just in case Lu Cheng invented such a suturing technique, he would become a god among middle-aged men and a friend of women.

Compared to Han Yunshen and Xie Ziyuan, attending physician Hu Yi seemed more ’steady,’ just an honest person, neither trying to show off nor deliberately pleasing Lu Cheng.

...

Xie Yuan’an was meeting Han Yunshen and the group for the first time, yet they were in the same field.

Thus, with just a slight introduction, Xie Yuan’an quickly became familiar with them and started chatting about professional matters.

For example, discussing industry leaders, the development direction of the industry, and the upcoming microsurgery skills competition.

As for Lu Cheng and Mu Nanshu, they were chatting alone about Mu Nanshu’s project.

Although Mu Nanshu had gone out, she needed to apply for the National Natural Science Foundation for Young Scientists next year. The proposal was ready, but whether it would succeed depended on many factors.

Halfway through Xie Yuan’an’s conversation with the others, the topic suddenly shifted to listener Lu Cheng.

Han Yunshen’s expression was particularly exaggerated at this moment; his already free-spirited features expressing a level of freedom that was almost grotesque: ”Dr. Xie, are you saying that just two months ago, Lu Cheng was still a rookie?”

”All these things he’s done are from the past two months?”

”Zai cuo (chuo)?”

Although Xie Yuan’an didn’t understand the last sentence, she understood the previous meaning. At this moment, Xie Yuan’an felt at ease: ”Yes, it’s that incredible.”

”This world is also so unreasonable.”

”In the past, I only heard Xiao Mumu say her boyfriend had great talent, but it was just hearsay.”

”Only from then on did I have a real understanding.”

”Now it’s good, I’ve been wrapped into it, and honestly, I’m now half a generation younger.”

Mu Nanshu was puzzled: ”What does half a generation younger mean?”

Xie Yuan’an calculated the elementary school problem: ”I call you Xiao Mumu, and call him Teacher Lu, average it out and it’s half a generation difference?”

This calculation made even the other honest listener laugh. Hu Yi said: ”Then Dr. Xie, you are still half a generation higher than us? How should we address you then?”

Han Yunshen blurted out: ”Old lady Xu’s half-life...”

Han Yunshen’s words made Xie Yuan’an’s face turn dark with embarrassment; this title was too harsh.

Being over thirty, she certainly couldn’t be unaware of what ’old lady Xu’s half-life’ meant, but Xie Yuan’an was neither shy nor blushing: ”Let’s just consider each other as peers.”

”In academia, it’s not good to directly address by hierarchy! Otherwise, it will cause confusion among master, teacher, senior brother, and junior brother.”

Han Yunshen and the others agreed with Xie Yuan’an’s proposal and nodded before shifting the topic elsewhere!

Xie Ziyuan said: ”Dr. Xie, there’s a rumor in the industry that your Union Hospital also has an original nerve suturing technique. Do you know it? Could you demonstrate it sometime?”

Xie Yuan’an nodded and then shook her head: ”I’ve heard of it, but never encountered it.”

”Mainly I haven’t had the time to learn it. Really sorry.”

Mu Nanshu added: ”Xie Yuan’an has been learning suturing techniques since October and spends very little time at the hospital.”

”This rumor started spreading at the end of September, so it’s normal for her not to know.”

Xie Ziyuan touched his chin and laughed: ”Actually, I’m very curious about which suturing technique is superior.”

Xie Yuan’an and Xie Ziyuan, being from the same family, spoke according to their age: ”Brother Yuan, I’m not sure, but I feel your techniques might be a little better.”

”Although I’ve never seen the actual sutures, I’ve seen the test data.”

”On average, your technique might be about five percent better.”

Xie Ziyuan immediately furrowed his brow: ”An average advantage of only five percent? Then the individual’s skill level has a huge impact on the result.”

”We have to be careful.”

Lu Cheng said: ”Brother Xie, five percent is already quite good, maybe Ms. Xie Yuan’an is just being modest.”

Although Lu Cheng had not seen Union Hospital’s suturing technique, any technique that could be called a suturing technique was not to be taken lightly.

For instance, the Tang method, which had undergone years of clinical validation, was still very effective and commonly used in clinical practice today.

”Indeed.” Xie Ziyuan didn’t ask further questions.

The group chatted for a while longer, and then the meal came to an end.

Xie Yuan’an had to take the high-speed train back to Han City, prepare a bit, and set off for Rongcheng the next day. Xie Ziyuan and the others were in similar circumstances, but since their schedules were different and they had just met, there was no reason to travel together.

Lu Cheng and Mu Nanshu only escorted Xie Yuan’an to the high-speed train station, while Xie Ziyuan and the others traveled on their own.

On the way back, Mu Nanshu said: ”Sister Xie sent me a thank-you note, asking me to deliver it to you in person. She aims not to let down your high expectations of her.”

Mu Nanshu was reading the message, but there was a hint of jealousy in her tone.

Lu Cheng laughed and said: ”Mainly because I don’t know anyone else, otherwise, I wouldn’t have asked Xie Yuan’an to participate in the competition.”

”Why?” Mu Nanshu asked.

”It was all clean and honest originally, but this girl is terrible at handling relationships, making it seem ambiguous,” Lu Cheng said, turning the steering wheel.
